It seems you might not have read the 2nd Amendment properly. You are not a member of a "regulated militia," and thus you are not protected as an ordinary citizen to possess firearms.
Also, because the NRA is such a powerful lobby, you are well-protected in your right to own a gun. However, the size of the magazine in your weapon is not protected by the Constitution. It has nothing to do with owning a gun.

If you are male citizen, or declared to become a citizen, between the ages of 18 and 45, not serving in the military, (active, reserve, national guard) or female in the NG, YOU ARE a member of the militia. Also section 8 of the constitution, Congress can, 1 raise and support armies. 2 to provide for the calling forth the militia. Army created from scratch. Militia simply organized. WE NEED to be ARMED, ALWASE. ready to be called forth

But I'm a firm believer on preventing instead of convicting. Actually, we really shouldn't be worried at all about this bill. First off we have to have the Executive Branch agree to it, but even if they do, it will hit the Judicial Branch and should immediately be considered unconstitutional and will die. It's a direct violation of our second amendment: Right to Bear Arms.

I'm confused, how does banning an aftermarket accessory separate from the actual firearm (which can still function perfectly well) count as an infringement on possession of the firearm itself, especially when the actual law referred to single-shot muzzleloaders?

We have had this rediculous law on the book here in MA for years. There are only two states that have had to suffer with this up until now. Maybe when the other 48 states that do not have this pull together and dispose of it we can get our rights back here and get it thrown off the books

I am completely against any form of constitutional transgression by the egg headed politicians in office right now. however, one cannot oversimplify the situation dealing with weapons. The USA had the same thing going on in the 80s and 90s with SALT. Am I to assume that nuclear weapons could not also be used in DEFENSE? I know guns are an entirely different animal it's just some food for thought. I fully support the second amendment, but at least try to understand both arguments.
The government is trying to get rid of our guns and our 2nd amendment not because they think they're bad. They know it's a bad idea to get rid of our guns, but they just want to control us easier.
High capacity mags are designed for suppressive fire in a military application. Since the Second Amendment was written to ensure civilians would have access to arms equal to that carried by the common infantryman then we not only need high cap mags but we need to repeal GCA '68, to end de facto gun registration, and repeal the NFA, to make military weapon affordable to the common man again.

When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have them. Guns are fun to shoot, and because they can be used to kill doesn't mean they are going to be used for that purpose. Almost all Americans love fireworks (things that go boom), but we do not call ourselves terrorists. It is the same in the gun community. What is the "reason" for restricting these magazines? What do you think will be gained? You speak of what is "needed". I'm sure you have many things that are not needed but you like them and find them useful. We don't "need" cars to go over 65 should we restrict them? What about restricting RC plane flying? @madman53 You must be referring to the Navy because the Army doesn't have ships. If you know anything about Pearl Harbor you should know that it didn't cripple our Navy. In fact they didn't even hit our carriers, they were not docked their that day. If you know anything about WW2 you would also know that time ,after time, our Navy won the battles of the Pacific. The bottom line is the Japan entered as a non industrialized country. That set them back to far and they never could catch up.

there is a line. i was drawn back in the 1930s. "firearm stamp act" or something like that. basically, you need to buy a stamp/licence/tax to purchase a selective fire/full auto weapon. (military stuff) also, for the nuke lovers, you need something called a explosive handlers licence, same idea. a weapon purpose is to take human life, that's why its a weapon, not a fishing rod. you need to remember, no matter the weapon, gun sword, its a chunk of metal, a tool. the good or evil is the user.
@madman53 Personally, I think that large magazines are ok, but you should have to have a permit, like with concealed carry. But I also think all fire arms should be ballistic tested as part of the registration process, and all sells need to be recorded even private sales. You have to do that with a car why not a gun? Then we can issue licenses for full auto to more shooting enthusiasts and keep them out of the hands of criminals. Large mags may not be useful for hunting, but they are fun!
Living in NY we have very restrictive gun laws including magazine limitations.We also have in my county shot tracker so the police can track any weapon discharged to a certain location. We also have increasing gang violence,home invasions,and robberies occuring daily.Implementing restrictive gun laws DO NOT lead to less violence but only lead to increased criminal activity and more violence.

I own a handgun, but actually agree with what they are proposing. I think people can defend themselves with normal capacity magazines in 99 percent of all instances when they would EVER *actually* have the reason to use a gun to defend themselves. In recent years though in instances when individuals go on rampages it *COULD* make a difference. One might say they will get the magazines anyway---- but if this is for the long term then 10-20 years from now it would be harder for them to get them.

Really don't get the point of this one... why on earth would you ever need a high capacity magazine for defending your family? Is six shots not enough to kill one person? If not, you must have missed... and you really need to go practice at the shooting range. A 13 bullet clip is plenty, that could kill most humans. Hell, 1 is probably enough.

What if, per say, 6 people came with a loaded gun. they got more bullets then you do, thats 6x6 rounds. if you had a 15 round magazine, you can take 2 shots a person, and make a confirmed kill. if needed. thats 11 rounds. you only got6

The only thing I've ever used my 30rd Glock magazines for is reducing reload time at the local range. I constantly get into arguments with liberals on gun control. I consider myself a moderate, I believe bypartisanship is necessary for a government to advance with the times. @bomanio1 whether we do or dont have a liscense, its not the gun. Its the glamour of the gun, promoted by TV , Music and culture. Criminals in the US get their guns from the black market or by theft. If we had laws that state you must own an approved gun safe in order to own a firearm, it would decrease theft tremendously. Carelessness as well as irresponsability lead to alot of stolen guns. Mexico has a blanket ban on firearms and its one of the most dangerous countries in the world. In Switzerland every male has an actual assault rifle in his home, and its the safest country in the world. If a criminal knows that someone is armed, then the criminal is going to look for another target, or decide to not be a criminal at all. A 'clip' is what you use to hold your hair back when you curtsy for the liberals trying that are trying to press their ideology upon the constitution of this great country. A magazine is what holds ammunition for a firearm. Also, just to stop your confusion ahead of time, these specific magazines are made by the gun manufacturers . . . not Better Homes and Gardens (that is a different magazine).
I suppose it's none of my business, but when you have a country that is completely divided politically calling each other horrible things, Nazis, Satan, etc, and then you have everyone armed... I just can't see that being a good situation,. One side says the other is destroying everything and that people need to act. The youth are being trained in warfare every waking moment with their games, well, after school anyway. I just can't see that arming everyone is going to turn out nicely.
It seems you might not have read the 2nd Amendment properly. You are not a member of a "regulated militia," and thus you are not protected as an ordinary citizen to possess firearms.
Also, because the NRA is such a powerful lobby, you are well-protected in your right to own a gun. However, the size of the magazine in your weapon is not protected by the Constitution. It has nothing to do with owning a gun.

If you are male citizen, or declared to become a citizen, between the ages of 18 and 45, not serving in the military, (active, reserve, national guard) or female in the NG, YOU ARE a member of the militia. Also section 8 of the constitution, Congress can, 1 raise and support armies. 2 to provide for the calling forth the militia. Army created from scratch. Militia simply organized. But I'm a firm believer on preventing instead of convicting. Actually, we really shouldn't be worried at all about this bill. First off we have to have the Executive Branch agree to it, but even if they do, it will hit the Judicial Branch and should immediately be considered unconstitutional and will die. It's a direct violation of our second amendment: Right to Bear Arms.

I am completely against any form of constitutional transgression by the egg headed politicians in office right now. however, one cannot oversimplify the situation dealing with weapons. The USA had the same thing going on in the 80s and 90s with SALT. Am I to assume that nuclear weapons could not also be used in DEFENSE? I know guns are an entirely different animal it's just some food for thought. I fully support the second amendment, but at least try to understand both arguments.

Since the Second Amendment was written to ensure civilians would have access to arms equal to that carried by the common infantryman then we not only need high cap mags but we need to repeal GCA '68, to end de facto gun registration, and repeal the NFA, to make military weapon affordable to the common man again.

Almost all Americans love fireworks (things that go boom), but we do not call ourselves terrorists. It is the same in the gun community. @madman53 You must be referring to the Navy because the Army doesn't have ships. If you know anything about Pearl Harbor you should know that it didn't cripple our Navy. In fact they didn't even hit our carriers, they were not docked their that day. If you know anything about WW2 you would also know that time ,after time, our Navy won the battles of the Pacific. The bottom line is the Japan entered as a non industrialized country. That set them back to far and they never could catch up.

there is a line. i was drawn back in the 1930s. "firearm stamp act" or something like that. basically, you need to buy a stamp/licence/tax to purchase a selective fire/full auto weapon. @madman53 Personally, I think that large magazines are ok, but you should have to have a permit, like with concealed carry. But I also think all fire arms should be ballistic tested as part of the registration process, and all sells need to be recorded even private sales. You have to do that with a car why not a gun? Then we can issue licenses for full auto to more shooting enthusiasts and keep them out of the hands of criminals. Large mags may not be useful for hunting, but they are fun!

Living in NY we have very restrictive gun laws including magazine limitations.We also have in my county shot tracker so the police can track any weapon discharged to a certain location. We also have increasing gang violence,home invasions,and robberies occuring daily.Implementing restrictive gun laws DO NOT lead to less violence but only lead to increased criminal activity and more violence.
We must stop the further erosion of our gun rights and responsibilities.

I own a handgun, but actually agree with what they are proposing. I think people can defend themselves with normal capacity magazines in 99 percent of all instances when they would EVER *actually* have the reason to use a gun to defend themselves. In recent years though in instances when individuals go on rampages it *COULD* make a difference. One might say they will get the magazines anyway---- but if this is for the long term then 10-20 years from now it would be harder for them to get them.

Really don't get the point of this one... why on earth would you ever need a high capacity magazine for defending your family? Is six shots not enough to kill one person? If not, you must have missed... and you really need to go practice at the shooting range. A 13 bullet clip is plenty, that could kill most humans. Hell, 1 is probably enough.
You really don't need a 30 flip fully automatic rifle to defend yourself, terrorists aren't rushing your house... yet.

What if some how, or some reason (theoreticly speaking here) 7 people came to your house, and you have a 6 round magazine. that split second you need to reload could be that 1 second that saves your life, is that couple extra bullets. What if, per say, 6 people came with a loaded gun. they got more bullets then you do, thats 6x6 rounds. if you had a 15 round magazine, you can take 2 shots a person, and make a confirmed kill. if needed. thats 11 rounds. you only got6

The only thing I've ever used my 30rd Glock magazines for is reducing reload time at the local range. @BradNC11175 I'd agree that government has little business in telling people how to live their lives. Government intrusion should be minimal (no CPS, IRS, DEA, DHS, etc.) and state governments should handle everything. If people allow a government to grow to large, both history and the modern era verify that only hellish atrocities occur. Demonic lust for control over others makes psychos do mass shootings, just as control over others leads statesmen into preemptive war.

Is the deprivation of natural God given rights by the state not the ultimate form of mass violence? As it's been pointed out in the past, when the 2nd Amendment is gone the rest of our rights will fall one by one after it. They neglect historical facts and papers that say that yes, to founders did in fact want Americans to own guns. The only gun laws I believe they would approve of is REQUIRING people to own guns.

I constantly get into arguments with liberals on gun control. I consider myself a moderate, I believe bypartisanship is necessary for a government to advance with the times. However, trying to defend gun rights against liberals is like talking to a wall. They consider conservatives to be closed-minded, yet they don't give a shit about anyone else who doesn't believe in what they believe. Hypocrites and dumbasses, the majority of liberals. I'm not saying conservatives are better; many are hypocrites themselves, but from time to time I've never seen a liberal fully defend their position with factual evidence or just a strong opinion. It could be because or my age demographic, but take McCarthy up there for example; writing legislation when she doesn't even know what things are. Regardless of political ideology, we're fighting for gun rights, time to be collective.

@bomanio1 whether we do or dont have a liscense, its not the gun. Its the glamour of the gun, promoted by TV , Music and culture. Criminals in the US get their guns from the black market or by theft. If we had laws that state you must own an approved gun safe in order to own a firearm, it would decrease theft tremendously. Carelessness as well as irresponsability lead to alot of stolen guns. I own alot of guns, my guns are in a safe in my home and automobile.

I personally think that everyone that wants a gun should attend a class minimal of 3 hours that teaches gun safety and storage. Then and only then can they possess a firearm. So a liscense persay would be the outcome. A certificate that states you have attended the class and you are trained in the

In Switzerland every male has an actual assault rifle in his home, and its the safest country in the world. If a criminal knows that someone is armed, then the criminal is going to look for another target, or decide to not be a criminal at all. A magazine is what holds ammunition for a firearm. I suppose it's none of my business, but when you have a country that is completely divided politically calling each other horrible things, Nazis, Satan, etc, and then you have everyone armed... I just can't see that being a good situation,. One side says the other is destroying everything and that people need to act. The youth are being trained in warfare every waking moment with their games, well, after school anyway. I just can't see that arming everyone is going to turn out nicely.
