Word! this is my first time checking this vid out and its poppin. I agree my man. Thanks for the spin. Ive been in the Hip Hop nation since 1980 and i agree 2000%.
Well, some people don't know what Hip Hop is. Hip Hop is the culture, a thing we live, not to be confused with the Rap Game.Rap is only a part of Hip Hop, like graffiti art, Breaking (B-Boying/Girling), and D-jaying, MC -ing. Rap being the most popular piece of the culture; has been the most exploited. Not to confuse Rappers and MC's. You may rap and not be a true MC. So to quote KRS-ONE Rap is something we do; Hip Hop is something we live.
@sunwukung777 So, Hip Hop in its truest form is the "least" commercially visible aspect of the lifestyle. Even though RAP has put money in pockets and bread on many tables - mostly those of Major Record labels and media monster's. Rap has become more and more misogynistic and narcissistic in the last 2 decades. It's hard to believe Hip Hop is in it's 40's but I think the nonsense music of today will get people to look for the good great tunes of yesterday.
You lot don't need me to tell you how great a video by illdoc is, that goes without saying. But can anyone tell me what the song is at the very end of the video? Would mean a lot, cheers.

Hip hop is so DEAD. I wonder if this guy even knows what he's talkin bout. No disrespect for the guy that made this vid but hop hop is no way breathing. All I hear in the new hip hop is money, sex, drugs. No hustlin, no life expirences, no real shit that people can relate to nowadays. I mean cmon dude no one comes up with those things anymore. I should just make this guy believe that hip hop is still alive.
but literaly the pimp who used hip hop for his personal gain is finding out the hard way that every one sees right through his crooked schemes he used hip hop till she wasdrained out of all her creativity and uniqueness now she's out in the cold giving blow jobs 4 a living(soulja boy) now hip hop is not taken seriously its just a get rich quick scheme (mims) its a shame cuz hip hop did what no politician or civil right activist could
I know why you say that because people are still going to play the Hip Hop music. But just because people play some songs that are different from Hip Hop and they call it Hip Hop, doesn't mean it's Hip Hop music. Genre's are different.

no, I'm saying you're saying underground there's no money for emcees? I was saying ask Immortal Technique or someone like KRS, Talib Kweli Aesop Rock, if they are hurting financially. They're all doing very well traveling the world doing shows. Hip Hop is not dead. It's just harder to find. But you don't have to look that far.
They are but Rappers these days be following on Nas metaphor's. They're using that Metaphor to trick most of the people that are in Hip Hop for money. And they've got most of them falling for it.
hahah that is a chill cat. HIP HOP is dead the stuff out now sucks. soulja bitch, do the stanky leg... seriously!!! there is no street tails no more. they just rap about bs. jeezy your wrong, it is dead
You're not looking hard enough. Come on now, The Coup, Street Sweeper Social Club, etc etc...hip hop ain't dead! It's just gone a little more underground.
i like the pharcyde and stuff like that, like stoner rap and old school rap, i also like a little tiny bit of ludacris and big pun and NWA and cypress hill. but mostly...i like rock n roll i like reggae more than i like hip hop but i support hip hop because it is a really cool form of musical expression. one of my favorite songs is Running Away by The Pharcyde...i have a Mos Def song on my myspace page...in a video. i like rap but by no means is it my favorite kind of music.
i dont like hip hop, its my personal choice, yes i know this. does that make me frown on others who do. no way, your choice is your choice and mine is mine and i respect that. i guess what im saying is i respect ildoc and his opinions. I also think ildoc should try some spoken word. i think he would be really good at it.
I like this guy, i dont really get into other peoples opinions about music and politics, because its a neverending circle of what you said is wrong and what i said is right and vice versa. niether person listening to the others opinion about what he/she is trying to say. ildoc poses smart questions and gives his side in an inteligent way.
The fat man with the guitar came to my university. Bunch of people got together and counter-protested him with a song about love, freedom, and... the opposite of his narrow-minded bigotry.
Rap/HipHop is dying out with a generation that's seeing it for what it is: uneducated, high school drop-out niggers that can't make a difference in the world and instead must whine about how hard their lives were in a form of "entertainment" that shouldn't be called music.
Hip hop is dead for you! and you're not invited to the funeral! I should tell my friends that.... Maybe, just maybe, they'll stop trying to rap, and do something they're good at for once.
People listened and STILL listen to Elvis Presley, because his music wasn't all about : How much money he has/ How great he was/ Calling women hoes and talking about how many he had. They had MORE meaning than any hip hop song.
lol most of what he says is true, BUT some of the best hip hop artists in the world are from cuba, and they are socialist revolutionary rappers. if you speak spanish, look up los aldeanos and you'll see.
I don't know if it is dead, but is sure is boring and cliche. I put it in the same category as contemporary country and "rock". The language especially. Yo Yo Yo it's just a bunch of worn out phrases, done with a smurk. The cock-ass smurk is key. It shows you have attitude!! Which is real fuckin' original. I like this guy because he likes hip-hop, but doesn't try to talk all "gangy".
Watched all your videos, nice to find someone expressing my own thoughts in a sofisticated way I'm not able to. (not in English anyways since I'm German and English is only my third language) Aaaanyway, to get to the point, I'm not just agreeing on the thought that it actually benefits Hip Hop culture for Hip Hop to be dead, I'd take it a step further. The thought I had some months ago was: "Stop paying musicians so much money!" Sort out who's in it for the heart and who's in it for the money.
yeah, thats why i never pay for music, just to see live shows. thats how musicians should make money, through connecting with fans. my favourite rappers are a group who do not wish to make any profit. so you are absolutely right.
Hip hop isn't dead. You can't kill off a genre of music. Music is a way to express beliefs, feelings, and other thoughts. It comes in all different forms. If there was only one genre of music in the world (for all you "rap sucks ignorant" folk), it would be a dull place to live in. We would all be the same in a sense. No genre of music sucks and or is "dead". The world doesn't dance to the beat of one drum (Different Strokes). Know what music is before judging it.
i don't get it!!! ok, hip hop back in the dayz was great....but look, don't be so negative!!! if u say hip hop is dead....so is lupe fiasco, t.i, common, and many of them...snoop is still here...we still have good artist!!!
i am not concerned with this, I have my hiphop albums, I don't care if hiphop was a person or got shot down and killed, cause it now seems like hiphop is rap! everytime ppl say hiphop it feels like they talk about rap. what about the other 3 elements that make hiphop? graffiti can't be stopped, the breaker hasn't broken his legs and the DJ is still spinnin' LPs! Rap just needs to die, atleast for a century, take a brake!
This is completely true. It's like a few slang terms that became big to everyone. A lot of people stop saying them so that the people who are ruining it, can stop. It's simple and effective. If hip hop is "dead" then it will become what it once was. It'll go back to it's roots and only those who truly love it will be there to see the progression.
It doesn't matter what form of art it is. Once it enters the mainstream, it dies, but just because it enters the mainstream doesn't mean that it will be dead forever. I'm just going to wait this mainstream phase out. Hopefully, hip hop will exit the mainstream and revive itself someday soon.
i love you man. everything you say is thoughtful and wise. big fun here., u have a facebook page?

i like the pharcyde and stuff like that, like stoner rap and old school rap, i also like a little tiny bit of ludacris and big pun and NWA and cypress hill. but mostly...i like rock n roll i like reggae more than i like hip hop but i support hip hop because it is a really cool form of musical expression. one of my favorite songs is Running Away by The Pharcyde...i have a Mos Def song on my myspace page...in a video. i like rap but by no means is it my favorite kind of music.

Just to show my ignorance im calling him ildoc when its Jmooth! lol
gothicrain888 2 years ago
i dont like hip hop, its my personal choice, yes i know this. does that make me frown on others who do. no way, your choice is your choice and mine is mine and i respect that. i guess what im saying is i respect ildoc and his opinions. I also think ildoc should try some spoken word. i think he would be really good at it.
gothicrain888 2 years ago

Don't try to hold on to a dying trend.

Dead is the brain from the pupil how think hip hop is dead!
StreetW438 2 years ago
People listened and STILL listen to Elvis Presley, because his music wasn't all about : How much money he has/ How great he was/ Calling women hoes and talking about how many he had. They had MORE meaning than any hip hop song.
chickenlol16 2 years ago
lol most of what he says is true, BUT some of the best hip hop artists in the world are from cuba, and they are socialist revolutionary rappers. if you speak spanish, look up los aldeanos and you'll see.

BurnDadah 2 years ago
yeah, thats why i never pay for music, just to see live shows. thats how musicians should make money, through connecting with fans. my favourite rappers are a group who do not wish to make any profit. so you are absolutely right.

Know what music is before judging it.

i am not concerned with this, I have my hiphop albums, I don't care if hiphop was a person or got shot down and killed, cause it now seems like hiphop is rap! everytime ppl say hiphop it feels like they talk about rap. what about the other 3 elements that make hiphop? graffiti can't be stopped, the breaker hasn't broken his legs and the DJ is still spinnin' LPs! Rap just needs to die, atleast for a century, take a brake!

testwhite 3 years ago
This is completely true. It's like a few slang terms that became big to everyone. A lot of people stop saying them so that the people who are ruining it, can stop. It's simple and effective. If hip hop is "dead" then it will become what it once was. It'll go back to it's roots and only those who truly love it will be there to see the progression.

The mainstream kills.
