  • Since it was in China and the Chinese are very good at gymnastics I thought the scoring was a bit favourable especially because I think Nastia should have won uneven bars and beam, as for Shawn Johnson I think she should have won floor and all-around

  • Comment removed

  • @marshmello1211 Yurchenko 1½

  • beautiful!!! i wonder what she got points off for?

  • her hight is not optimal, knees where a LITTLE bit bend, and she piked, still I think the rules suck and that she deserved a 15.500

  • @MrJST94 i agree they had no reason to take off that much of a score she should have been closer cause that vault was mearly perfect

  • @astros1515 beijing was a total rip off to the U.S teams for most of the sports. it seems like china never really got deductions but the U.S always did and large amounts too when most of them were as close to perfect as you could probably get.

  • @MATG66690 i know. Nastia liukin should have gotten gold for bars and there would be no silver thats what they usually do but no obviously gave it to china talk about UNFAIR JUDGING. And alicia sacramone should have gotten bronze on vault. Didnt the chinese girl fall on hers?

  • @astros1515 and which is why they say Americans don't know anything about the sports they watch ;)

  • @MATG66690 you know how the gymnastics community talks about how scores are often inflated for nastia? obviously you don't, because you're blinded by your own prejudice and lack of knowledge of the sport

  • Beautiful landing.

  • what?? 15.??? it should be 17.???

  • @CandieeLoVa23 What?? Her difficulty is 5.5 meaning the maximum she can score is 15.5.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 true true true..

  • @CandieeLoVa23 because of her difficulty score, and execution, she couldn't get any higher than a 15.5

  • @CandieeLoVa23 her difficulty score CANT get that high LEARN ABOUT THE SYSTEM gosh

  • @CandieeLoVa23 Lol your comment made me laugh so much. The difficulty is 5.3, so u want to give her a perfect 10 execution, which has never been done in the new system, plus 1.7 points for extra credit, just because u favor her? I'm sorry but this is gymnastics not elementary, we dont just give extra credit points whenever we feel like it.

  • @dpoke23 what even made me laugh more is someone already told me. before u laugh at somene comment. go thru the whole thing..i'm not a pro so how should i know... obvously u think i am a pro...

  • @CandieeLoVa23 I was just assuming that u had a little background in gymnastics.

  • @dpoke23 nope, not quite.

  • that was PERFECT. she was blocking BEAUTIFULLY!

  • @sugarcookie998 Pause right at 0:44, that's a very arched block.

  • I love how she just sticks the landing! She was definitely underscored!

  • sometimes I think that the judges take tenths off just for spite

  • What was her start value? Must have been around a 15.5.

  • @abbythegymnast98 yes it was.

  • ok, I see the pike in the hips, but that can't be more than a tenth or two. So where else are the deductions???

  • @ccaruso81 Leg sep just before she lands and she landed feet apart more than 2 cm. Maybe they deducted her bloc too but I'm not sure. Well judges always know what to find :D

  • @Missnewyork28 You can see on the replay when she hits the horse her body is curved a lot. They must have deducted there on her block.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 Also, she piked a lot ! nastia's layout form is not the best and it's well shown on that vault

  • @Missnewyork28 I agree with you, Nastia indeed piked her 1.5 instead of staying layed out

  • was that a 1 1/2 twist or 2 1/2?

  • I do think that if she were competing in the old code she would have won AA...I mean a judge would easily give this a 9.800 and give other gymnast around the same or even lower. I think that Shawn J would have gotten a 9.825 for her vault. It would be amazing to see how judges would award these scores only according to the old code

  • that was a great vault

  • Sorry I meant 0.0475 Xp

  • Did they take that 0.025 off because there has to be a mandatory deduction?

  • @zeldafreak701 they took off more than .0.025 (.475 is what they took off) but i don't know what for

  • @smileygurl576 I know I corrected myself in my following comment.

  • That was beautiful. Fuck the judges.

  • Where did they manage to take off a nearly .5 deduction???

  • ohmygod that was gorgeous.

  • I'm not a huge fan of Nastia but wow, that vault was brilliant.

  • Weird thing about this is that she didn't even get a really high score that she deserved for good form and perfect landing. Anyone who say's that she was overrated and didn't deserve the gold is crazy.

  • Shawn Johson could have done a triple twisting vault and it wouldn't have made a difference...

  • if i have ever seen a ten this is it

  • She isn't known for her vaulting, but man, this was one was as close to perfect as you can get. Wow.

  • Pause at :11. Also she's THE BEST.

  • is she russian?

  • @ashleycarley07 yea she was born there but moved to usa

  • @GymnasticsFan1144 Oh okay i thought so....thanks:)

  • Awesome background music for a perfect vault. <3

  • she deserved a lot higher than a 15.025!!

  • she's better than mustafina

  • @catdogjoanne not really for me but I try to think if nastia can do a Yurchenko of difficult score of 6.5 would be amazing (more) or one of 6.0 (doesn't have to be yurchenko) anyway Nastia is amazing maybe she is not the best vulter in the world but she did what she can not like others like Jade Barbosa that said the can do a 6.5 Yurchenko in AA but she didn't anyway (again) ALL gymnasts are amazing in the way....love you Nastia and Shawn 4 ever!!!!

Sorry for my english it is horrible :S

  • @rgtzgmnst Barbosa in 2007 could do an amazing Amanar, way better than Shawn's Amanar in Beijing, but her body had changed and she couldnt do what she used to do anymore by 2008.

  • @russianskatingfan ohoh I wasn't knowing that fact but still I love Jade I am happy to see her job in the 2010 Worlds specially her secondo vault the Lopez :) i trhink Shawn make a great amanar but Jade's one of 2007 is really great and way better I think that if Jade performed like in 2007 she can easly fight for a gold medl in vt in the next olympics...

  • The thing for me that makes Nas stand out from pretty much every other female gymnast ever, is the strength and beauty of her leg positions. It's like they're always glued perfectly together, completely straight, perfect toe point. It's uncanny how good she is at that. It's most obvious on bars where she hits a perfect handstand and her leg positions are exquisite.

  • @livelaughsmile100 just don't x:-}

  • It may be one of the easier vaults but it doesn't get much better than that.

  • @cl200913 yeah, if that were in the early 90's that would have been a 10.0. They need to bring back the old system. Killing the sport.

  • nastia is the reason i love gymnastics

  • That was such a beautiful vault. . I'm so glad she won, she has the beautiful lines and grace of gymnasts from the past. . . everyone else nowadays is only focused on power, rather than the whole performance.

  • I remember watching this back in 2008. I knew when she stuck this beautiful vault that she was going to be pretty much unbeatable, and was so excited when she won. It really is a pleasure to watch!

And she does smile, sort of, when she's walking off the podium and down the stairs after her vault is over.

  • Nastia's pink leotard is epic.

  • @danasuperstar Nastia's pink leotard is epically ugly.

  • @bikerOGX Agree ! But it's not only hers, it's actually all the american leos at the games !!

  • sooooo um...wheres the deduction exactly?

  • Does anyone know who the gymnast is on floor / and the music in the background? Cheers!

  • @LadyOlivia21

i think its ariella kaeslin from switzerland

  • She's a perfectionist!!!

  • Damn, that was GORGEOUS.

  • i just don't understand where judges find deductions these days

  • It would've scored a 10.00 in the '80's! :)

  • i think they deducted for height and distance thats the only thing i can think of

  • @MRdavenport2010 WATTT height and distance is sooo not the reason why they deductd...they ddnt deduct the just scored her on her dificulty...there was nothing to deduct she had major heght and her feet wer glued

  • @sexybutnasty thats the only thing i can think of i personally i thought the vault was perfect.but her start value was lover than alot of others but she executed it perfect.

  • Okay, Nastia has a perfect vault here and still gets nearly 0.5 off in execution. In the men's vault final, Marian Dragulescu has a perfect first vault and gets a 9.8 in execution. How is that fair?

  • @AlixPelletier Leg separation at the landig and she piked the twist a little bit, she doesn't have the "good fom" so it's a deduction as well. After Idk, maybe lack of height like I read. Her scor was pretty fair.

  • @Missnewyork28 i dont see her piking the twist they just scored her on her dificulty thats it coz her excution was bang on other then that her score was worth her vault

  • @sexybutnasty Pause at 0.45, you'll see that she piked the twist and not a little. It's supposed to be straight but it's not. Besides, the fact that this vault has a low SV/difficulty a this level pushed the judges to deduct more. If it's easy, it has to be CLEAN.

  • @Missnewyork28 It's still minimal deductions and still very clean. My point was, though, that it seems that the judges are less harsh for the guys than they are for the women.

  • @AlixPelletier Well guys do much harder vault scoring like 7 something so they are a little less harsh.

One small deduction is not a big deal but by adding small decutions together, you have lots of lost point on mistakes. that's what happened there. Her score is pretty good and few gymnast have such low deductions like she had.

  • @Missnewyork28 I know guys have much harder start values with vault. I don't think it should matter how hard the vault is. If there are really no big deductions, then they shouldn't take them.

I know her score is very good - very few 1 1/2 yurchenkos get awarded with a score that high. I just wish the judges were more consistent and didn't feel the need to go hunting for deductions. That's all. :)

  • @AlixPelletier Well, having a high SV mean working way harder to improve and having more power, technic and so on. That's the reason why they are a little less hard on it. A 1/2 Y is barely an olympic level vault nowadays (i mean 5.5 is really low and under the new CoP it's even lower !!) so she has to prove she is clean and nail everything.

They SHOULD take all the deduction, that's the way you figure out who is the best gymnast on each event. However I have to agree on one point.

  • @AlixPelletier ... The scoring system suck a little. Lots of gymnast don't get deducted for mistakes whereas other get actually deducted for the same mistakes. Quite not fair....I think they should deduct everything as soon as they do it for evreryone. And not considering the SV( imagine gymnast have the SV bonus and an extra bonus of less deductions because it's hard ??)..it's just utopic :D

  • @Missnewyork28 It kinda sucks this is a subjective sport, doesn't it? None of the scoring systems have really satisfied anyone. :P

  • @AlixPelletier yeah but ignoring a deduction because you like a gymnast is not fair :p.

Anyway, you're right, no scoring system would satisfy everyone :p but this one sucked really :p

  • @Missnewyork28 I didn't mean it quite that way- ignoring a deduction because you like a gymnast - but whatevs. Nice talking to you. :)

  • @AlixPelletier Yeah I know, I was just refering to the judges. It's like, some gymnasts didn't land on their feet on vault but had a score whereas other got a 0. Quite not fair. That's what I meant ;)

  • @Missnewyork28 Oh okay. Sometimes it's just not clear what people mean over the internet. ;)

  • Such a pretty vault! :)

  • 15.225 at least

  • i love the way she runs!!

  • how do u find 5 tenths off???!!!

  • @gymnastx124 i was thinking the same thing! honestly, how did the judges find 5 tenths???

  • no shit, everyone wants it to be gold dumbass.

  • anyone else find it extremely interesting that nabieva wore the same leotard in black @ the 2010 worlds aa? johnson wore the same leo in red in this aa,too, but that was different because they were both USA.

  • !!!! OMG! Wonderful.

  • In my day, we had perfect 10! this is a perfect 10~

  • smile nastia

  • She completed a perfect vault..reminds me of shannon miller in 1992

  • I never knew that a vault could actually be artistic...

  • Why did she get a worse score than Shawn?

  • @mcabizuca From what the announcers are saying here, the start value was somewhat lowet than that for Shawn's vault. Even at that, you'd have to look pretty hard for deductions, though.

  • @mcabizuca her score is considered higher than johnson because she gets 15.025 / 15.500, and johnson 15.875 / 16.500

  • Go Nast!

we love you, even if the judges don't!

  • one of the few GRACEFUL vaults in the olympics.i'd prefer her vault to an ugly amanar any day

  • omg this is like the replay of shannon's miller's perfect vault in '92 in the AA but nastia has a half twist more! so beautiful!

  • Smile Nastia!!!

  • Great if it was the 1992 Olympics

  • She is so amazing on vault i think that she is best at that she always sticks her landings i luv her and shawn they are both amazing

  • i give her a 15.500 a perfect score for her vault

  • @CassidyMcComb2010

Maybe you should learn the SV of the vault your judging before you judge it ... :/

  • um.....WHERE did they find that .475 deduction??

  • Comment removed

  • I would've given it a 15.275.

  • @TwisterFlipp95 You can't give a 15.275 as a judge. Judges marks are given in increments of 0.100, and the 0.025 increments are the result of averaging all marks together. :)

  • @CoCoNuTsiopatHic

haha I know but I don't have 5 other people with me to judge it lmao[:

  • she was so underscored!

  • PERFECT!!

  • the former vault national champion!!!

  • @natalienat518 When was she a vault champion?

  • @iTumbleToo sorry i remembered wrongly, she's only 4th on vault in 2005 nationals. sorry!!!!

  • @natalienat518 Ohh, okay.

  • You just can't beat a person who never gives up. No matter how much the judges made sure that Nastia was underscored, it was Nastia's determination to win the All-Around that brought her the gold.

Her execution here was way better than her execution in qualification, yet she scored 15.100 in qualifications and only 15.025 in AA. I bet the judges was favoring Shawn more. Well, I'm just happy that Nastia can now just slam the gold on people's faces that doubted her.

  • @glenndelossantos15 I think each day there is a new set of judges on each event so there are different opinions on how much to deduct for each error.

  • @GymMonkeyAz Yeah and they always go harder in AA and Event Finals, the numbers always are about a tenth or two lower.

  • the only thing to deduct from that was the slight pike at the beginning right after she left the horse!!! landing was perfect!!!!!

  • she had 0.5 deduction..i can only find 2 deduction points... so I think she should had a 9.8! underscored!

  • Ablsulutly AMAZING vault!!!!!! Nastia is the best gymnast EVER!!!!!!!

  • Underscored.. All I saw was a bit of pike at the hips throughout the vault, and slight knee separation on landing... But an excellent vault. :)

  • She was so committed that she didn't even cross her legs in the twist. Come ON.

  • This is a classic case of low-difficulty-performances-get-hammered-more-on-execution-for-lack-of-risk. Jana Komrskova is a prime example, who stuck nine out of ten vaults with great form in her competitions (just watch her stick both of her relatively easy vaults at the 2007 worlds) and yet both vaults averaged 9.2 in execution!!!

  • she was underscored! she should have gotten a ten!

  • this vault was way under scored it should have been a 15.2 or 15.3

  • her B-score should have been no less than a 9.8...and even a 9.8 is pushing it.

  • if they still had perfect 10 or the possibility of a perfect score, this would have been one of them!

  • This would have been a ten if this were the 1988 Seoul Olympics..and would've been a well-deserved one too considering the judges were handing them out to a lot of imperfect routines back then.

  • Perfect 10!

  • fucking amazing.

  • I just love this vault. I usually don't really like one and a halfs, but this one was simply perfect.

  • please tell me where you see any deductions besides the smallest leg separation and the tiniest pike...

  • There is not a enough pike or leg sep to warrant any deduction on this vault! They must have taken off for height and distance wanting some super human effort. Anyone that has ever done a yurchenko 1 and a half would have scored this at at least 9.8! AWESOME VAULT! Maybe not the very hardest vault ever, but one of the best vault performances in the history of gymnastics

  • whats her A score? (i always mix up the A and B score...i think that the difficulty score is A right?) cuz what exactly did they deduct other than the smallest split of the legs (like 2 inches) at the end?

  • Um I think they deduced for the slight pike also.

  • OMG! that was perfect!

  • but if she did that with a DTY then it would really special

  • She was underscored here and overscored in prelims...maybe a tenth difference, the Belgian judge in the prelims gave her a 9.8! The judges had an AWFUL habit of deducting less for messy difficult routines, thus deducting more for perfect easier performances. She has a pike you can barely notice throughout the rotation (not like Semenova or Kaeslin who tuck the whole salto) so they deducted 0.3 (unjustified) and 0.1 for lack of distance and 0.1 for height which shouldn't be deductions.

  • Even Carley didn't STICK 3 of routines like Nastia!

  • 1:12 = the two most artistic gymnast in the 2000's

  • At the very end I'd say BING! I love how she is, she's not like a bad sport and she takes it like yay, but not like YAYAYAYA!

  • that was perfect! i think they probley marked off because her legs wernt together when she landed but i dont think it would be that big of of deduction and i dont think they can do that! i cant find a single deduction!

  • Same here! It looked perfect to me too

  • I would LOVE to go back to those days! To me those days were the glory days of TRUE artistic gymnastics imo. :)

  • I never noticed the wrist guard. hmm.

  • She is the IT girl of Gymnastics...! Long may she reign....

  • perfect!!!

  • best 1.5 suk i have ever seen in gymnastics, legs locked together and stuck landing

  • that was a yurchenko, not a tsuk

  • beautiful !! <3

  • Totally HOT!!

  • That was totally cool she looks like a pencil. My vault isnt even half that!!! Go Nastia!

  • aah ok!!!

  • se beso con su entrenador, kiss??????¿¿¿¿¿

  • Es su papa.

  • xk es su padre tambien ...XD XD XD

  • For low difficulty vaults, judges normally take away 0.3 for height/distance

  • Is it a deduction that her legs were a bit spaced just before the landing?

  • No. From where the judges are sitting, they can't actually see the leg separation unless Nastia's legs are crossed, which they aren't. Her vault was underscored but there are little things to deduct for like a slight pike landing and lack of distance from the table.

  • You've seriously got to be kidding me. You're actually trying to compare a level 10 gymnast who's got no record in elite competition and never been on the national team to the reigning Olympic AA champion. Wow. You might want to actually learn a thing or two about the Olympic team selection process before claiming a gymnast was supposed to enter the Olympics.

  • In addition to this, I did look her up and she only does a yurchenko 1/1.

  • your an idiot, level 10 isnt considered elite, she would have never made it to trials to begin with.

  • There were no problems with her vault this night. I think she was underscored a bit here

  • <
