Even though the CRVs structure held up a little better, the Blazer is a Body on Frame construction, the frame really did a work on the CRV which honestly i think kept me safe. In a real world crash I ended up fine, maybe I was lucky, but I think because my car had a frame and the other didnt, i had a slight advantage.

Yeah, Chevies (at least in those years) were terrible in crashes. I remember they had to ban the Opel Sintra (a rebadged Chevrolet Venture) in Europe because the crashes didn't leave any chance of survival to its ocupants, the whole A pillar would completely collapse.

The smart car is only tested against things it's own weight. Furthermore, the IIHS tests showed that the car flew into the air and caused a lot of whiplash to the driver and passenger upon a frontal impact. It also put the car in other traffic.

@atgskater14 look at the iihs website the results are awful... the head is poorly protected hits the steering wheel (which moved upwards) through the airbag high acceleration when the head of the dummy hit the b-pillar, dummy kinematics were poor the survival space was kept poorly and you might injure your right leg and foot...

I think a direct hit into any solid object like that will cause serious damage to any car. The weight in the Blazer would easily move anything in front of it.

i thought you didnt have one? how the fuck would you know? but i have had one and i had a 99 s 10 i gave my brother there is nothing on then thats not a piece of shit , GM even got sued over the fucking antifreeze!! lol anyone who has one is DAMN sure gonna put door hinge bushings,intake gasket ,water pump,a/c compressor, left upper control arm bushings. altenator,starter,and transmission in them,,but some people are lucky and the wiring problem burns it to the ground first

SUV's are on of the most dangerous vehicles on the road. When hit by small vehicles, the small vehicle wedged under them & flips them upside down & they often flip over on thier own with sudden turns of the wheel.
They also didn't have to meet "passenger vehicle" saftey standards until 2003.

i ve had two dodge dakotas and plenty of people with a ranger i put 170k on my first dakota on the original spark plugs! there has never been a 94 up s-10 made that could do that EVER my dad bought a new s-10 at the same time i got the dakota , he 's had to replace door bushings,a/c,water pump,radiator.transmission.control arms,intake gasket,lifters,starter and altenator,and numerous wiring probs, if u have the only one that has been reliable u need to call gm before they go bankrupt lol

the 4.3 is a piece of shit , why would i lie bout the s-10 when i put the parts on it and by the way the piece of shit is broke down now it only has 123k on it the s -10 will never outlast a dakota or ranger and none of them have ever made it to 200 k of the 94 up the 82-93 was a good truck and lots of them got more than 200k second gen s-10s has 70 something recalls on it and numerous lawsuits ,and thers no way you have a 4.3 u havent put a intake gasket on

runs like a champ. starts better than most new cars, all you do is bump the key and shes purrin like a kitten.
but you are right about the intake gasket.lol
but ive only replaced it once, that was at 190K. did it myself for the cost of a gasket and a saturday.

the 4.3 is a shit engine, the trannies are shit too, why would i lie bout the s-10 ive delt with ? its not just that one its everyone ive saw, ive towed more of these s-10s than any vehicle ive ever towed, usaully altenators and theres no way you have a 4.3 that you havent put a intake gasket on or waterpump, 4.3 gas mileage sucks and cant pull a fucking jet ski without straining , how many driver door hinges u fixed? lol if your lucky u can do bushing its 1300 to repalce door hinges

Gez, technically it's not a head on, it's an "offset" crash, which is actually more likely. Offset is when you and the other vehicle hit your left half of the bumper to their left half of the bumper. But getting back to your original point, yeah, you might be dead or hurt pretty badly.

I think that most of the people that use blazers actually use them because of their utility and towing features. I mean, no one's going to buy a blazer just to drive around like a gangster with chrome spinners.
