  • @draconismagister You are a salesman and you are selling a charity. It's a well known fact that chuggers are paid. There is no need to be shocked that people don't want to talk to you under these circumstances. I've already commented why people hate chuggers; you can choose to accept that there might be a grain of truth in it or you can keep making excuses.

  • (Continued) you leave them with a friendly parting comment and leave before they even close the door which i did despite people being rude i was never rude to anyone even if i wanted to hit people who threatened me.

  • @draconismagister you are being rude by using telesales tactics on them in the first place

  • @TheRushingWind Tactics? this is not the army and how can i be using telesales if i am not using a telephone and if by when someone does say no turn around and walk away is being rude then i would love to know what your idea of being polite is.

  • Direct debt is concidered the safest method of payment as it can be cancled at any time and the account holder can block the charity from drawing the money out, I am no salesman as i do not sell anything that is just common sense, as for juming out on people that is rubbish due to the fact i was knocking on doors and how would you know what training we get did you get the same training yourself, i doubt it every much for i was trained the opposite way in fact i was trained so that if they say

  • If chuggers are so ethical and altruistic, howcome thy refuse to talk on camera?

  • I hate chuggers! I've had many walk in front of me to block my path, ask me questions about my personal life, use pathetic flattery and guilt trips, ban them from the streets.

  • What bothers me is that we are so alienated in our work places that we forget that other people matter and that having hard earned money means nothing if you can't make other people happy with it as well as yourself.

  • People hate fundraisers because they can't spare two minutes or two pounds a week as they are so engrossed with having their two costa coffee's a day. Humans are selfish by nature. We hate inconvenience, therefore if the opportunity arises to brush off an inconvenience, (in this case it would be a fundraiser) then they will.

  • Notice how the Guardian feature a Conservative councillor. They seem to be saying those who oppose chuggers are stingey Tories! Rubbish!

  • The reason people hate chuggers is because they hassle you and then want your address and bank details. It has nothing to do with having a conscience and everything to do with weirdos shouting out at you across the street as if you are a close friend when you are rushing to an appointment.

  • @nogek Just a note to say that chugging has changed somewhat. Of course you still get clipboard wielding maniacs that demand bank details, but some charities the WWF included ask for one off text donations on the street that take 30 seconds. The donation can often be as little at £1 and no more than £5. I also believe that everyone should be treated as a human being regardless of their job, and abuse towards fund-raisers is unacceptable.

  • @GeeGeeKH Things have changed since when ? Walking down the street minding my own business when people call out to me, as if they are a good friend of mine but actually are a complete stranger; people doing strange postures just to try to get my attention. It is weird and a type of abuse. I don't run in front of people waving my arms vigorously or mumbling. If your job is to hassle me then I will not like you.

  • @nogek the job of find raisers is to help charities but sadly there are pathetc hypcrites that say we are abusive, as a fund raiser i have had people telling me to fuck off i have had doors slammed in my face and one person i know recieved a death threat by someone all for trying to earn a living.

  • @draconismagister when you say "the job of fundraisers ..... for trying to earn a living" you clearly acknowledge that chuggers are paid employees, doing a job. Stop trying to pretend you have altruistic motives. What you don't get is that chuggers are salesmen who hassle and annoy people. We don't like having to fend them off every single time we go to the shops.

  • @nogek And as for being a salesman we are not selling anything so i am sorry but you are wrong there.

  • @draconismagister yes you are. You jump in front of people, then pressure them to sign up to handing over their cash - and when they give reasons why they can't, you're trained to pressure them until they do. You are NOT doing a good thing; stop trying to pretend otherwise.

  • @draconismagister that's because you're as bad as telesales reps - worse in fact

  • @GeeGeeKH then why not just use charity cans? and they should act like human beings

  • @TheRushingWind I was a Paid fund raiser i quit because of rude people like you and te reason they do not use tins is because collecting money via the door is illegal soit is done via direct debt.

  • @draconismagister rude? you're the one harassing people and using charity as an excuse for it - and you expect a polite response to that??? and how did you get a job in the first place if you don't know basic things like door-to-door is NOT illegal and in any case is not the same as standing in a city centre with a collecting tin? and why only direct debit and not standing order? because it's easier for the so-called charities to manipulate direct debits

  • @TheRushingWind I see you are as blind as you are idiotic, Door to door itself is not illegal but collecting cash on the doors is as there are dishonest people in all professions the reason it was made illegal is because people would collect the money and not take it to the charity after As for direct Debt it is the safest method because the owner of the account can cancle it at any time they feel they want to and as for harrassment where the hel did you get that as if

  • @draconismagister (continued) bullshit about Direct Debit. Standing Order is safest - with Direct Debit, it can be very difficult to cancel, a payment date can be changed without permission, and bank charges are not covered by the flimsy guarantee. With a standing order, any changes have to be made IN WRITING by the account holder

  • @TheRushingWind (Continued) anyone is rude it is the people inside the houses people i have worked with have gotten death threats people have been rude and nasty to me because i am raising money for deaf children or the elderly alas seems nowadays people are too greedy to help out a fellow human being i just pray that when you retire you do not have difficulty walking that way you will not need charaties i raised money for like the British red cross to assist you in the future.

  • @draconismagister you're so rude and you expect people to be nice? grow up. And stop trying to make it sound like an altruistic aim, as someone else has already called you out on. You are doing it for the money - if you weren't, you'd do it for free. and don't give me that "I need to make money to eat" - because again, that shows you're doing it for the money. And stop being evil and making assumptions - I will donate to charities, but not due to pressure from a salesman

  • :-) i liked this

James "most of these chuggers are mercenaries" Cousins - Conservative councillor and total tosser + possible pervert :-)

  • Charities legally have to fundraise in the most cost effective way, if your a tax payer and you put money in a tin then the charity miss out on 28% extra of your donation. Food for thought xx

  • @siobhandoodle And when you sign up for a direct debit with a chugger, the chugger company takes your payments for itself for an average of 6 months. The charity won't get a penny until the chugger company has received its enormous cut.

  • anyone who says that charities should be run by volunteers are clearly in need of a serious head check. Of course we need funding from the public (thats everyone in the world by the way) just like the NHS needs funding by the general public (through our taxes and private sector). And JUST like in the NHS, Charities have paid professionals who happen to live in a capitalist society where money is essential to freedom from destitution. Im sure most of these haters are fucking bankers!!!! HAIL FREE

  • @KeepEuropeWhite Someone with that name, I ain't got nothing to say too. You blatantly have no idea what your talking about though kiddo.

  • *a that is being sived into your slimy brains through television, media etc. etc.

Look a little beyond the actual person on the street.

I could go on... but your minds wouldn't appreciate my time. So I won't.

  • Lol. You people should dig a little deeper into the charity world and you may realise that there is more to it that what your just about able to see over your bellies. Sure it is a word play to get someone to give money to a certain 'cause' - But then again, what isn't in this day and age? just because you have someone standing infront of you and telling you the uncomftable truths most of this worlds naÏve minds are too scared to think does not make it any better or worse than all the propaghand

  • Chuggers should be raped, then liquidated and sold as dog food.

  • @JesusChristLiesToYou then sent off to libya

  • Why the hell should they talk to some aggressive stranger on the street? If people want to give money to charity they should be allowed to do so OR NOT in peace. It's an absolute cheek that they try to emotionally blackmail people into giving to charity when they are getting paid.

  • Chuggers are scum and they are NOT charity workers. These bastards make about £8 an hour some of them also make commision. They are nothing but aggresive sales people who are out to make money for themselves.

I despise them. I am pestered by these filthbags several times a day because I work in a city centre. They should be fuckig shot at dawn all of them.

  • Utter bullshit. Make people think about the world? Arrogant twat. You cant know what a person thinks, or does or doesnt do. I wouldnt ever talk to one of these people because frankly the whole process disgusts me. I know theyre only doing their job, well my advice is find a better job. If i want to give to charity, then i will do it on my terms. i wont do it because someone on minimum wage thinks they can brainwash me into doing it.

  • @earlysunsets3 yep agree got confronted today. Unlike the chugger they interviewed I think about charity in my own time and don't ask to paid £8 p/h+ to do it either! If they had a stall setup with a donation tin and the option to sign up for DD I'd have more time for them. I will try to always donate to someone with a tin (assuming it's a legit charity).

  • Cannot stand chuggers. They make eye contact and pretend to be your mate. Many vulnerable people are sucked into their ploy. Many of them even get sarcy if you ignore them. Fucking twats the lot of them.

  • Thankyou for this video, as a fundraiser I feel that was very well and fairly portrayed. I hope spending time trying to stop people and probably getting abuse has shown you and others what a hard and emotionally draining job it is for those of us that do care about what we do. Unfortunately there is such a high turnover because fundraisers find it very hard to deal with. The majority of the people that fundraise really do care why we're there!!

  • Chugging isn't some grand act of altruism. It's street solicitation for which the solicitor gets paid.
