North Sea oil revenues make up less than 1% of the government's receipts. I doubt that English politicians are going to be frightened at losing 1% of a budget which has been expanding consistently each year.

@scubbiesrules My god, you are seriously deluded. Yes about 40% of North Sea Oil is left. Then what? You can't build an entire nation of 20 years of oil money. Scotland is (albeit a beautiful country with friendly people) in the end a unproductive backwater.

Then what? Scotland have an endless wind and tidal power, which is more valuable than oil. Thanks to those types of power, we can sustain ourselves even when the oil is depleted.
Just accept it: england were only interested in Scotland for our oil and the reason that a "United Kingdom" is more powerful with us a part of it. Brown can fucking stay down there for all I care; he's as english as any one of you bastards down south.

@scubbiesrules You are actually factually incorrect in saying Scotland subsidies England btw. NS oil is really not that big a factor. Even if you count it all as Scottish it would still be only around 7% of your GDP, your spending is > 7% per person more than an english person. You get 1700 pounds per person per year more. That is A LOT. (Im cant find what this equates to percentage wise but it as sure as hell more than 7%)

the fact is that all she said has become a reality. Europe is a big federal state and the countries have lost all the power. More than 75% of laws currently in the UK are european laws dictated by brussels. I wish we had straight-forward politcians with balls again to put things right again.

I love Lady T with all my heart. She was simply brilliant and saved our country. those who choose to criticize her should always consider that. She was a brave, successful, passionate and quite frankly marvelous lady. May I also say this? Just imagine the state we would be in, even to this day; if we had not been lucky enough to have her as our PM.

They stand up to signal to Mr/Madame Speaker that they wish to put a question to the Prime Minister. They do it before and at the end of the previous answer. The Speaker will not the individuals and call upon them to put their question when the opportunity arises
