  • I ran into this spider once I was screaming so much I thought I was going to die

  • These things scare the shit out of me. I usually have no problem squishing a brown recluse or black widow but put this thing in from of me and I'm trying to get away from it as much as it's trying to get away from me.

  • This remindes me of when I used to own a praying mantis. I used to catch flys and sit and watch her eat them alive...yeah...I was pretty messed up little kid.

  • i HATE spiders!! they scare the shit outta me!

  • I just found four of these spiders in my yard! One in on my bedroom window! It is really beautifl!!! I had to google search its decription and found out what type of spider it was. I love spiders, they are so amazing! And great video!

  • can i hold it and it wont bite me?

  • search for black widow gossamer silk automation to see my silk

  • search for black widow gossamer silk automation to see my silker!

  • im scared of spiders but this has a nice colour on it

  • sometimes you hear that a banana spider comes in a banana box,, wich one? the deadly or the harmless?

  • These fuckers scare me. There's one growing near our pool,a nd we dont know if its the "Deadly" Banana spider, or the "Harmless" Banana spider. For a better look, watch my video on my channel called update-8-28-09

  • there every were in florida

  • @slyrez Yep. I lived in northeast FL (Fernandina Beach) and they were quite common. Some of the webs that the females created were 6-7 feet across.

  • lol yea him from seattle and i viseted my cousins there. i couldnt go a minute wihtout seeing one

  • I saw like 5 of these spiders at this huge bush. They're pretty big. I live in Florida btw

  • why is the term banana spider it brings more confusion to every one. they call it probably because they founs spiders close to bananas if their web were closed to the fruit or just a spider sitting on them...ok so if if i found a blck widow on a banana should i call it a banana spider ...no so the term is completely for kids...

  • lol, Well these spiders are called "banana " spiders because of the way they look. .When vewed from the top, looking at their backs, they look like a banana, color and all. So that's the reason for this particular species. The real banana spiders are from South America and are deadly.

    Thanks for asking!

  • the brazilian wandering spider phoneutria nigriventer is the one...but it can be found any where not only in bananas...anyway the nephila species looks great and is beneficial

  • the male is very small

  • haha, i saw "banana" spider and "harmless" and it confused the shit out of me, but really nice video, ive been becoming more and more interested in spiders lately im not sure why but i find them fascinating.

  • lol I know, banana spider is really a misnomer. But that's what they're called around here anyway. The real banana spiders are extemely deadly! I find them fascinating too! Thanks for watching my video. Sorry for taking so long to reply.:)

  • Great video. These spiders are awesome

  • They're one of my favorites! They are beautiful animals.

Thanks for watching and the nice comment.:)

  • Great video. Just a informative visual study.

  • Thanks, thanks for watching and the nice comment.:)

  • Beautiful spiders

  • They really are! Thanks for watching them, and the nice comment.:)

  • thats fucking gross

  • So are you.lol

  • They are harmless to people.

Um thats not counting the heart attacks suffered by people who dont see the spider till its right in thier face?

  • Well, that's probably true for some folks, like my mom.lol And, there're are a few that might be allergic to the spider's venom. But, in general, they're a harmless species, which means they won't seek you out purposely, to harm you. Thanks for watching! Happy new year.:)

  • "These are beutiful spiders!!"

    ..

    ..

No. They're not. They are coldblooded killers.

  • Well, they are coldblooded, or ectothermic to be more precise. I agree, they are beautiful and deadly...if your a grasshopper or other insect.lol Humans need not worry, they are harmless to us.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • THANK GOD you zoomed in when you were looking at the male... jeez he's tiny.

  • lol! I almost didn't see him. The males are really tiny compared to their mates.:)

Thanks for watching and the nice commnet!

  • that is a great video .. i have two webs of them in a tree where i work in ocala florida... will have to look closer for the males...

  • They're neat! I have another vid posted featuring the golden silks. And, another one coming that will show a mating pair. You can get a good look at the male in that one. Should have it posted in a few days.

    Thanks for watching.:)

  • ive counted 26 female golden silks on my property alone this year, i love watching them eat

  • Wow, that's a nice crop. I love them, have more video of them coming.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Beneficial to the environment or not. They're still creepy as ------ !

  • lol! They do have that "affect" on some people.

    Thanks for watching anyway.:)

  • dang, thats awesome!! i used to eat army worms that got trapped in spider webs when i was 3! also, that is amazing video quality!

  • LOL! It's amazing what kids will eat. I'm a mom, I've been there.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video. These are beautiful spiders. Another mis-understood and under appreciated animal. Harmless to humans.

  • Oh no! Poor spider. That happens way too often. They are pretty spiders. One of my favorites! The silk is pretty too. So colorful.

Thanks for watching, tell your mom not to be afraid of these, their harmless.:)

  • you should do this for a living you r realy good at.

  • I'm for hire! LOL, I'm really more of a hobbiest truthfully. I love animals and photgraphy. Now, thanks to YouTube, I'm enjoying making videos as well. I do appreciate the nice comment and thanks for watching!

    Take care.:)

  • omg! lmao! i laughed at the size of the male compared to the female. LMFAo

  • Yeah, it's amazing, the differences in the two of them. The other unique thing about this species is, the females RARELY eat their mates. The males usually live out the rest of their lives in the web with the females.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • moching but hey.

I like the spiders as long as either there is a pane of glass between us or 2 feet.

  • lol, these are pretty cool spiders, and they're harmless to people. Thanks for watching.:)

Have a safe and happy new year!

  • Is that Nephilia?

  • Yes, they are Nephila Clavipes.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • No,... THANK YOU. Keep these videos coming Wildstar. I've always wanted to see Nephilia up close, but living in England, it's not so easy. Where in Australia was this filmed? Queensland?

  • Hello, thanks for watching! I love these spiders and will have more video of them when they become active. We're in the southern U.S, not Australia. Filmed these guys near the Alabama river.

  • we have a variety almost exactly like them native to australia, they are currently all over the walking paths which suck coz the webs are real strong and the spiders quite nasty .

  • So I hear. Australia has creatures with some of the most potent venom on the planet. The Golden Silks seen here are harmless, unless you have a severe allergic reaction to the bite. Their bite is painful, like a bee sting. I've never been bitten. I just stay a safe distance from their fangs.lol

  • I HATE Grasshoppers! Good spider!!!

  • lol, but the spiders love them. They're a great source of protien!

Thanks for watching, and the comment.:)

  • wats it eating?

  • Hi. The spider is eating a grasshopper that flew into the web as I walked by it. I felt sorry for it, but, the spider has to eat too.:)

    Thanks for watching!

  • very nice golden silk spider i wish we had these beautiful spiders here in germany ! ;)

  • da gibt`s ne ähnliche: Wespen - oder Zebraspinne (argiope bruennichi). Habe sie schon in freier Wildbahn gesehen - beeindruckend...

  • pretty cool video. maybe next time don't play with so many effects in windows movie maker :-P

  • Thanks! They're cool spiders.

I don't use "movie maker", I use "video wave". I Used the random transitions the program provided for me automatically. I do like to play around with it though, just for fun.lol

    Thanks for watching!:)

  • oh gotcha, cool

  • It's fun software, and easy to use. This was one of my first "documentary" nature videos.lol

    Thanks again for watching!:)

  • At least your orb weaver is *doing* something. Mine's just hanging in the wind : /

I didn't see this until after I posted mine ~sigh~

  • LOL, thanks for watching my video. I just happened to scare an unfortunate grasshopper into this one's web. Most of the time, they just hang around and blow in the wind.:) Pretty spiders!

  • I know about Spiders! But one with golden silk? I did not know that! This and the footage of the male cowering at the nets periphery finally makes you a Naturalist in my book. :D

  • I try!lol

They are lovely creatures. The females will allow their mates to hang out with them throughout the season. Another interesting fact, they usually don't prey on the males, like females of some species will after breeding.

    Thanks for rating the vid!
