  • Great sounding guitar. Now I want a Deluxe.

  • i love your vid lessons no talk no bull right to the point thanx

  • thank you

  • @mariandel51 I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!! HOW OLD ARE / WERE TOU WHEN YOU MADE THIS?

  • I like your guitar. Very good my friend I learn this from you. :)

  • Cool-cool sound, now I know it is from the open tuning - G tuning means here from low e string to high e string: d, g, d, g, h, d. As the only strings you do not have to change are in the middle section, Richards could use two "normal" finger settings to reach this incredible riff harmonies. I needed a couple of minutes to find out the tuning, then 15 minutes to think and watch and copy - and then I realize how Richards found this by moving his lazy fingers up and down the new. Ingenious!!!

  • very nice jammin with ya! it's my favorite tune. check out delbert mcclinton and his stone-influenced offerings. hardly anyone didn't like their backbeat.

  • Very Good My friend , helps me a lot this video.........strange model of telecaster, but pretty too.

  • @RollingBilbao You ignorant! it's a deluxe model with humbucker it's not strange!! OMG!

  • I don't know how I found you but I have been watching everything you do and have put out. Your an absolutely superb musician and Youtube has been graced with your talent.

  • Thank you very much for the inspiration. I have messed around with open tunings (trying to do Ry Cooder stuff) for years but this has given me a new mission. We are all very much in your debt. Keep up the good work.

  • Amazing how easy this song is to play once someone shows you! First time playing with open G and LOVE IT! Pretty much the heart of the stones right in that tuning!

I'm pretty much hooked! Gotta pick up you entire set of DVD's

Thanks for making guitar fun again!!!!!

  • Thats about close as you can get really without being Keith himself lol! Its kinda simple but its the subtle nuances in the rhythm that make it sound the way it does.

  • after thinking about it, I would throw the right nut in to be able to play at your level.

  • Bad ass..

  • Fantastic and great tone!

  • One of the best alternative picking I've seen on You Tube. And of course the rest. Amazing playing dude. Please keep up the good work.

  • Giving away lessons like this is a great gift.

  • Greatest cover i ever seen !!! You totally got Keith's guitar feeling, you're (I'm trying never to say that but here I cannot say something else) AWESOME !! :-D

  • Great.. everything. Yo can even do kind a Karaoke with it jaja .. imagine yourself on a big screen wearing some funny white mickey-mouse gloves ... That would be Magic !

  • What effect didi you use? Just the amp overdrive or anything else?

  • I have that same guitar. It has such a fat neck compared with my strat.. YOu do a great job on your lessons!!!

  • These other guys GIVING lessons need to be TAKING 'em - from you! Excellent video format, and no talking what a godsent.

  • i would have sex with any guy to have this tone.

  • dude, dead nuts!

  • Un grande piacere guardare le tue mani. Grazie! Paolo (Italia)

  • My favourite type of music by the way.

Just really fun to play. No easy bit. Challenging all the way through. Like one long solo

  • Really sweet tone man.

Hear a lot of covers of this, but not many people can get Richard's sound and feel

  • @MrCeej9999 I read a interview with Keith where he said all you need to play like him was "5 strings, 3 fingers, and 1 A******." What he failed to mention was that its really in the right hand rhythm. Thats what gives his playing the vibe.

  • a real pleasure. Thanks :-))

  • a real pleasure. Thanks :-))

  • nice played that with sum real feel. 5/5!

  • Keith is a magician !!! I love you !!

  • just fabulous

  • So many people have posted terrible versions of this on youtube. It's so good to see that someone can get it right!! Great job, mate.

  • Sounds fantastic! I am just learning guitar and I suck. It is really fun watching you and hoping that someday I can play my favorite tunes as well.

  • Now THAT sounds right!

  • Nice playing, as usual! Say...Squier makes one of these now, they are getting rave reviews...wondered if you had any input on the instrument?...poppa

  • @MrPoppa2 Glad to hear Squier are decent guitars these days. They used to be absolute pants.

  • it's refreshing to see someone else who appreciates the ART of rhythm guitar.

  • ya got some chops there Twangy...keep it up.

  • tele have such a great sound to them, i just wish i could afford one

  • That a Jaguar?

  • Terrific job, man. Glad I found you.

  • this is the best i have seen on utube thank,s...

  • fantastic you rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gorgeous guitar!!! Excellent interpretation, as allways.

  • Oh, how cool! You're my hero (joke, joke). Wish we could have had your instruction decades ago, but better late than never. Keep it up & maybe we won't have so many beginners burning out.

  • how do i get to your skype ???channel

  • I have learned several songs by watching your video's would love to see some tabs for your lessons keep the songs coming i have learned more from you than any of the instructional dvd's i have bought. Thanks

  • I'm checking out the Stones covers uploaded to utube.

    They're 1 of my faves...not bad.

  • Your discipline (in all your vids) is simply extraordinary. Always the perfect tone on a beautiful guitar, always note for note. However, I notice a severe lack of Kansas on this channel... Would it be possible to get a little Carry On Wayward Son? :) Anyway, fantastic cover once again!

  • PERFECT!!! I love the sound of your tele- but more importantly - YOU NAILED a song that most bands can come close with the sound but seldom hit the target! NICE!

  • @jdlewis60 - Thank you. As you know, there isn't a lot going on chord or note wise, it is all about the rhythm when covering Keith. I love to play rhythm guitar. For me, close enough is not good enough.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar What happened to your website. It says its been cancelled. Whats up?

  • Add in Mick Taylor's lead part and it would really rock!.

  • I think Keith played this with 6 strings for quite a while in the beginning. Only later (80's) did he go to dedicated only five strings.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar I know, it's just stupid to take of the six string. Great Cover. Could you tell me where you got the backing track?

  • Really Great Job!!

  • @MyTwangyGuitar GREAT cover!! But MrRoadhousedog is absolutely right, Keith played it with 5 strings. Just saying... :)

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Exceptionally good cover, I must say.

  • Nicely done my friend.... but rip that bottom E string off to get the full Keef effect!! 5 strings is all you need!

  • Man nicely done!! beautiful guitar, did you play everything thats on this?

  • @Purefgrs - I played all guitars. You can hear the 'naked' track at 'guitarbackingtrack (dot) com.

  • what kind of pedals did u use to get this tone - or is it simply clean (tube screamer?)

  • Beautiful guitar.

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Oh wow, I've never seen a Tele with humbuckers before!

  • very very nice. may i ask, what would u htink of gibsons and the sound of keith richards? would i be able to catch it? and also, what r the settings on ur amp and what do u use?

anotha quesiton.....do u like KISS? (i sure as hell do!)

    really good! nice work m8

  • Hey man what kind of guitar is this, it is rather beautiful. Though I don't understand why you didn't use the Tele, Keith used one. You play brilliantly btw.

  • Quality mate-on behalf of us lesser mortals I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to show us how its done.

    By the way-whats the chord/position at 1.28?

  • @flyevertonfc - I'm going back and forth from 5th to 3rd fret on the D,G,B strings.

  • Absolutely superb mate, realy authentic, a bit more in tune that Keef lol ,what a beautiful guitar as well, Thanks a lot,George from Scotland.

  • there are great subtle areas of kr's playing......you got em!

  • excellent stuff, i can tell your a man who's played around and know your stuff!!!...

it;s really the best i've heard next to the stones......were you in a stones tribute band?

anyways i love your videos and look forward to seeing more......your the best i have ever seen on this site........keep on rockin bro 8)

  • maple neck i meant sorry*

  • abrolutely amazing cover mate!!! great guitar too love the finish and maple top i think?

  • Well you didn't rip off the #6 string so I'm assuming your muting it through whole song? No? Guess you must be cause it sounds like Keaf ;)

  • Greta job, mate! Good mix of Keith and Mick guitar parts!

People have to know that Keith plays this number with an open G tuning but Mick used to play his part with a standard tuning

  • what key is this in?

  • @soccerXrocker2767 - It is in the key of C. The guitar is tuned to open G.

  • This is a really good cover of Brown Suger sounds just like Reith Richards!

  • Authentic Stones sound !!

  • its a pretty simple song but the rhythm and timing is always the problem with most guitar players you nailed it tho

  • ;))) ! Damn Good that's all.. Cheers!

  • Is this the tuning Richards Uses live?

  • @patrick34page

I asked Keith Richards about his tunings once upon a time, and he said "I dunno man,I just play the mother fker,.See that bloke over there..( points to a disturbing looking sort of wide eyed guy) he tunes em.Ask him"..and he walked away.

True.I worked at a big music venue in London once upon a time not all that long ago.

Has to be said that he said it with a smile on his face, and a Marlboro dangling from his lip.

  • @winterlandboy - Keith may have said that but that's a bunch of bullshit. You'd have to know which tuning the guitar is in order to play it. Different tunings call different fingerings

  • @MyTwangyGuitar Yes of course it's bullshit.I Not that he said that to me in reply to a question, but it was just a Keith Richards throw away line..something he's known for when he's had a few glasses of fizzy bottled water.. or whatever.Just an anecdote that at the time was amusing.

Your playing /lessons have been of great help.Hope you keep it up.

  • When you see a Master it allways look easy . Great playing super :)

  • Would it be possible to play in standard tuning and still sound recognisable as brown sugar. Cause I don't know how to change to open G... Well, I probably do but I don't to risk messing it up.

  • @ambidexterity1 - You could if you only hit the D/G/B strings.

  • @ambidexterity1 just chnge the 1st "e" and 4th "a" to G

  • You, sir, are an inspiration!!

  • where do you get those baking track?

  • great !!!

  • sweet

  • Great playing as usual. Keep 'em coming. I have the exact guitar with tobacco sunburst finish. Is the bridge pickup original. My neck pickup is the same as yours, but I have the standard bridge pickup.

  • @Maginel73 - You have a Custom. This is a deluxe.

  • Very cool vid.... Excellent backing tracks. clear vid... Great tone... oh ya ( and great playing )... Thumbs up...

  • Never mind. Just saw the note.

  • Are you playing this in Open G?

  • your videos are great!

i wasn't aware songs like jumping jack flash etc. were in open tuning.

    waaaay cool! :)

  • Another 5 star. Tone is PERFECT!!!

Great job once again! Keep em comin!

  • How many telly do you owe!! Your videos are the best!! Not only that i can lern from them alot!!

  • Don't suppose you have a tab for the sax solo transposed to guitar?

  • Perfect ! i love it ! ! Tele thinline deluxe ?

  • @totovl1 - 1973 Telecaster Deluxe

  • I hadn't heard this song before you covered it. I listened to it in my rolling stones collection, and I have to say I much prefer this one (from the instrumental standpoint). Not only did you do the original very well, but I think you actually improved on it.

  • Wow man this is amazing sounds just like it.Your my favorite guitarist on youtube ill have you know!

  • @brian91145 - Thanks, Brian.

  • Because he's l33t, and doesn't have to.

  • 1337

  • No u.

  • Feel-good song, like it!

  • Why didn't you take the bottom string off??? :o)

  • oh just another great 1 FROM THE GREAT ONE

  • Awesome! ;)

  • Wow! Great job. Please keep up the great videos.

  • This guy is "GREAT" !!!!!

  • I actually think that u are the best cover maker on whole youtube! =)

  • @lolbagindabox - Thank you!

  • Hi, Great guitar playing, is this a mex or usa tele?

  • 1973 Telecaster Deluxe.

  • You do the Stones great justice. I guess you have 1,297,453 requests for songs.

    So, here's one more.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do either "TIme Waits For No One" or "Can't You Hear Me Knockin" I'd love to hear your take on Mick Taylor's solo's, their just beautiful, the best ever on a Stones' song (excpet for Wayne Perkins on 'Worried About You' off the Tattoo You LP, maybe).

  • great great. Can you do more Stones stuff like shelter or something,or Jimi's Purple Haze-you can't miss there :)

  • Open g?

  • Your playing is the opposite of why I cringe when I hear a bar band attempt the Stones. Maybe you can sneak out of the house for a few dates with a five piece.

  • BROWN SUGAR !!!

  • I put an artec/guitar fetish mini-humbucker(minibird) in my MIM Tele neck position, closest thing I could find to those great old wideranger humbuckers...cool guitar, once again...great video.
