aaronjoseph, HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU FIND THIS?? THIS IS THE MISSING SCENE THEY NO LONGER SHOW ON T.V., AND I KEEP WONDERING WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?? KUDO'S TO YOU FOR FINDING AND POSTING IT. NOW IF THEY'D STOP MISSING WITH THE ENDING AS WELL WE'D HAVE A REAL HIT. THANKS FOR POSTING.
I liked it when their grandfather told his hypochondriac daughter that she had been at deaths door so many times that she was going to wear a hole in the mat.....
Although I'm far from a 'Twilight Zone' expert, this is probably my favorite episode.
Having lost my own grandfather to kidney failure this last summer, seeing this episode made me thankful that, even though my family has its problems (Wilfred Jr. in this episode reminds me a little of one of my cousins), we were all able to set aside our differences and make Grandpa's last days as pleasant and bearable as possible, so he could die knowing he was surrounded by people who truly loved him.
Me too, but I don't remember this one. It makes Paula seem as though she were closer to humanistic (is that a word) than before.
P.S. The grandfather was veteran actor, Robert Keith, He had been around for a lifetime. His son was actor Brian Keith and he was married to the Peg Entwistle, the actress who threw herself off of the letter H in the Hollywood sign over her failed career.
another great episode from Rod Serling & TZ. MASKA chiller well done good acting script music and what an ending UNFORGETTABLE this tv film historian loves this series. Brain Center At.. Uncle Simon Night Call, Nightmare at 20 0000 Ft all classics as were most. get em all out now on dvd. What a loss losing Rod. Hes great doing playhouse 90 as well. Robert Keith (Brians dad) is superb in this episode ,as old man in wheelchair who knows more than we do. thanks. TOMK
This is a paraphrase of a recent quote but it sounds more or less like what you're saying: We all wear masks... but which one is real? The one that hides your face, or the one that IS your face?
aaronjoseph, this is my all time favorite as well, but I sure get tired of being cheated out of the 'real' ending to this storyline. It makes me angry because there was a purpose to 'the whole' episode, and leaving out that particular ending kind of takes away from it, and doesn't help those who should see the whole thing from start to finish. Thanks anyway.
aaronjoseph, SORRY I MEANT TO SAY 'MESSING' WITH THESE SCENES.

Have any of your folks ever seen a 1945 movie called "The Hard Way"?
Stars Ida Lupino, Joan Leslie, Dennis Morgan and Jack Carson.
I recommend it highly -- great film. Ida playing a real b**ch and looking fabulous while doing so.

Brooke Hayward who played Paula was the daughter of Margaret Sullavan ("Shop Around The Corner) and Hollywood agent Leland Hayward.
She wrote a book back in the 70s about her family entitled "Haywire."

Sometimes I think Rod Serling was very ahead of his time.

I agree-Serling was a genius in his field and was he pretty much smarter than all his teachers from the time he was in the 7th grade.
