  • If the spring is set to stiff on your BOV it could cause it, so just a case of backing it off a bit at a time to see if that sorts it! Also a faulty recirculating valve can cause flutter! i'm not sure what set up you have there apart from whats been mentioned so couldent say for certain at this time, but astra mk4 gsi's and the newer vxr's suffer a lot from the diaphrams spliting in the recirculating valves! Hope this helps a little! None the less Nice motor ;) cozzy's will always be classics

    Your retarded. That tells nobody anything but the fact that skyline had a bad waste gate causing overboost under a constant load. Thus pushing too much air into the intake and surging.

    The surge in this video is from no BOV so when the throttle plate is snapped shut the air cant go anywhere but back out which is surging the compressor.

    Surge is bad no matter what. Not only are you not getting faster spool but you are destroying the thrust bearing in the turbo.

  • yea compressor serge, if im right its the BOV opening late ,not fully or not at all... the air sucked in by the turbo has no were to go(the bov is not open or what ever) so it goes back through the turbo causing the flutter, sounds good tho

  • Most Turbocharged cars will make this noise in standard form if you open the air filter. Alot of fucking idiots need to learn shit before they type shit with there balls. And before they make up fucked up words about engines they will never have the brain power or common sense to understand.lol I dont advise anyone to open the air box up and rev it up incase it fucks the airflow meter as I did on my mates vauxhall.lmao.

  • The wastegate is NOT the reason for compressor surge! When the BOV doesn't open to relieve positive pressure, it reverts back through the compressor fins, because it has nowhere else to go.

  • 1st of all, thats not full boost in that video.

    2nd i have built my own turbo setup on my own car. do i didnt buy a car factory turboed, i built the bottom end of the motor and the turbo setup you fag. my car dynoed at 405hp on c16 and ran 11.4 at the quarter mile. thats right homo, i did it myself. so if anyone has been schooled its you. wategates discharge exhaust from motor and turbine on the hotside. blow off valves are for the compressor or cold side you cock gobbler.

  • no it would keep it shut until the 12 psi is reached after that it will open up to release excess exhaust to keep it from overboosting

  • You simply need to adjust your blow off valve. The spring is either too tight or not tight enough, but if I recall correctly you need to tighten it slightly. If your BOV isnt adjustable get a better BOV.

    Look up the Steath FX by GoFastBits, on one of their videos he talks about compressor surge, and adjusting the FX to fix the exact problem your having. I just cant remember if he losened it or tightened it.

  • Again, thats compressor surge, and a lot of it too. Watch out for premature wear, the thrust loading you're putting that through will be enormous. It's not really your fault, but I'd be inclined to kick whoever fitted it squar in the nuits.

  • @fhsdhh try the load the the bov opens on, your pushing excess air back through the compressor, you need to relieve the air more efficiently i have the same problem on my wrx adjusted the bov to boost and it the surge stopped ... hope you sort it out though bud

    terrible surge!!! if you dont know, what does it mean (and it looks like) look at Garrett´s site (turbo_tech basics) and get some info about BoV and External Wastegate

  • i would expect you will need a new one by 8k-10k miles after you made it chatter, it kackers it because the air that goes into the turbo is reverted back in and give you the chatter, sounds good but puts quite a bit of stress on your turbo. Get and external wastegate.

  • hiya mate thanx for the comment its running a bailey dv26! just put a air to air intercooler on it and got rid of the charge cooler cnc head with cams and new injectors n fuel pump! its going back to get tuned again soon should be in the reigon of 390bhp - 400 :D
