  • this was a good video but he sounds like a complete asshole

  • thanks for quick learning tips i like it

  • thank you for the great tutorial

  • I liked it ^^

  • good job dude

  • In college I learned Quark but thanks to your video I see how similar InDesign is. I feel a little more confident now just incase future clients specify InDesign. Alternating back and forth shouldn't be too much of a problem. Thanks for the quick video! Really helps!

  • this is great!

  • Darn it, my entire swatch part disappeared. Help plz?

  • trainning not trianning lol

  • @bebedt

    "training", idiot!

  • @JohnMunro666 wtf? you corrected me or what?

  • @bebedt training not trainning. better re-check yours before getting mad.

  • amazing dude! i loved the way you explained everything, im following all your tutorials, i need to know how to do a manual, im working recently on a big graphic design studio as a peasant im going to learn everything i can with your videos. Awesome. thankyou for everything.

  • Really good to have an overview, and I like the style of the tutorial. I am crossing over from Quark so need to be able to quickly see how INdesign works - would just like to point out typo on above slide tho' ;-)

  • Totally agree with @goobernutz thanks for not dumbing it down!

Tutorials that drag too long are torturous

  • Great tutorial, really useful. Thanks very much.

  • Excellent

  • wonderful tutorial! excellent pace, clear instructions, giving different options and gave me lots of ideas. big fan dude, many thanks!

  • Here we go! This is what I want. The basic thing for newbies like me. Very nice!

  • This is awesome. I was searching for some videos to get a better feel of how InDesign worked, and this seems like something I can do...and maybe have have done before (thank you, memory bank).

  • I´m layouting since 2 years now and you got me so much more to learn. You´re incredible.

  • you sound like moss from the it crowrd

  • I just got InDesign and this tutorial was exactly what I was looking for.

    Thanks!

  • thanks for that - now i understand how indesign works, thanks so much

  • Holy Shit you sound like Jack black as if he was a computer graphic artists

  • hahahhaa 07:50!! I LOVE USING DROP SHADOW was surprised me!! btw thanks for the tutorial!

  • I love your tutorial...Very thorough but kinda fast like you said. Do you have a transcript or notes?

  • is indesign something like Pages from iwork?

  • I've been using this program for my Desktop Publishing class, and this pretty much nails the basics on the head. very useful tutorial--and it ended up looking pretty good

  • just what i was looking for, still i don't see the point of indesing, why not use illustrator or even better photoshop? this indesign seems to be just a word prossesr with a few basic graphics capabilitys....

  • @happygamestvfun1 That's precisely the point of InDesign, actually. It's not for editing/playing with images, and that's why there are separate programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and Fireworks.

  • awesome tutorial. keep videos like this coming

  • surely deserved a "like"

trying to learn InDesign and found it quite difficult without help

    thanks

btw, 1 of the chinese characters is wrongly written :P

  • This program seems much more complicated than it needs to be. I think photoshop does all this easier.

  • Essential "trianing"? bwahaha...try spelling words correctly. Like try "training".

  • YOU GOT TO USE DROP SHADOWS FOR PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING.

    you champion of sobriety...

  • i os love u! im learning indesign now!

  • Excellent tutorial....thanks so much

  • This is awesome.

Straight to the point and explains all the basics

    THANKSS

  • nice tutorial ;)

  • @NatalieCakePhoto Does that mean that you [put something] in lynda's ass?

  • you don't know how much you're saving me right now ._. my moving up on my acads next year is at risk. Thank you so much for finding the time to make this

  • Thank you ^^

90% of all what i need to know about indesign to start my project in 10 min

i was using freehand before but unfortenetly freehand is dead

    thank you again!!

  • great vid man, this helps!

  • some people can simply be told how to do this, others would rather be shown.... i'm the latter. Thanks for the workflow demo, it made things a lot simpler in my eyes. :D

  • Finally I jumped out of the shadow and got a clue what's going on in this. I followed this all and it really helped me. Thank you.

  • Tukoart...man that totally explains it all! Thank you for keeping my head above water. This makes a world of difference for me. Now I feel compelled to learn this program too. Dude, you are awesome for taking the time to share and explain what was once confusing. I salute you.

  • This all what InDesign is about? Just frames and pasting your work to dimensions and so forth. Cant you do this all in Photoshop? Dont understand why Graphic Designing employers dont hire elite Photoshop users if they dont know InDesign. Simple nonsense program in my opinion but what do I know. Good tutorial by the way.

  • knowing photoshop wont make you a graphic designer!!!! not even knowing well indesign..... theres alot behind.... plus photoshop is great for image, flayers and creating pages or spreads but in my opinion and I work with indesgn, I will never create a 200 pages book on plane photoshop.... plus how can you send it to have it printed???? plus let say i finish the 150 page magaine project but the client dont like

  • the fonts of all body text of all the 150 pages??? there are features that helps you to just select the font and it will automaticly change the font on all the pages..... plus lets say that you made all those little page number at the button of the page plus your client forgot a full page anounsment that goes on page 40, how will you change the page number on the rest of the pages fast???? indesign makes that job for u..... plus corporate printers print pages in multiple of 4 pages

  • or 8 pages and sometime 6 so theres alot to know.... indesign is alot more than 10:55 minute tutorial...

and also i understand your point but just see indesign as a tool that uses illustrator and photoshop together!!!

take care and dont misunderstand my point im just giving a tip of what the tool is

  • I know what you mean, alot of it is based on Photoshop fundamentals , and i didn't realise how similar it was going to be.

  • very useful, great tutorial - thanks!

  • this is what jack black would sound like if he was a computer geek...haha. listen to him.

  • At least he do know something, you're just an analphabet nonlifer youtube geek.

  • you tld me freak?

ok, but why your name is legollas you fuckin gay freak?

    you called me nerd?

i told you IVE NEVER STUDIED THIS SHIT!

and i can do much better...so...ths makes you the nerd...you stupid-o

  • Just a simple answers for your retarded brain, my accname is legollas, cuz its my little brother YT acc that its always logged in here , second, yes, i call you NERD, GEEK whatever, cuz you are indeed, if you never studied this and you can do better things, its becouse:

    1) you are just a bighmouth.

    2) you spended hours using a program that you dont even needed.

    that made you a nerd.

    Sypuid - o greeng-o

  • what a TRIANING ... someone should take a look at the right spelling

  • Easy to follow tutorial guidance. Thanks

  • great tutorial

  • how did you snap it???

  • view->grids & guides, and make sure that "snap to guides" is turned on

  • good!

  • Thanks for sharing this....

  • ahhh thats so 2007, good tutorial tho, shows a lot of stuff some might not know about.

  • eeeew final product is rank.

    no offence.

i just don't like this style.

    anyone can do this.

this puts the name graphic designer to shame.

  • If you do so, what the hell are you doing here nerd?

  • your missing the point... he is giving us a tutorial on how to use the basic functions of the program. its not about how good the final product is here... this isn't some sort of design exhibition.

  • @MonsterMo44 exactly man, this guy is a genius. We're professionals and can/WILL learn at an accelerated rate. Don't baby us anymore, tutorial-makers of the world!

  • That was really useful, thanks :)

  • Thank you! Finally a decent overview from the VERY beginning!

  • That's wonderful

  • thank you

  • Excellent work. you are really talented. keep it up man.

    Thanks

    prakash

  • great vid Super Helpful

  • thank

you save me for the graphic exam

  • great video... a little fast and I know you only have so much time, but thanks it helps a lot.

  • Is it essential to efficient work flow to have bridge as well? I don't have bridge unfortunately. : /

  • no it is not

it will save you a bare minimum amount of time

  • "oh i don't have swatch here yet, I better create one"

    dam right homie lol

  • his vioce is soooo sily

  • Typo at the end...

    "Essential Trianing".

    Brilliant tut though

  • That's nice!

  • thank you!

  • This was very very very helpful!!

Great video and that guy knows what hes doing!!

    He has alot of skill!

  • Yeah I DON'T agree that you always need drop shadows. fail. But other than that it's nice to see a really basic view of someone else's workflow in a fast paced overview. There's always a couple little things I learn when watching another person use programs.

  • I agree, drop shadows are tacky and ugly.

only magazines like womens week or fugly magazines like that require drop shadows and shit like that.

create something unique and annoying is better.

  • You lost all my respect when you went for the bevel and emboss and the drop shadow, sorry.

  • I wish all tutorials were this quick! You don't treat us like children. You don't have some weird nerdy accent where you talk out of your nose. And you don't have to remind us about the Ctrl/Apple keys a hundred times in each movie. Just brilliant! This is how ALL software tutorials should be. 5 stars.

  • @goobernutz Uh...wrong, not only does he have an accent, it's a gay nerdy accent...he's a flaming homo.

  • no! u never use drop shadows! lol

  • Does adobe indesign work under Windows XP Service Pack 3?

  • yes

  • yeah you're not explaining everything...no you're not ^^ definately it helped a lot! thx

  • Great introduction!

  • Those chinese characters actually are japanese...

  • Dude! What A great voice! Really good explanation!

  • i don no how to speak english perfectly but with it i can understand this program thx

  • trianing hahaha

  • isn't it spelled "training"? jejeje!!!

  • Is it me or dose this guy sound like JACK BLACK???? Hey are you jack black?

  • agree :)

  • it sounds like he is jacked on caffeine like a jittery guy just wanting to Get Some Design Done! Then again most designers are like that, long live caffeine designers

  • good job!!thanks, gracias desde Costa Rica!!

  • Easy to understand, very nice! Thank you for your help!

  • very useful and best indesign tutorial in youtube.

  • cheers, I really liked it!!!

  • Guys, the way you talk is just give you down finger. He is a pro and he knows what is he doing. If u think you're better make videos and post. Do you guys know who he is? I don't thinks so.

Anyway thanks a lot for these helpful videos, I hope you read these comments and answer those fool retards.

  • Copying and pasting images from Bridge is not a good print production process. Better to download the images first and change the mode to CMYK and format to tiff or eps.

  • yes, very annoying, but helpful!

  • Essential Trianing? oops :P

  • Wow! That's a good start for me. It gave me a professional intro about InDesign. Now I know I'm doing it right. Thanks bro!

  • drop shadow... yuck

  • Good tutorial!

  • wow! i learnt alot in ten minutes! Thanks so much if u read this =)

  • Just wondering if anyone knows of a company looking for a Graphics Professional, I have 15 years experience and I'm located in the San Gabriel Valley, California.

    Production Artist/Graphic Designer - 7/06 to 4/08

Designed, created and implemented company logo, website and complete digital pre-press workflow.

Results: Provided greater efficiencies, cost savings and employee accountability.

  • That's fast, all these will take more than one hour to finish :)

  • This was a really great tutorial. Thanx a million. I have been using Adobe FrameMaker for some document design and layout tasks....wanted to see where and how InDesign could fit in.

    Good Job.

  • Thanks!!

  • good video

  • Fantastic..... works 4 me

  • Very good and help me a lot

  • Very handy, thanks! The speed was good for me. Is there any chance you could show us how to do double page spreads?

  • you are an AWESOME teacher! The best I have ever seen. thank you so much.

The slow stuff makes me fall asleep. this was great.

  • This is awesome. I always wondered what Indesign's objective was. Basically page making..hmmm. But if you know how to use Illustrator and Photoshop, this clip should be simple to follow. Clear speaking and good info. Great job!

  • That was good... I agree everything the rest of you said. Umm... I know this really isn't what I should be looking at, but the actual page that he laid out is... kinda ugly... :P

  • agree, very clear speaking voice :)

    10/10

  • Excellent!! Tks!! I love it!

  • Excellent video, very easy to follow and well-explained, clear speaking voice.
