  • I find it interesting that while we were making lame-ass Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies, the Brits and French were making movies of substance.

  • One of my favourite films.

  • Lord this movie depressed me when it came out.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • this film is great especially if you from salford or manchester. great shots and good acting

  • @dougiewhite778 Also Stockport, St Mary's church Stockport market, the scene with the doll

  • Fantastic shots of Manchester - Many thanks uploading.

  • I love everything about this film. It touches on so many controversial subjects, and holds up even today. When I saw the stageplay in New York with Amanda Plummer in the lead, however, I wasn't nearly so moved. It's just a great film.

  • anyone know where i can watch the full film?

  • yes its on here now

  • One of the best film's ever to come out of Britain. Incredibly written, beautifully filmed and cast to perfection. Stunning performances all round and a true "great" of the cinema. Never ever tire of watching it. Sad and hilariously funny at the same time. Don't miss it. Get the dvd with great commentaries from the actor's...."bloody marvelous Jo"

  • Could not agree more, kismequick. My favourite genre, "Kitchen Sink films" -- also remember fondly "The L Shaped Room", "Tiger Bay" and "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning". The genre died with the first of the James Bond movies, "Dr No" in, I think, 1962

  • Some fantastic background shots of salford and manchester ...Love it.

  • I LOVE this movie!

  • This film was done at a time when inter-racial illegitimacy was considered worse than murder! I knew women who'd pass the baby off as someone elses or even smother them in talcum powder to lighten the skin tone. Today , who cares?

  • i care. and you better watch it.

  • i have thumbs you up you are so right, my nan told me of a freind she knew who BLEACHED her blackbabys hair, so it looked "whiter" to the public

  • @mojoelem yeah it'll be a real laugh when your ppl's royal family is full of Africans. lol now that is something I hope to live to see.

  • @DiggingDeeply

Oh you mean like your Whitehouse is....i like your profile...you seem like a popular person.(err..not) BTW the English Patron Saint (St George of Lydda) was black.

  • @taildragger53 Hey, I didn't vote for him. A bunch of brainwashed star struck hippy liberals did. Not lookin for friends and popularity on Youtube and if you noticed I signed up quite recently. BTW St. George Of Lydda aint my saint. Anything else?

  • @DiggingDeeply Neither did I nor would i vote for him. However, your possibly a star struck bigot. Look, there are only six degrees of seperation between any of us. All races verged from the Mesopotamia valley..even your Messiah that is venerated in Western churches was a MIDDLE EASTERN man who resembled Osama BL. When you die will your bones be superior to any darkie? Oh yeah, i'm sure they will be!

  • @taildragger53 Tell me what do you know about the "verging", as you put it, of all races from the Mesopotamian valley. Because i just took a course last semester on the origins of humans, taught by a very respected Anthro/archaeologist and I can't recall a "verging" of races from the Mesopotamian valley. You tread into waters you know very little of.

  • @DiggingDeeply America & Britain are cousins..closely related in EVERY way. Alot of your areas are named after places in Britain. Obviously you don't know your own history. Humanity goes alot deeper than just skin colour.

  • @taildragger53 I dont come from Britian nor do any of my ancestors. The areas that are named after places in Britain are just that..."named". I'm not only versed in my own country's history but I believe I have a great understanding of the humans history as I am a graduate of anthropological studies. If you want to get into it we can really get into it.

  • Classic British 60's film with Rita Tushingham. Check it Out!

  • I don't want to give it away, because you should watch this for yourself! Basically though, it is the story of a young girl's journey into womanhood through a series of events. She falls in love with a sailor who then leaves her, but is befriended by a young gay man who looks after her when she dicovers she's pregnant. It's a really beautiful, touching and often very funny slice of life.

  • Every time I see this 60's MASTERPIECE, I fall in love with Rita Tushingham!

  • i've heard many things about his movie..specially from morrissey, could you tell me what is it about?

  • A masterpiece indeed. We only make garbage now.

Two weddings and a funeral was the best in recent times...and the was..well,heartless and sterile.Anyone remember "Morgan:A suitable case for Treatment"?...another masterpiece from a crop of great films of that time.Where are those sort of films now?

Gone...like the sweet bird of youth!

  • cwswiss; "Morgan; a Suitable case For Treatment" was probably one of Vanessa Redgraves finest films. I think it was her first.

  • I love the old British "kitchen sink" black and white dramas- the acting is usually top rate and the stories are believable.

  • im not sorry and in not glad
