"In November 1954, five months before his death, Einstein summarized his feelings about his role in the creation of the atomic bomb: "I made one great mistake in my life... when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt recommending that atom bombs be made; but there was some justification - the danger that the Germans would make them.""
The atomic bombings of Japan occurred three months after the surrender of Germany, whose potential for creating a Nazi a-bomb had led Einstein to push for the development of an a-bomb for the Allies. Einstein withheld public comment on the atomic bombing of Japan until a year afterward. A short article on the front page of the New York Times contained his view:
@sekamenacerecords1 "Prof. Albert Einstein... said that he was sure that President Roosevelt would have forbidden the atomic bombing of Hiroshima had he been alive and that it was probably carried out to end the Pacific war before Russia could participate." Einstein later wrote, "I have always condemned the use of the atomic bomb against Japan."
@shuteyethief easy for you to say, how about if someone bombed over where you live? easy for you to say all this crap when the U.S. has not been nuked itself, and if it happened you would be all pissed off if it was happening in your country. then would you be saying that is war if it was in your country, i highly doubt it. so stop being a hypocrite. nuclear use as a weapon is just plain evil from the devil & people should not use it as a weapon to destroy humanity and earth.
look i know the purpose of war but this was too far, even one bomb, but they i mean us, the second bomb was because they didnt surrender the way we wanted. we burn women and childern alive , we turned them to ashes, then we have been sudying them ever since. and why because they tried to take over another country, again one amercian life is not greater then any other life, it was wrong, and keep in mind what we say is ok then keep your mouth shut when some one does it to us,
@meattube4u33 not to mention china the Japanese tortured and killed millions of innocent Chinese civilians i have no regret that my country dropped those bombs. you should read the story of the men who raised the flag over Iwo Jima brutal stuff
@sekamenacerecords1 im not Japan was a brutal fighting force and the more desperate it got the more viscious the dropping of the atomic bombs made it possible for us to not have to invade japan killing millions more japanese and americans plan X the proposed invasion of japan had death tolls in the millions. the bombs also didnt kill nearly as many people as 1 firebombing run. calling this an american war crime is idiocy the U.S should not apoligize for attacking japan in
@sekamenacerecords1 a time of war. no one likes the prospect of an atomic bomb no one ever has but not dropping the bomb and thus not showing the entire world its destructive power would have lead to nuclear war easily because they still exist my logic and reason is just fine everyone who has heard of einstien knows that he hated the fact that he was involved in something so horrible
alright here we go Japs killed 60 mill chinese and other people in occupied countries they have not once say srry. the japs were animals they torchered raped beat and made ppl go through pain for FUN animals dont even do that to eachother theyre worse who cares if we dropped a bomb if we invaded japan we wouldve lost millions and the war wouldve kept going get the fuck over it
Would Japanese have ever hesitated to drop the bombs on the US if the country had been able to do so? Taking Pearl Harbor into consideration, I would say no. They would have dropped the bombs on the US right away if they had been able to do so!
Whether Harry Truman should be considered a “War Criminal” for dropping the atomic bombs on Japan or not (with good arguments!). Google for:
"THE TRUTH ABOUT THE ATOMIC BOMBS" by Bill Whittle which is published on the May 1, 2009 on pajamasmedia com (it's a ~16 Min video plus written comments & discussions).
The US shouldn't say sorry, main reason cause its been over 60 years. What good would saying sorry do now, it wouldn't bring back the lost lives or pay off the destruction, if anything we would look like doochebags to the world for taking 60 plus years to apologize. We have bigger things to worry about anyway. Heartless I know, but its the truth.
The US and even The Soviet Union had specific plans to invade the Japanese home islands; the US plan was called "Operation Downfall;" it called for one invasion in the southern most part of Japan on Nov. 1, 1945 and another invasion on the main Japanese island of Honshu (that's where Tokyo is) on March 1, 1945.
Predicted casualties were astronomical for BOTH sides; the A-Bomb SAVED lives.
@SatchmoSings exactly. sure... they were mostly if not all innocent people... but we sent a damn good message that we weren't f-ing around. Along with the Russians invading japan occupied China and the a-bomb ended the war. Period.
@Pulseless666 The US had a true, citizen army in those days; I would then assume, from a portion of your comment, that you didn't consider the average "G.I. Joe" to be, ultimately another innocent person; citizen armies had been a reality for quite some time; there were very few "professional soldiers" in WW2 despite what seems to be your otherwise claim.
@SatchmoSings A G.I. IS just an average person... its not until u put a weapon in there hand that they become a private. Do u have any friends/family members in Iraq right now? i have a 6 friends and a cousin overseas right now... when they come back., there not Privates,. there called by there names and they get to go back to life. Yes, they were weren't a lot of "professional soldiers" back then, but dose that really matter? i really didnt know how u pulled ur argument out of what i said
this is ridiculous. the allies even told the japanese that they had this kind of weapon, and asked for their surrender. the japanese did not listen and got nuked. before a bombing of a city happened, whether it be napalm or conventional bombing, propaganda leaflets were dropped on japanese cities saying "you will be bombed in 72 hours. watch how powerless your government is to stop it." and still the japanese did not surrender until after the 2nd nuke
Funny thing, No they don't deserve one, tell me have they apologized for the rape of Nanking. That sounds more horrific then a couple of Nukes that would of just obliterated everything. Maybe if Japan wants an apology it should first apologize for all the damage it had wrought upon other countries during its imperial days.
@NocturnalF0x Thank you for this comment, maybe propagandabuster should do a video about what the japs did to the Chinese in Nanking, the allies during the Bataan march and all the other horrors. Clearly these people will never need an apology.until they admit to their wrongs, and apologize to all the other countries, as well as get those criminals out of that shrine.
Sad for a nation such as japan who wrought hell upon many an innocent soul for decades thinks they are owed an apology especially when by and large they, the japanese, have what is the equivalent to historical amnesia.
Why don't we just drop a nuclear bomb in afghanistan or iraq?? why didn't we just dropped a bomb in north vietnam or korea??? that way they wouldn't have gone to war against us.Maybe we should just drop nuclear bombs in every war to cause massive damage to our enemies.Fucking moron.
@tito8512 Hey, dumbass, did you know the dead by A-bombs number NOTHING compared to those died in the Tokyo firebombing? And nothing compared to what the Japanese DID BY HAND in Nanking, China? Killing 300,000+ ppl with swords is different from dropping a bomb. And Japan isn't sorry at all. Their OFFICIAL stance is "The (Asian) Holocaust never happened." say all evidence as Frauds; even the Nazi witness John Rabe found it atrocious beyond reality. But no one talks about that now, do they?
i do truly feel for all people who died with no involvement of the japanese military campaign and do whole heartedly wish that these weapons were limited only to their destructive power and didn't involve the aspect of radiation and all sicknesses and deaths that were suffered as direct result of it (radiation). but again.. pearl harbor. they started it. i have a respect for japanese people and ways and wish those 2 locations could've been military installations only.
@jasmoof23de and who cries for Dresden? How many ppl were not involved? But even the surviving Germans of Nazi Germany then would feel sorry for doing nothing when Hitler went crazy. Just as an Imperialist, the civilians simply ignored just what cruelty their government was doing abroad to have Japanese ppl fattened +swaddled in silk--It's just too easy to ignore: every other Asian were regarded as livestock. Read what Japanese teachers did to lynch Asians and call them only fit for pig fodder.
i'll start by saying that you made some good points, sure. but a little off point if you ask me. if you could go back to pearl harbor around the time of their savage attack on us and ask survivors and families of victims what they think about it. considering thats what pulled us directly into war with the japanese and indirectly with the germans, i think it's only a question of if those attacks were necessary for victory.
@jasmoof23de but that's not all there is to the issue. to keep it short: the bomb saved both Japan itself and American soldiers, and freed COUNTLESS enslaved to this Imperialistic, Nazi-like military regime. The ppl suffered DECADES LONGER, if not worse, than conquered Europeans did.
@abolishprivileges And Japan was CLEARLY against their own signed Washington Naval Treaty, increasing their naval tonnage, and THEN attacking USA without declaring war. And don't believe their "oh it was an accident" lie, they did THE SAME THING in the Sino-Jap and Russo-Jap war too!
When it comes to the naval treaty, both Japan and US cheated. although you dont hear about the negative news of the other side. Attacking the US without declaring war? The problem you have is that you completely ignore stories that refute your position. You probably dont know about 5-5-3 and US forcing UK to break the alliance with Japan.
on May 3 ,1951General MacArthur responded to Senator Hickenlooper.that
"The Japanese lack cotton, they lack wool, they lack petroleum products, they lack tin, they lack rubber, they lack a great many other things, all of which was in the Asiatic basin. They feared that if those supplies were cut off, there would be 10 to 12 million people unoccupied in Japan.Their purpose, therefore, in going to war was largely dictated by security."
@abolishprivileges Wow. Massive fail. Talking about wanting things to be the way that you want them. In a nutshell it was the japanese who broke several treaties with the world and the then Allies, which were UK, US, Holland, France, etc. It was japan who knew the consequences of its actions if they broke the treaties. The js have nothing to whine about. It was their fault pure and simple. To think otherwise is blasphemous and wishful thinking.
@awesome5002 "the emperor at that time killed himself before the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki."
Huh? Looks like you're confusing Hirohito with Hitler. Emperor Hirohito lived from 1901 to 1989 and never committed suicide. I suggest you re-learn modern history before spreading lies like this.
i disagree with u, u see not only did the US bomb twice but there were atomic bombs the causes radiations that could stay over a 100 yrs or more n is not worth living with it plus attacking to innocent people is just not right put ur self in their place those people didnt deserve to die eve if japan were to attack i bet they were warn the US n make a war another place farther away from the innocent to pay back with the same dime n who the hell needs pride in there countriy
@animegrl207 Well, why didn't Japanese surrender? The U.S HAD warned the Japanese, but they didn't reply, so U.S Have to drop the bomb, Since German had already gave up, so US had to drop it to end WWII.
@animegrl207 Um, get off the emotional rhetorical crap. hiroshima and nagasaki are modern thriving metropolises with no problems of radiation. You should be more worried about the problems and issues the japanese government caused in FUKUSHIMA instead.
Um, get off the emotional rhetorical crap. hiroshima and nagasaki are modern thriving metropolises with no problems of radiation. You should be more worried about the problems and issues the japanese government caused in FUKUSHIMA instead
lmmfao....Does anyone truely at that time, honestly what we know about the Japanese soldier and fanatics of their so called honor then really believe they would have negotiated a surrender???Keep in mind that after the first bomb was dropped it didn't even change their minds....negotiations would have been futile. There was only two options...The bomb or invasion and which would have been more costly.
@TheLillucie War is hell and thats how it goes.Noone dropping those bombs wanted to kill civilians but at that time just how the fuck were we going to get the Japanese government to surrender? and if you think a land invasion would have created less casualties please explain? What would you have done different to deal with the atrosities commited by the Japanese?
watch this sometime. Your claims could be all wrong.
>
Noone dropping those bombs wanted to kill civilians but at that time just how the fuck were we going to get the Japanese government to surrender? and if you think a land invasion would have created less casualties please explain? What would you have done different to
many people see the Hiroshima bomb as a senseless murder but the Japanese people at that time were told by the Japanese government that Americans were savages that would do worse things to them than they did to our POWS a lot of japanese civilians would have grabbed a gun and started to shoot at the US troops and we would have had to kill them anyway there were cases where they threw they're own children and themselves off a cliff before being captured by america.
Great Video-and so true! This man hit the nail right on the head. Japan will never apologize for anything they did. Many thousands of lives on both sides were saved due to us dropping these bombs. His analogy is very good. Also Russis is a good point too. Trumans decision to drop these bombs saved many, many
American and Japanese lives. The manaical war lords would not capitulate, or
surrender. Thse two bombs-made that happen. They ended the war!
The purpose of war is to defeat the enemy, not to target innocent civilians. Sherman did not attack the Confederacy to discourage the military from fighting; he destroyed civilian food supplies and food production to starve out the civilian population. There is a profound moral difference between civilians being caught in the cross fire and civilians being deliberately targeted.
Remember Beast Butler?
We can act with integrity or be forever challenged to justify our actions.
the US will apologize for the atomic bomb when the japanese apologize for the bataan death march, the rape of ninjing, the invasion of the nations around them, the killing and raping of the polynesian people , and the torture, slaughter and even eating of US POWS.
In case you do not know it. The CIA, FBI, NSA, DHS, and other agencys we do not even know about are over run with people from familys involved in old times moffia, old times eguenics, modern day zionism, and present day banking control interests. They have no honor in war. There only god is money and the power to rule and kill it brings. In short when the Iranians tell us our government is the great Satin, do not think they are just being negitive. They know it and are warning the world.
This guy is example of the mind set of the population in USA. Patton would never have approved the methods used by the army airforce at ending year of WWII. Patton had honor and when he fought he fought aposing solders, not civilians. When you murder civilians to terrorize leadership to accept terms of serrender you break a rule of law, called murder. The reason killing is allowed in war is because you are in the act of self defence. When you kill a solder in war you have honor, civilians shame
This Guy is absolutely 100% right...you have to remember that the Japanese started the war (and not just pearl harbor) but through there conquest of the south pacific and they had killed many "civilians" along their path.
Before the U.S. dropped the 2 atom bombs there were countless missions where tons and tons of incendiary bombs were dropped (without surrender) and it took the 2 atomic bombs for Japan to finally surrender.
I'm sorry that it happened, I don't like any people dieing or being hurt in any way. Didn't they drop the 2 bombs as a result of pearl harbor being attacked on a sunday morning (while) the japan goverment was in the US assurring piece between japan and the US?
Your supposed to attack soldiers not the people. You ignorant american cunt!!! No wonder I LAUGH at your 911 twin towers. Isn't it about time the USA got bombed again? I Hope so!! Fuck you, you cunt!!! :P
I am an American man. I know that Japan certainly had to be militarily defeated, and I commend Truman for compassionately urging the Japanese to surrender in order to avoid continued devastation. I wonder if it would have been possible to induce the Japanese to surrender by inviting their representatives to view nuclear testing in America so that they would be deterred and surrender before the bomb actually had to be used against Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I hope that it will never be needed again
Japan was months away from planned attacks on San Diego with germ bombs. Japan too was developing their own atomic weapon and I have no doubt they would have used it. An invasion of Japan itself would have taken millions of more lives.
The bomb in a real sense saved lives both Japanese and Allied by bring the war to a quick end.
@tenacioustaut Research before you laugh. I did not say they had nukes but they were working and researching to develop them. As for germ bombs research Shiro Ishii who was even decorated for his
development and use of germ bombs on civilians in China. Take you head out of the sand. Japan has even
apologized for their use of these weapons. Not lies, just facts.
Aerial bombardment for the purpose of terrorizing the civilian population, of destroying or damaging private property not of military character, or of injuring non-combatants is prohibited.
Aerial bombardment for the purpose of terrorizing the civilian population, of destroying or damaging private property not of military character, or of injuring non-combatants is prohibited.
As an American, I'm sorry those bombs took so many civilian lives. Even to this day the people of a country have little say over whether or not to go to war. While it was certainly a terrible event, it seemed to be the only way of stopping a new dictator from taking control of Japan and a way of minimizing war casualties. Japan was the aggressor in WW2, it was inevitable terrible things would happen. Again, it appears it was necessary but my heart still goes out to the innocent who were killed.
I am not sure what's Japan religion custom, but no GOD WOULD TELL THEIR PEOPLE TO COMMIT SUCIDE OR MURDER. I FELL WW2 WAS GOD WAS IN EVERY ALLIED SOLIDER TO FIGHT THESE DEVIL SOLIDERS THAT WERE MARCHING ON THE GATES. I THINK JAPAN SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO THE ENTIRE PACFIC COUNTRIES AND CHINA FOR THE MURDERS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, SO NO.
It's strange that many American historians insist that the Japanese emperor was responsible for war crimes during WWII. Yet, ironically, it was also the US that saved the Japanese emperor when all the other countries wanted the Japanese emperor's head.
Americans argue that if the Japense emperor had been killed, that would have damaged the Japanese society, and Russians would have been able to take over Japan.
That's just stupid logic. The US could have ruled Japan like Germany!
First of all, the interpretation concerning the war is formed with "Historical view in each country" and "Freedom of individual thought". And, the interpretation should be based on historical fact. Of course, I think that Mr.Marano always insists on objective and impartial opinion in his own way.
I want to object only a little based on these major premises.
The secret agreement in Yalta did not notice though Japan relied on the Japanese-Soviet neutrality pact because Japanese Government thought, "The continuance of the war is already difficult".
However, President Truman ordered the atomic bombing. he spoke, "Japan refused surrender".
That is, Uncle Sam dropped the atomic bomb though he knew "Japanese intention of the surrender" and "Participation of the Soviet Union".
The purpose of the atomic bombing was not "Conclusion of the war."
2nd is a necessity of an objective interpretation based on International Law.
For instance, the above-mentioned secret agreement and the atomic bombing are international lawbreakings. actually, there were an International Law violations in both Japan and USA.
In addition, it contradicts International Law also even in Tokyo war crimes tribunal. in short, we have not calmly yet confirmed them each other.
However, we have such various problems but we are still allies.
Because the two countries existed after piling a lot of histories and results, and the two countries people had an advanced national focus. we were advanced countries 100 years or more, and existed both in the front of the international society.
As for us, the pending problem was held but a calm reciprocity relationship was still possible. but it is not possible to escape it permanently.
We are not already the relations to hate each other.
@lahyatnok What are you talking about? Japanese just want the US to apologize for using atomic bombs. Americans are not willing to do so because of Pearl Harbor and the way the Japanese Army tortured American soldiers. Look up Bataan Death March. Compared with the way that the Japanese treated American soldiers, Japanese Americans should consider themselves very lucky that they were not tortured in the same way in the US.
@lahyatnok It's really gross that the Japanese media only concentrate how Japanese Americans were discriminated in the US. They never really think about where the hatred toward Japanese came from.
Think about Pearl Harbor and think about Bataan Death March.
@lahyatnok A lot of Japanese seem to be confused. In the US, when people argue that atomic bombs save innocent lives. Their main focus is the not the Japanese that could have been killed when the US army had chosen to enter Japan.
Their main focus is probably the Chinese, Koreans, and Filipinos that were terrorized, tortured, and murdered by the Japanese Army.
@lahyatnok To be honest with you, you are being very NAIVE. When Americans say that atomic bombs ended up the war, Americans are not just talking about ending the war for Americans and Japanese. You have to take other countries into consideration.
Other asian countries do no like the US, but they did and still need America's support for their own countries' safety.
There is an old saying that asian countries celebrated with joy when the US dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. That's all.
@lahyatnok You can interpret the laws in any way that you want. It will never make a real difference because Japanese pissed off too many people around the world.
Japanese seem to be the only ones that condemn America's use of atomic bombs. That is it. Even anti-America countries are not interested in defending Japan.
Get over the atomic bombs and concentrate on the present. Stop demanding the apology from the US. Seriously, what is the point?
@lahyatnok I'm glad that you can see that the US and Japan are still allies. So maybe you need to think about why some Japanese still demand an apology from the US. I get the feeling that some Japanese take the friendship with the US for granted.
You guys need to understand that if the US had not give Japan tremendous finanacial support after WWII, Japan would have been taken over by the Soviet Union.
@lahyatnok The Japanese Army killed way too many innocent people. The number was so large that even to this day, new research and new discoveries simply increase the number of victims that died in the hands of the Japanese Army.
The US's major goal was not to save innocent lives (not the lives of Japanese anyway), the US wanted to punish Japan! Simple as that.
After Pearl Harbor and Bataan Death March, the US simply had it with Japan. That's all.
@ttiiyy More Like GOD wanted the Allied soliders to Punish the Axis countries. If anything Japan should apologize to all the Pacfic countries and China firstfor hurting them then the US.
@lahyatnok Japan was very lucky that it was not divided into different parts like Germany, which was coruled by not only Soviet Union but also different European countries.
The US was so afraid Soviet Union that it decided to protect Japan and save the Japanese Emperor.
Americans can bitch about their decisions all they want; it is what it is. They were the ones that made the final decisions.
They could have worked with European nations and coruled Japan in the way as Germany.
@lahyatnok EVERYONE knew that the US did not really care about saving innocent Japanese.
I am an American, and I firmly believed that the US president wanted to TORTURE Japanese ON PURPOSE.
It's not really a surprise to anyone. There are many motivations for the US to do so. Pearl Harbor was the first one, and the later Bataan Death March caused Americans to hate Japan even more.
The way that the Japanese Army totured European prisoners also disgusted the American public.
@lahyatnok Americans are not stupid. Nobody in the US really buys this whole argument that the atomic bombs prevented the deaths of more Japanese civilians if the US Army had to invade Japan. However, we defend this argument just to protect the nation's image. We do so for the same reasons that the Japanese today argue that the Japanese emperor was not really involved with the war. It's all about protecting a nation's image. That's all.
@lahyatnok You really should not care so much about the way Americans interpret the use of atomic bombs. I firmly believe that most Americans are not buying that argument any way. People in the US (in those days) HATED Japanese to the guts. Pearl Harbor will never be justified. Bataan Death March where the Japanese Army tortured and killed captured American soldiers will never be justified. Americans simply wanted to punish Japanese, that's all.
@lahyatnok Other asian countries' attitudes are probably other major reasons that Americans do not feel the pressure of apologizing to Japan. After all, Japanese did kill a lot of innocent people in China, Korea, and the Phillipines. These countries CELEBRATED with joy when the US dropped the atomic bombs. Americans know that, and they are secretly HAPPY about it. Both you and I know that.
@lahyatnok Historical interpretations never really mean anything. Some Japanese now argue that comfort women were willing to serve Japanese soldiers on their own free will in order to make money. Do all Japanese truly believe that? I don't think so. So why do some Japanese say it? Because they don't want people to criticize Japan any more.
The same thing applies to the US. Why do we defend using atomic bombs? Because we dont' more Japanese to trash the US.
@lahyatnok In the near future, you'll never get an apology from the US for two reasons:
1.) Other asian countries still have resentment toward the US. And their own ambassadors in the US have already hinted that the US does not need to apologize for using atomic bombs. They AGREE with the US that atomic bombs SAVED their own countries.
2.) War crimes such as Pearl Harbor and Bataan Death March are not the kinds of things that Americans can easily forget.
I think it was bad to drop the bomb, those were innocent people, they had nothing to do with the war. Warfare is not to be used on innocent civilians. And it is not technology to be used on people.
this is why the japanese never apologized about the war crimes they have commited. the japanese dont need to apologize to anyone for what they've done. i think its fair
We bombed them to save American lives. We thought If we invaded them like we did d day we would have a lot more american casualties. So we decided to prevent that.
japanese murdered unarmed civilians in south east asia by the thousands. rape of nanking 300 000 chinese civilians killed . korean women kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery in ww2. japan has never made any official apology for it war crimes.the usa gave clear warnings to japan before dropping the bombs so the blood of the japanese killed are on their leaders heads. even after the 1st a bomb they refused to surrender. japan started the war and got what it deserved.
Japan official apologisch to the Philippines, to the countries in south east asi! Japan never apologisch to China, because the commies said there where 16 million Chinese killed. The nationalist said there where 8 millions killed??
@lachter786 there was no explicit apology . the emperor must kneel and knock his forehead on the floor and say outright the japanese was completely wrong to invade and must pay monies too.
@lachter786 Japan denies plenty of things. Some Japanese veterans finally confessed for human experiments. The Japanese government won't admit it anyway. That's just the way Japan is.
we vaporized there people .those people were inocent as they had no say in what their government did or didn't do(only children are inocent in america )(if our government doesn't do what we want it is our own falt).the action was theirs the responsibilty for all that happend is theirs the japanese government should apologize to their people and oursfor wahat happend .if you do a thing you are responsible for what happens
I think it was possible for USA to drop atomic bomb somewhere near by to japan, to threaten Japan first that they should end the war if they don't want USA to drop them on cities of japan. republicans of america were against using it back then, so i read. i like tony and i have respect for him, but i can't quite agree with this one. but it's not a debate japan can win. as we say "anything can happen with war. war is about killing and defeating the enermy. that's war is all about"
What else would have made the Japanese surrender? The Americans unleashed something people of ages past would describe as nothing other than hell-fire, the first time they did this the Japanese didn't flinch!
More Japanese would've died had the war drawn out slowly, it was the right decision, the end.
I'd also like to point out that Japan's relief effort response time was about 4 hours while a flood takes the US 2 days to respond to.
Who really cares more about their people I wonder.
@bigbatonline The j-govt trained the civilian population to fight the would be Allied invasion known as the j-civilian militia. It was VERY large and extensive. They had training in modern weaponry and explosives. They had already fought in Saipan, Okinawa, Hokkaido and japan's colonies of the time. They even trained little 5 yr old kids to roll under Sherman tanks to blow them up with dynamite in their backpacks. Those little kids were nicknamed "Sherman's Carpets" by j-leaders. That is sick.
@bigbatonline If japan had nuclear bombs, they would've used them against big US cities, not to end the war, but to completely take over US and replace the american population with japanese people, remember that japan was ultra nationalistic and was siding up with NAZI GERMANY, ´a nuclear bomb was the only quick solution to end the war and focus on germany, remember that americans aided the russians against germany? What would have happened if they just continued to war against japan?
Although I think that USA should apolocize IT'S OWN PEOPLE and vietnam for the Vietnam war, I agree that USA JAPAN case is different.
Japan started the war, was allied with nazi germany (This wasn't a coincidence, japan and germany admired eachother for their racial thoughts and homogenous people). The japanese supported 731 unit, if you don't know, check it out and their "experiments" on people.
The japanese would never surrender, nuclear bomb japanese industrial town was the only way.
It was war. Yeah. :P You Americans sure love those wars, evryone who say they don't feel bad about certain people loosing their lifes in wars are quite frankly retarded. Ther is always two sides of the coin.
@Imhornydadcomeinside Yup. Not saying it was right at all. All i said and i still stand for it is that anyone who is proud or dosen't feel with people loosing their lifes on eather side in wars are retarded. Not saying that evryone should mourn any side, it's the fact that some people take pride in their countrys killing. And that's disgusting.
@Rekkie88 The vietcongs were just defending their land like the american south would defend their land against the british if they were siding up with the north., it was really a war between south and north, a "civil war".
Oh and the atomic bombing was just divine retribution on our part. If the Japs or any of those gooks want war, we'll give them war and oblivion. Simple as that.
LOL I say Japs can FUCK OFF for all I care. Those fuckers bombed Pearl Harbor and killed my grandfather with all of my proud Americans. Not to mention that they even killed and raped their own kin, as well as rest of their Asian neighbors. I agree with this video and those Japanese sympathizers and ass kissers needs to be destroyed if they believe Japan deserves an apology. Obviously, they either lack sympathy towards the victims or they're just not well versed in Jap's heinous crimes.
@ITrollGooks I don't know if they killed their own kids, sounds like propaganda to me, BUT THEY DID drug their own citisen so that they could work harder for the war, that is true.
The President already knew the japs were coming, he did nothing about it because it was in america's best interest to get involved, just like 9/11, they needed a way to get the public to go along with the plan
I highly recomment watching prelude to war.... it's about 7 hours worth of mostly everything that had happened before the U.S. was forced into wwll....
Japanese commit atrocities in China> U.S. learns of this, and cuts off supplies to Japan>Japan reacts by attacking Pearl Harbor> U.S. is drawn into WWII> After Europe conflict is over, Japan still refuses to surrender>A-Bomb
only if they aologize for pearl , batan death march and what ever eles its like a school bully crack that motherfucker hard enough in the nose he will back down
It writes it by poor English. If it is not possible to read, I'm sorry.
It became study very much being able to hear American's idea. "What damage occurs when an atomic bomb is dropped?"If everybody knows this, I am satisfied.
The future,an atomic bomb might be used though they are very few possibilities.
After using the bomb, please do not say, "I did not know".Please learn the precedent.
Why is the history studied?I think that it is the one learnt to make the better future.
Operation downfall would have been a nightmare, and i highly doubt any Japanese here, and many Americans,British, and Canadians would be posting comments had it happened.
I, like Tony and most 9.4 out of 10 Americans love the Japanese, and Japan- but like Tony said..this was war. I feel remorse for the civilians caught in the blasts, but we had to prevent operation downfall from happening. The naval blockade had failed to force a surrender, the bombing campaign had failed to force a sunder, and the Soviets had launched an invasion of China, Korea, and prepared to invade Japan as well.
There are so many in surplus that combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan are able to keep Purple Hearts on-hand for immediate award to wounded soldiers on the field
Within 90 days of operation Cornet and Olympic alone it was estimated we would suffer over a million loses and 250,000 fatalities, and to the Allie's horror the the Japanese devised Operation Ketsugo that clearly indicates Japan knew where the allies would land, and had prepared an ambush for the allied fleets.
Almost 500,000 Purple Heart medals were manufactured in just to cover the casualties that would be suffered from operation downfall. To the present date, all the American military casualties of the sixty years following the end of World War II—including the Korean and Vietnam Wars—have not exceeded that number. In 2003, there were still 120,000 of these Purple Heart medals in stock.
A study done by William Shockley (for the Secretary of War ) estimated that invading Japan Japan would cost 1.7 to 4 million American casualties, including 400,000 to 800,000 fatalities, and five to ten million Japanese fatalities. This was triple the loses that we had suffered during the entire course of the war in the Pacific and in Europe. Unbelievably, most believed these to be conserv ative estimates.
Operation downfall was the codename given to the allied invasion of the Japanese main islands that would have taken place on November 1, 1945, and the 2nd half on March 1, 1946. It consisted of two main operations, operation Cornet (the invasion of Tokyo bay) and operation Olympic (the invasion of Kyushu) .
"In November 1954, five months before his death, Einstein summarized his feelings about his role in the creation of the atomic bomb: "I made one great mistake in my life... when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt recommending that atom bombs be made; but there was some justification - the danger that the Germans would make them.""
sekamenacerecords1 1 week ago
The atomic bombings of Japan occurred three months after the surrender of Germany, whose potential for creating a Nazi a-bomb had led Einstein to push for the development of an a-bomb for the Allies. Einstein withheld public comment on the atomic bombing of Japan until a year afterward. A short article on the front page of the New York Times contained his view:
sekamenacerecords1 1 week ago
@sekamenacerecords1 "Prof. Albert Einstein... said that he was sure that President Roosevelt would have forbidden the atomic bombing of Hiroshima had he been alive and that it was probably carried out to end the Pacific war before Russia could participate." Einstein later wrote, "I have always condemned the use of the atomic bomb against Japan."

look i know the purpose of war but this was too far, even one bomb, but they i mean us, the second bomb was because they didnt surrender the way we wanted. we burn women and childern alive , we turned them to ashes, then we have been sudying them ever since. and why because they tried to take over another country, again one amercian life is not greater then any other life, it was wrong, and keep in mind what we say is ok then keep your mouth shut when some one does it to us,

SatchmoSings 5 months ago
@SatchmoSings exactly. sure... they were mostly if not all innocent people... but we sent a damn good message that we weren't f-ing around. Along with the Russians invading japan occupied China and the a-bomb ended the war. Period.

@Pulseless666 Hiroshima was the headquarters of The Japanese Home Army so it was a genuine military target on the way to "Operation Downfall."
SatchmoSings 5 months ago
@Pulseless666 The US had a true, citizen army in those days; I would then assume, from a portion of your comment, that you didn't consider the average "G.I. Joe" to be, ultimately another innocent person; citizen armies had been a reality for quite some time; there were very few "professional soldiers" in WW2 despite what seems to be your otherwise claim.
SatchmoSings 5 months ago
@SatchmoSings A G.I. IS just an average person... its not until u put a weapon in there hand that they become a private. this is ridiculous. the allies even told the japanese that they had this kind of weapon, and asked for their surrender. the japanese did not listen and got nuked. before a bombing of a city happened, whether it be napalm or conventional bombing, propaganda leaflets were dropped on japanese cities saying "you will be bombed in 72 hours. watch how powerless your government is to stop it." and still the japanese did not surrender until after the 2nd nuke

@NocturnalF0x Thank you for this comment, maybe propagandabuster should do a video about what the japs did to the Chinese in Nanking, the allies during the Bataan march and all the other horrors. i do truly feel for all people who died with no involvement of the japanese military campaign and do whole heartedly wish that these weapons were limited only to their destructive power and didn't involve the aspect of radiation and all sicknesses and deaths that were suffered as direct result of it (radiation). but again.. pearl harbor. they started it. i have a respect for japanese people and ways and wish those 2 locations could've been military installations only.
jasmoof23de 8 months ago
@jasmoof23de and who cries for Dresden? How many ppl were not involved? But even the surviving Germans of Nazi Germany then would feel sorry for doing nothing when Hitler went crazy. Just as an Imperialist, the civilians simply ignored just what cruelty their government was doing abroad to have Japanese ppl fattened +swaddled in silk--It's just too easy to ignore: every other Asian were regarded as livestock. Read what Japanese teachers did to lynch Asians and call them only fit for pig fodder.
CrabTastingMan 7 months ago
i'll start by saying that you made some good points, sure. but a little off point if you ask me. if you could go back to pearl harbor around the time of their savage attack on us and ask survivors and families of victims what they think about it. considering thats what pulled us directly into war with the japanese and indirectly with the germans, i think it's only a question of if those attacks were necessary for victory.
jasmoof23de 8 months ago
@jasmoof23de but that's not all there is to the issue. to keep it short: the bomb saved both Japan itself and American soldiers, and freed COUNTLESS enslaved to this Imperialistic, Nazi-like military regime. The ppl suffered DECADES LONGER, if not worse, than conquered Europeans did.

Hello Mr.Marano and All American.
First of all, the interpretation concerning the war is formed with "Historical view in each country" and "Freedom of individual thought". And, the interpretation should be based on historical fact. Of course, I think that Mr.Marano always insists on objective and impartial opinion in his own way.
I want to object only a little based on these major premises.
lahyatnok 11 months ago
1st is a rebuttal to erroneous findings of fact.
I do not think that a lot of Americans know the interpretation by other side information(This is my subjectivity).
"The atomic bombing brought the end of war forward, and saved a lot of lives consequentially."
I think that ↑ is the most famous opinion in the United States.
However, such an interpretation is a mistake.
Japan was percussing the mediation of surrender to the Soviet Union, and Uncle Sam knew this fact.
lahyatnok 11 months ago
The secret agreement in Yalta did not notice though Japan relied on the Japanese-Soviet neutrality pact because Japanese Government thought, "The continuance of the war is already difficult".
However, President Truman ordered the atomic bombing. he spoke, "Japan refused surrender".
That is, Uncle Sam dropped the atomic bomb though he knew "Japanese intention of the surrender" and "Participation of the Soviet Union".
The purpose of the atomic bombing was not "Conclusion of the war."
lahyatnok 11 months ago

We are not already the relations to hate each other.
lahyatnok 11 months ago
And, I am convinced that there is "Something that cannot be found if it doesn't think backward".
And, I think that it makes the relationship between two countries stronger.
Now, what we should abhor is not "Nuclear weapon" or "Past war crime".
I think it is taboo.
lahyatnok 11 months ago
@lahyatnok What are you talking about? Japanese just want the US to apologize for using atomic bombs. Americans are not willing to do so because of Pearl Harbor and the way the Japanese Army tortured American soldiers. Look up Bataan Death March. Compared with the way that the Japanese treated American soldiers, Japanese Americans should consider themselves very lucky that they were not tortured in the same way in the US.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok It's really gross that the Japanese media only concentrate how Japanese Americans were discriminated in the US. They never really think about where the hatred toward Japanese came from.
Think about Pearl Harbor and think about Bataan Death March.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok A lot of Japanese seem to be confused. In the US, when people argue that atomic bombs save innocent lives. Their main focus is the not the Japanese that could have been killed when the US army had chosen to enter Japan.
Their main focus is probably the Chinese, Koreans, and Filipinos that were terrorized, tortured, and murdered by the Japanese Army.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok To be honest with you, you are being very NAIVE. When Americans say that atomic bombs ended up the war, Americans are not just talking about ending the war for Americans and Japanese. You have to take other countries into consideration.
Other asian countries do no like the US, but they did and still need America's support for their own countries' safety.
There is an old saying that asian countries celebrated with joy when the US dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. That's all.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok You can interpret the laws in any way that you want. It will never make a real difference because Japanese pissed off too many people around the world.
Japanese seem to be the only ones that condemn America's use of atomic bombs. That is it. Even anti-America countries are not interested in defending Japan.
Get over the atomic bombs and concentrate on the present. Stop demanding the apology from the US. Seriously, what is the point?
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok I'm glad that you can see that the US and Japan are still allies. So maybe you need to think about why some Japanese still demand an apology from the US. I get the feeling that some Japanese take the friendship with the US for granted.
You guys need to understand that if the US had not give Japan tremendous finanacial support after WWII, Japan would have been taken over by the Soviet Union.
So for your own good, stop demanding the apology.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok The Japanese Army killed way too many innocent people. The number was so large that even to this day, new research and new discoveries simply increase the number of victims that died in the hands of the Japanese Army.
The US's major goal was not to save innocent lives (not the lives of Japanese anyway), the US wanted to punish Japan! Simple as that.
After Pearl Harbor and Bataan Death March, the US simply had it with Japan. That's all.

They could have worked with European nations and coruled Japan in the way as Germany.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok EVERYONE knew that the US did not really care about saving innocent Japanese.
I am an American, and I firmly believed that the US president wanted to TORTURE Japanese ON PURPOSE.
It's not really a surprise to anyone. There are many motivations for the US to do so. Pearl Harbor was the first one, and the later Bataan Death March caused Americans to hate Japan even more.
The way that the Japanese Army totured European prisoners also disgusted the American public.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok Americans are not stupid. Nobody in the US really buys this whole argument that the atomic bombs prevented the deaths of more Japanese civilians if the US Army had to invade Japan. However, we defend this argument just to protect the nation's image. We do so for the same reasons that the Japanese today argue that the Japanese emperor was not really involved with the war. It's all about protecting a nation's image. That's all.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok You really should not care so much about the way Americans interpret the use of atomic bombs. I firmly believe that most Americans are not buying that argument any way. People in the US (in those days) HATED Japanese to the guts. Pearl Harbor will never be justified. Bataan Death March where the Japanese Army tortured and killed captured American soldiers will never be justified. Americans simply wanted to punish Japanese, that's all.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok Other asian countries' attitudes are probably other major reasons that Americans do not feel the pressure of apologizing to Japan. After all, Japanese did kill a lot of innocent people in China, Korea, and the Phillipines. These countries CELEBRATED with joy when the US dropped the atomic bombs. Americans know that, and they are secretly HAPPY about it. Both you and I know that.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok Historical interpretations never really mean anything. Some Japanese now argue that comfort women were willing to serve Japanese soldiers on their own free will in order to make money. Do all Japanese truly believe that? I don't think so. So why do some Japanese say it? Because they don't want people to criticize Japan any more.
The same thing applies to the US. Why do we defend using atomic bombs? Because we dont' more Japanese to trash the US.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
@lahyatnok In the near future, you'll never get an apology from the US for two reasons:
1.) Other asian countries still have resentment toward the US. And their own ambassadors in the US have already hinted that the US does not need to apologize for using atomic bombs. They AGREE with the US that atomic bombs SAVED their own countries.
2.) War crimes such as Pearl Harbor and Bataan Death March are not the kinds of things that Americans can easily forget.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
I think it was bad to drop the bomb, those were innocent people, they had nothing to do with the war. Warfare is not to be used on innocent civilians. And it is not technology to be used on people.

japanese murdered unarmed civilians in south east asia by the thousands. rape of nanking 300 000 chinese civilians killed . korean women kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery in ww2. japan has never made any official apology for it war crimes.the usa gave clear warnings to japan before dropping the bombs so the blood of the japanese killed are on their leaders heads. even after the 1st a bomb they refused to surrender. japan started the war and got what it deserved.

The apology is for all innocent civilians. Not for Japanese Gov.
U.S.A can bomb Japanese military base. Not to bomb the civilians.
Jesus will punish those who kill innocent people.

Not to mention that they even killed and raped their own kin, as well as rest of their Asian neighbors. The purpose of the atom bomb throwing down to Japan by U.S.A.
A check for the Soviet Union.
Experiment on a human body.
For an American, the Japanese was only recognition as a vulgar animal.
U.S.A. knew the destructive power of the atom bomb.
With that in mind, they used an atom bomb.
The indiscriminate bombing to Tokyo by the United States Armed Forces regarded many private citizens as a target.

XxxSakura101 1 year ago
I, like Tony and most 9.4 out of 10 Americans love the Japanese, and Japan- but like Tony said..this was war. I feel remorse for the civilians caught in the blasts, but we had to prevent operation downfall from happening. The naval blockade had failed to force a surrender, the bombing campaign had failed to force a sunder, and the Soviets had launched an invasion of China, Korea, and prepared to invade Japan as well.
XxxSakura101 1 year ago
There are so many in surplus that combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan are able to keep Purple Hearts on-hand for immediate award to wounded soldiers on the field
Within 90 days of operation Cornet and Olympic alone it was estimated we would suffer over a million loses and 250,000 fatalities, and to the Allie's horror the the Japanese devised Operation Ketsugo that clearly indicates Japan knew where the allies would land, and had prepared an ambush for the allied fleets.
XxxSakura101 1 year ago
Almost 500,000 Purple Heart medals were manufactured in just to cover the casualties that would be suffered from operation downfall. To the present date, all the American military casualties of the sixty years following the end of World War II—including the Korean and Vietnam Wars—have not exceeded that number. In 2003, there were still 120,000 of these Purple Heart medals in stock.
XxxSakura101 1 year ago
A study done by William Shockley (for the Secretary of War ) estimated that invading Japan Japan would cost 1.7 to 4 million American casualties, including 400,000 to 800,000 fatalities, and five to ten million Japanese fatalities. This was triple the loses that we had suffered during the entire course of the war in the Pacific and in Europe. Unbelievably, most believed these to be conserv ative estimates.
XxxSakura101 1 year ago
Operation downfall was the codename given to the allied invasion of the Japanese main islands that would have taken place on November 1, 1945, and the 2nd half on March 1, 1946. It consisted of two main operations, operation Cornet (the invasion of Tokyo bay) and operation Olympic (the invasion of Kyushu) .
