I think we should be wary of conflating racism with colorism. Colorism in South Asian and other parts of Asia predates colonialism and has nothing to do with white people. I think the only time they enter the picture is when your parents think it's good you're marrying a gora/gori because you'll have light-skinned babies. Also, desi colorism is different from black colorism. We have our reasons and they have theirs (and theirs probably does have to do with racism, but ours doesn't).

Very good video. My ma, though Irish, marched in the civil rights 1960's. She worked in the 1925 F Street Club in Washington . She told us of ladies from the kitchen who used to march there, they told her she didnt belong there, being white.
