Just a little remark: The CO is not the same as car exhaust. That's just a very cheap way to make the product sound even worse than it is. The problem with adding CO is that it makes older Tilapia (and btw tuna as well) look as if it is fresh instead of aged and perhaps spoiling. Buy the tilapia from a good source (without added CO, because there is natural CO occuring as well) and you can be certain that you get what you pay for.
feel slightly sick and very disturbed..... just had frozen farm raised tilapia for dinner..... I rather raise my own when I can afford it and have the space.... hate being poor.... so grose
@Irishgirl41 fear not. There are cost effective ways to getting in control of what you eat and feed your family. While the recipes on my site are inspired by gourmet restaurants, with some careful planning eating can still be safe, enjoyable and inexpensive. We found that eliminating sugary and processed foods significantly reduce our grocery budget in addition to gardening. Subscribe to the blog for more tips.
After seeing a report on tainted meat being recalled from California schools about 3 years ago I stopped eating meat. You can find the video here on YouTube of a migrant worker pushing a sick cow with a fork lift in to a processing facility. Now I am not an animal rights activist, nor am I against migrant workers. However, exploiting a migrant population to serve sickly animals in utter filth for profit is just not something I am willing to support. I love watching videos like this. So Thanks !
@mellovox I know. Its really scary what is legally allowed to be put into our food. It is my understanding that many other nations, developed and undeveloped do not allow GMOs into the food and they don't have nearly as many catastrophic health issues as we do in the states, including some cancers and heart disease. I don't think its such a big mystery anymore.
I've seen that video and a few others about commercial food production. It's scarry what we have been eating. I had a backyard garden, but already moved to Aquaponics a couple of months ago and am growing my own tilapia. That salad looks awesome, I am going to try it.
I have heard from several people not to buy farm raised fish, and when I buy any fish I never really look at the package to see what else is in it (I guess I just assume it is fish.) I'm definitely going to start looking now! It is awful that companies get away with that. I'll have to check out that movie. Thank you so much for this video - great info! And great salad too :)

I like the idea of selectively harvesting leaves instead of entire heads. Great job!
