  • Sorry boys but this is Brian singing in a very damaged but still good voice.

  • Dennis' strange voice, as if woken up fast with a big hangover, does not destroy the song at all : in the contrary it gives it a deeper shade of soul and heart. A great underrated piece of art.

  • great song, but sad the quality of this post is so bad. it deserves the fine sound that was produced, there is no bass here whatsoever.

  • Another little BW hallmark gem ... no-one but Brian could come up with a song like this one. Nice lead vocal from Denny.

  • Marc Bolan mentioned this song in one of his final music paper columns!

  • @buickmackane71360 He was still alive then?

  • My names Mona lol

  • @cookie8576 well, mine is too ^^

  • I'm so in love, in love, in love with this song;):)

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, Mona...(whoever you are)

  • why is there no harmonies in this version?

  • Starting 1977, and no mather what their fans may say, almost every Beach Boys album is to be dismissed, as they all consist of unreleased crap from the past, plus some rare new songs, some good, but some as bad as the leftovers.

  • Cool...love this song...great vocals by Denny...;)

  • This catchy little tune is a tip of the cap from Brian to Phil Spector.

  • Dennis had this gruff yet gentle voice that I found endearing.

  • I am guessing that you literally google searched the word MONA and put the first few images into this video to fill space. AWFUL decision. I mean, i'm just freaked out man.

  • " I know you're gonna love Phil Spector " !!! How times have changed

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 lol. very true

  • @BeachBoysGuy1 Well, Brian's talking about Phil Spector's music, not the man himself. Brian loved Spector's music, but was hostile towards the man, himself, since the mid-60s. When Brian met Spector, he thought Spector was psycho, and he was proven right.

  • Love Denny's vocals. The photos of Brian are fantastic. Don't you just want to give him a huge hug and tell him everything will work out ok.

  • @MrJeeples But really things are ok for Brian. Both Dennis and Carl are dead. Brian is touring, he has a wonderful family. Things are ok for him now, so much more than before.

  • I reckon ONLY Brian Wilson could create such a 'weird', out-there kind of song like this one .. but which is so damned tantalisingly captivating & catchy, all at the very same time. It's structured in a way so it could just continue on forever, if he wanted it that way. Definitely one of the high-lights off the "BBs Love You" LP.. a very under-rated album. I still play it often, to this day, & gain immense enjoyment out of Brian's amusing little 'play-arounds' & nuances that he does on this LP.

  • actually thats Dennis singing lead

  • That's correct jhp

  • Does anyone know which songs brian does actually sing on Love You its hard to tell from this period

  • 'Mona', from their 'The Beach Boys Love You' LP (Reprise 2258) includes the lyric 'Come on, listen to 'Da Doo Ron Ron' now, listen to 'Be My Baby', I know you're gonna love Phil Spector'. A demo version appears on the bootleg LP 'Brian Loves You'.

  • It IS Dennis!

    GOD love the Wilson brothers!!!

  • In the 2000 liner notes Pete Buck wrote that Brian sang it. How could he mistake Dennis' voice???

  • I love this song !!!

  • This song really makes me feel happy!!!

  • the iguana's do a pretty good job with this one

  • I feel sorry for those who don't get how incredibly funny and hip and soulful this song is.

  • the beach boys LOVE YOU is the greatest album of the entire decade of the 70's bar none! ...and you can quote me on that. john

  • This was Dennis singing. A great little song - Brian's ode to Phil Spector.

  • I always like this one. Have not heard it since it was on vinyl when I was in High School. Thanks!

  • It's the late 70's; Brian is just emerging from his personal hell of the last decade. And here he is, coming up with a gem like this littel sweetie, Mona. Dig the bass lines - always a B.W. trademark. What class, what talent - a one in a billion god-given gift to humanity - our beloved Brian Wilson !!

  • Great compliment for this fine artist. I agree!

  • its so true this is a very underated song but so great

  • Mona is my middle name, I like this song.

  • my name's Mona, by the way! cool! nice song!

  • nice to hear dennis but as far as the song goes, songs like this made sure they never sold many albums, outside the hardcore fans ,after 76

  • sounds more like Dennis actually

  • @weezadam it is

  • I used to have this on an ep so glad you posted it

  • it's kinda more about his love for phil spector's music

  • caraphyllis, Dennis is the singer, but this song is about the Brian's tremendous suffering. It is one of the brian's most personal songs...

  • Would you clarify? I know Brian has suffered tremendously, but I'm not aware of how this particular song figures in. Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @papi35 Who said this song is about Phil Spector....? Anyone know about that?

  • @ClubViking63 He mentions him in the lyric "i know your going to love phil spector " like its a big deal to listen to a phil spector record on a date [ this was before he was in jail for murder]

  • love the song, love the Beach Boys, love Dennis. Thanks 4 posting=)

  • Considering that Dennis is singing lead, it would have been nice if you'd included at least one image of him on the vid.
