That pharmacist was carrying religion a little too far. The woman wanted a drug to help her terminate her pregnancy because her baby had already died inside the womb. She was already carrying around a dead baby. She and her husband had wanted this baby and it died anyway. She didn't want a drug to help her kill her baby. She wanted the drug to help her abort her already dead baby; a baby which she and her husband had wanted. That pharmacist was stupid.
People that agree with this position need to be just as "tolerant" of the position of a prolife pharmacist as they would ask others to be of their right to choose and understand that to a person who holds these convictions, you are asking them to become the agent responsible for dispensing medication that will KILL another human being. Pharmacists cannot refuse to dispense medication that is NEEDED, only that which is DESIRED. There is a difference.
I was worried that he wanted the poor woman to go to term with dead fetus inside her. Any how pharmacists should carry on their duties as professionals not as village priests.
@spawnhell809334 Thats not the point you moron - a pharmacist's duty is to help the patient - not an opportunity to impose one's personal beliefs on them.
pharmacists shouldnt refuse patients their medication its the womans choice. But this is giving a bad name to pharmacists. I think most and probably almost all pharmacists dispense the birth control its just a very small percent. And if a woman isnt able to get the birth control there are 10s or 100s of other pharmacys that dont care and she can go to a different one. that pharmacy will just lose business in the long run.
so your rights over ride the rights of individuals who choose not to participate? I will quit pharmacy before I will participate in the abortion of a pregnancy.. and let's highlight this one case in thousands where all the others are 18 yr olds that think there is no consequence to their repeated actions...
Having worked in a pharamcy as long as I have I cannot believe that a pharmacist would do this, that is just wrong. As long as you're not abusing your controlled substances, it's not our right to say you can or cannot have your prescriptions, this poor woman!
I'm sorry for those that have miscarriages. That really wish for a baby. But this must not interfere with others rights to choose what they want to do.
An unwanted baby have no guarantee for growing up in a loving home.
I'm sorry that these fundies don't realize that. DO NOT force ppl to have a baby they don't want.
If a pharmascist can deny someone the medication they need, then something ios wrong. This is the descision between the mother and the doctor, NOT the pharmasist..
what horse shit! i'm sorry your a pharmacist not a priest, you don't perscribe the med, you don't take the med and you have no right to interfere with the health care of another person.. the decision is between a woman, her doctor and her family, and her faith! if he wants to force his religion on people he should become a priest, not a pharmacist.
It's a sick world where a woman who's undeveloped fetus has died before developing, and some people think it's wrong to remove it! It's dead! It was never even a life in the first place! What right do all of you have to judge her? How many of you have had a dead fetus inside you? And you call yourselves ethical? I've seen more ethical murderers!
What if the patient doesn't live near another pharmacy (think small towns)? many comments are saying "it causes cancer". This is not why the pharmacist allegedly refused to give the drug. Do not congratulate him for trying to protect her health.
Her health wasn't in danger! She had a dead fetus inside her! If it was not removed it would cause infection, which is more of a health risk than some jumped up little pharmacists' personal religious beliefs! Patients do not need approval from an over glorified pill dispenser, neither do they need to justify the medication they are taking, that is not the role of a professional pharmacist! This is religious pc gone over the top! the doctor had cleared the woman, that was good enough!
Then... go to a different pharmacist? Isn't it the guy's right not to give it to you? Why does this woman feel entitled to forcing someone to give something to her?
"I will maintain the utmost respect for human life from the time of conception; even under threat, I will not use my medical knowledge contrary to the laws of humanity.. Similarly, I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. I will...do no harm."
Hippocratic Oath/Geneva Convention/Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Indeed. If a male comes into a pharmacy and wants some steroids, he's not going to get them. Finally, there are people behind the counter who are standing up for women's health and human rights as well. Pharmacists are too educated and more and more of them can see thru the killing lobby's lies. They are heros. The cancer and killing lobby is on the run. Word is out !
So the fact that this woman had a dead fetus within her which was never going to develop into a life form in the first place, and end up causing an infection which had the possibility of at least making her sterile, killing her at worst, doesn't come into the equation?! And you people have the outright arrogance to declare that you are ethical! You would see someone suffer, just to satisfy your own beliefs!! You are more twisted than the people you abuse so freely!
Ahem, the doctor gave her the medication. She says right in it. He just wouldn't give it if she was going to flush a viable child. She just seemed disturbed that he could say no to her.
I'm sorry, where does the doctor say what you have said? The fetus was already dead, so therefore she could not kill it! You cannot kill what is already dead, or was never alive in the first place! It has to be alive to be killed! The pharmacist, under UK and US law, has no right to deny medication prescribed by a legalised doctor! From the information provided by this video alone, the pharmacist acted wrongly! No-one has the right to force their beliefs upon another! This woman was right!
@MadMac2236 So under both UK and US laws pharmacist has the right to refuse dispensing a medication if that medication has the potential to cause harm...for example dispensing penicillin to a patient who is anaphylactic to penicillin (happens very frequently). There are numerous other examples when a pharmacist can "deny" medication...your blanket statement that a pharmacist has "no right" is wrong; however, what complicates this argument is Jesus freaks and alikes in the medical field...
You're right but you're also wrong! If the pharmacist believes that giving a prescription may cause harm, then they are duty bound to with-hold the medication until the doctor has been contacted and the appropriate checks made. However, as is in the case of the above video, the woman was refused medication because of the pharmacist's own personal beliefs, not any fear for the woman or her health! That's the point I've been trying to make (6 months ago). The woman was right, this pharmacist wrong!
There is nothing that is wrong in my statement...I never said the pharmacist was right...i think he's an idiot...pharmacist made a mistake when he beleived his parents' story about an invisible man in the sky who has earthly demands...everything after that was downhill...we're on the same page of this one i think...
These are cancer causing steroids that can and do kill mothers and children alike. Then they are flushed into our rivers and streams and deform the fish! That's why these poisons are often vomited up. Your body knows better!
Pharmacists who refuse to peddle these steroids are heros. THEY are the ones protecting the health of mothers and their children, not profitting from their destruction. Human rights begins with human life.
These are the stories that need to be heard and the voices that need defense! I'm glad people like Karen and her husband are part of the NARAL Pro-Choice movement.
