Pharmacy refusal story

That pharmacist was carrying religion a little too far. The woman wanted a drug to help her terminate her pregnancy because her baby had already died inside the womb. She was already carrying around a dead baby. She and her husband had wanted this baby and it died anyway. She didn't want a drug to help her kill her baby. She wanted the drug to help her abort her already dead baby; a baby which she and her husband had wanted. That pharmacist was stupid.

People that agree with this position need to be just as "tolerant" of the position of a prolife pharmacist as they would ask others to be of their right to choose and understand that to a person who holds these convictions, you are asking them to become the agent responsible for dispensing medication that will KILL another human being. Pharmacists cannot refuse to dispense medication that is NEEDED, only that which is DESIRED. There is a difference.

pharmacists shouldnt refuse patients their medication its the womans choice. But this is giving a bad name to pharmacists. I think most and probably almost all pharmacists dispense the birth control its just a very small percent. And if a woman isnt able to get the birth control there are 10s or 100s of other pharmacys that dont care and she can go to a different one. that pharmacy will just lose business in the long run.

Having worked in a pharamcy as long as I have I cannot believe that a pharmacist would do this, that is just wrong. As long as you're not abusing your controlled substances, it's not our right to say you can or cannot have your prescriptions, this poor woman!

Her health wasn't in danger! She had a dead fetus inside her! If it was not removed it would cause infection, which is more of a health risk than some jumped up little pharmacists' personal religious beliefs! Patients do not need approval from an over glorified pill dispenser, neither do they need to justify the medication they are taking, that is not the role of a professional pharmacist! Finally, there are people behind the counter who are standing up for women's health and human rights as well. Ahem, the doctor gave her the medication. She says right in it. He just wouldn't give it if she was going to flush a viable child. She just seemed disturbed that he could say no to her.

I'm sorry, where does the doctor say what you have said? The fetus was already dead, so therefore she could not kill it! You cannot kill what is already dead, or was never alive in the first place! It has to be alive to be killed! The pharmacist, under UK and US law, has no right to deny medication prescribed by a legalised doctor! From the information provided by this video alone, the pharmacist acted wrongly! No-one has the right to force their beliefs upon another! This woman was right!

@MadMac2236 So under both UK and US laws pharmacist has the right to refuse dispensing a medication if that medication has the potential to cause harm...for example dispensing penicillin to a patient who is anaphylactic to penicillin (happens very frequently). There are numerous other examples when a pharmacist can "deny" medication...your blanket statement that a pharmacist has "no right" is wrong; however, what complicates this argument is Jesus freaks and alikes in the medical field...

You're right but you're also wrong! If the pharmacist believes that giving a prescription may cause harm, then they are duty bound to with-hold the medication until the doctor has been contacted and the appropriate checks made. However, as is in the case of the above video, the woman was refused medication because of the pharmacist's own personal beliefs, not any fear for the woman or her health! That's the point I've been trying to make (6 months ago).The woman was right, this pharmacist wrong!
