I think that this is quite honestly a really classy move on Kanye's part. The song itself is an introspective commentary on his own demeanor. All the allusions of villainy are self targeted at himself or at his career. Although he states "runaway as fast as you can" at the end of the song, if you watched the VMAs the entire crowd was chanting "Kanye" over and over which says a lot about his general charisma despite his outlandish outburst of last year.
