  • God its weird seeing Tim alive... RIP buddy...

  • Hey I've got an idea how to prevent PTSD. Hold tight, here goes: DON'T GO TO WAR.

Soldiers are going over to Iraq and Afghanistan to protect our "freedom". However, I couldn't care less about what's happening there. What does the situation over there have anything to do with my freedom?

When another country directly attacks your country, by way of invasion (WW1, WW2 etc.) I can understand why you would go to war. However in case of Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, I seriously couldn't care less.

  • @Skire90

The fact that you can not think bigger than yourself speaks volumes beyond your comment. Congratulations at effectively demonstration to the public your being aptitude at being effectively living a narcissistic and weak existence.

    Fuck you.

  • I could be wrong, but I think O'Bryne's references to Achilles is inspired by Dr. Jonathan Shay's excellent book, ACHILLES IN VIETNAM: COMBAT TRAUMA AND THE UNDOING OF CHARACTER--worth a long slow read for combat leaders and anyone else interested in the subject of PTSD. Shay is a psychiatrist who treated Vietnam veteran PTSD cases. Groundbreaking book--can't recommend it enough.

  • @ericmwalters I didn't see your comment while I was listening to the conversation, but as soon as he mentioned it, that book immediately popped up. 'On Killing' does a good job explaining how people are trained to kill. But again, AiV was an informing book.
