  • i don't think im sending my kids to public (or private) school, its so much nicer to think that my kids will learn from me, not society. i don't trust schools as much now.

  • Adding straw to concrete is an age-old building technique, sometimes called "mortar", sometimes called "adobe" and just plain old cement. I add straw, gravel, crushed rock, anything as filler to extend the cement.

  • Congrats, looks like you guys are doing great.

  • i love the idea of the straw fill i hope it works out for ya think ill do somthing like this to biuld a shop 5 stars

    the cheap guy

  • those kids should be reading by now... send them to school if possible...farming ideas are awesome.

  • @FumblingGardener Thank you for your concern. The young lady who was learning to read in this video 2 1/2 years ago is now reading at a high school level. We find that the best course is to be natural, pay close attention to each child's developmental cues and provide encouragement, materials and time. A child's education will unfold beautifully on it own timetable that way. Glad you like the farming ideas. Leslie

  • Raised eight of my own....now enjoying the grandbabies:)

    Thanks for the videos.

  • @pocketsofthefuture I agree with you 100%. That is the most irritating thing about modern education. Each child learns at a different rate. I really enjoyed your video series, thank you for sharing it.

  • Hens no longer laying eggs are often doomed to the stew pot. I would be announcing it every time I layed an egg too. "Look at me, I'm useful, don't kill me! :) Chickens don't exist in the natural word, they are a man-made animal just like all of our farm animals and food plants.

  • After a hen lays an egg, she shows "broody" behaviour that means she is ready to sit on a nest.

  • our goats make LOTS of "chestnuts" lol

  • Yeah, it's normal.. they do it to call attention to themselves and away from the eggs to give them a better chance of survival. they also often make a low growling sound like when you first walk up to the coop and they all stoop low to hide or camoflage themselves. and that's a warning to all the other chickens. it'll be followed by a "release/all clear" clucking.
