elvis does this song justice, as people have correctly stated, in the film Jailhouse Rock... a different version than Buddy Holly's (my personal fave), but a great version nonetheless :)

Lieber and Stoller wrote the song for Elvis to sing in the movie "Jailhouse Rock" in 1957...Elvis does a great job on the song, and in the movie, singing it exactly the way it was written. Buddy Holly's version is fine, BUT, Buddy leaves out the second verse of the song!! So, his version never sounds right to me. I love the Elvis version with all the words in it.

elvis was the best at anything when given the opportunity. he was a perfectionest. its an absolute shame he never got to do the movie roles he wanted or sing the songs he wanted to sing or shall i say commercially release as in singles. he performed them on stage but never got to keep them cuz everyone wanted the 50's elvis. there is a cd coming out of the ftd label i think you should give a try called nevada nights it has a concert where he performed nothing but his new stuff.

Elvis' rendition of this perfect rocker will always be the best rendition of it by far. This has always been one of my favorite Elvis songs. This song should be way better known than it is. Elvis will always be the greatest. Also, Elvis has done way more for the music industry than anyone else. There will never be another Elvis. I'm so very honored to be an avid Elvis collector.
