  • Why do we need some "Yo dawg I heard you..." commentator? Whatever happened to actual Science? Altar of lowest common denominator I guess...

  • Faraday.

  • bay old disel car. this is nothig for him

  • Hay ....... ass hols I love chasing with police

  • Idea: EMP protected pacemakers!

It's possible, and since pacemakers are so small, plausible.

  • now we can stop all those cutie girls in there cars

  • cops dont need any more help, and what if they missed and ruined someone else's car.

  • Only one little problem with a concentrated beam of EMP energy if a person in the car is fitted with a pacemaker INSTANT death & if wrong car big lawsuit also operator could be charged with manslaughter or reckless endangerment. if the persons in the car told police someone in car had pacemaker or other implant or could be proved that they even suspected. & device was used MURDER. so that is the end of that device before it starts.

  • Disable your car. Disable your phone. Disable your pacemaker. Disable your RFID. Disable your freedom. Disable your sanity.

  • Should be HEMPS

  • id shoot that fucker at an atm

  • The weapon used by the cops in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)!!! They are called EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse)

  • I've been trying to build one for a while, to install in the bed of my truck.

    Y U MAD, TAILGATERS?

  • Auctually, if the car stopper will be the size of the gun what is to stop a criminal from using a muscle car to get away and then aquiring this gun and using it on the cop cars or low flying choppers...

  • RLMFAO!!! Ya... sorry they seem to have forgot about the millions of muscle cars on the road.

  • It isn't staged, the camera and other equipment has been shielded from the EMP using some metal of some sort.

  • Doesn't this work on the POLICE cars too ?!! It will not take a week before we can buy an EMP protection device, as all 12 years old boys will roam around the streets with their small EMP toy guns included in the Donald Duck magazine. This was such a funny strip :))

  • @MaxZagar True enough....EMP can also be shielded against by a Faraday Cage. Not sure of the extent, you would have to go to in order to shield a car, though...but its certainly possible.

  • KITT had one of those back in the eighties.

  • Anyone think this looks just like a hoax based on the gizmo in Arnie's old film 'Eraser'? And if it is real - why hasn't anyone pointed out that it would be rather handy for bringing down aircraft either when they're at altitude or just about to land or take off? Not bad either for wrecking modern trains; disabling modern warships in harbour etc. etc. etc.

Nahhh - it's either a hoax or it's being marketed by a prat who hasn't throught-through the ramifications.

  • Problem number #1. Wont work on non computer controlled car's (most hotrods or odb1 cars dont use computer ignition systems) Problem #2: Cars can easily be shielded from EM discharge and circuitry designs can easily be altered to prevent surges.

  • You can make your own. Essentially you need a microwave to salvage from.

  • It would be fun to use one on those cops who hide on the side of the road using there little speed checking radar guns.

And if they do perfect this technology, some smart ass kid WILL do it... just another double edged sword created by the elite.

  • FARADAY CAGE

  • Hahaha, I'd love to replicate or steal this and use it on a cops car in order to make a getaway. Use their own weapons against them.

  • I would love to get my hand on this(especially the ones that would be the size of a hand gun) and use it on those who disturb others with their loud music in their vehicle and/or loud modified vehicle. Man those people who disturb others with their noise drives me insane!!!!

  • @korkiwi

Actually you could make a similar devide....should be "portable"....

  • Great, so the cops shoot their EMP thing at a car and kill innocent bystanders that have pacemakers. I think that will be a problem for these geniuses.

  • So, if I drive an old car with no micro processor I'm good?

  • @KHChaosrules Yup. Only wipes out the Chips (semiconductor materials). maybe we should go back to the old points and condenser type distributors.

  • Abbee whay you flag this ?

  • My car still has points ignition, carburetor and mechanical voltage regulator. Can't touch this ! Watch out for Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry...

  • LMAO hahaha

  • Ya Ya but whay NOTHING happent to the HD Microprocessors loaded NO Shield, plastic case camera that was taping this clip??

  • Bull! High pulse energy can cause the processor to malfunction and do crazy things. You car may accelerate and kill you! It may cause malfunction with unpredictable results.

The Pulse may destroy other unrelated equipment..

It is an unguided missile no matter they tell you.

  • Exactly What i seed

  • In Cali law enforecemnt is litteraly hand cuffed during a chase. Unless the person is a direct threat to the office they cant do sh!t. By the time they are allowed to its already overly dramatic.

  • I''ve seen what happens to a car hit by an EMP pulse although a little bigger than this one is capable of. You saw the dash lights go out. Well, the car was trashed.

All the silicone chips in there went bye bye. A friend also lost his digital watch in the same incident. Don't play with fire unless you intend to get burned.

  • Half of you people probably sleep with aluminum foil on your heads.

  • The police would have to be very selective about when to pull the trigger. If you've ever watched a car chase, there are many times when the car slows way down. The risks of shutting down the automobile when it's going very slow out weighs the dangers of the automobile continue to run at high speeds through traffic. Think about it. This new device is a great idea as long as it's used with great caution.

  • Nice idea, but if the car being chased has drive-by-wire technology, and the computer fails, the driver would potentially be left with no control over steering, braking, etc. while still driving at a high rate of speed... This is somehow supposed to be better than the chase? Maybe I'm missing something here...

  • How many cars have "drive-by-wire" steering. Not aware of any yet? A few Mercedes models do have Brake by Wire systems. How many of these have you seen in any high speed chases?

  • Well I know for sure that when I'm going to be in a car chaise I'm using a pre 1970s car.

  • Did anyone think of the collateral damage...... This doesn't only work for cars. Think of pacemakers, security systems etc. etc.

  • @Nickje133 and @elementc

    I agree.

What if they became the size of a handgun, and some pranksters got one, then they ended up killing a man with a pace maker, or knocking a low flying 2 seater plane out of the sky.

  • Doesn't anyone consider what it will be like when they're the size of a handgun? Do we really want people to get ahold of mini EMP guns running around disabling cars?

  • This probably would not work on a carburated engine.

  • let the military have it, but don't let the local PD's anywhere near it(the EMP gun)!

  • im going to buy this... oh endless lulz i will have

  • this is a cool machine, though imagine if they abuse the use of it. might be kinda scary.

  • I would be skeptical of the reliability of this approach. EMP shielding is quite possible and a car is mostly metal.

but it might be workable for some situations

  • the camera didnt shut off.. And it sounds like he's doing something with the keys.

  • @Delinz

    Very good point.

  • Sounds like the bad guys in Afghanistan and Iraq start to collect cars with old diesel engines... Nothing vital on those that can be damaged or destroyed by an EMP.

  • Yeah right, camera is right in front of it and nothing is happening, i want to see the car drive and than the machine being used.

  • Why is the camera not infected on this test??

looks like a hoax to me.

  • @alexs87 the pulse is probably very small in dimensions and pointed in a specific direction, at a certain object. If it wasn't this thing would probably shut down the whole interstate

  • @n3gr4rn

Depends on how much power the thing actually outputs.

    But

If it is enough, it probably would.

  • @alexs87 I assume it was staged. Because if not, how can this demonstration is recorded? :)

  • @TaufanDermawan Probably the camera was outside its range and was zooming in?

  • @alexs87 They shielded it.

  • @alexs87 An EMP gun can be very directional if designed to be that way. For instance a home-made microwave gun is very directional, & it works by the same principle, & has similar effects. Plus the science behind this has been known for years, and this device is anything but original. Experiments of shutting down electronics from cars, and even planes has been performed since the 50's. Basically the EMP overloads anything conductive with an induced electric charge causing circuits to short out.

  • @alexs87 Cuz it's American!!!!

  • For what whas this system first made befor the took it over, so that the can use this in the army?

  • Time for good old points ignition and carbs! Try to EMP that, suckers!

  • The car was already stopped.

  • Do you like epic fails? Then check out my channel. If you like fails please subscribe!

  • Someone will probably stole one of that and shut down all the car thats driving in he way

  • yeah, well, what happens when you stop a car traveling over 100 mph

cold? does it keep going but now have no control? does it gradually

slow to a stop? and what happens when cops start using those to pull

ppl over? or when criminals get them and force ppl out of their cars. this is a BAD IDEA.

  • Stealing a car will be so much more easier for criminals now.

  • Yep and kill people wearing pacemakers also

  • if a person with a pacemaker steals a car and drives endangering other road users then he deserves all he gets

  • hahahahahaha

  • Yes i agree, but I was referring to the surrounding area, as in an innocent bystander. but i agree, I just dont like thiefs.

  • All the police need to do now is get a 15 kill streak and they are set.

Seriously though the guy who brought up what would happen with a car doing 100+ MPH I have to agree with. I can only imagine the kind of chaos a multi ton behemoth would do if it just stopped going 100 like that.

  • HCSE: Can you imagine the kind of carnage and kaos ALREADY occurring because the cops can't or won't stop a chase? I've seen those idiots in California decide after TWO HOURS "that this chase has to end soon". Still, I share the concerns about misdirection and abuse you and others have stated.

  • You're going to do a lot more damage with a beast out of control than one you can at least contain. Granted its a dangerous situation either way but between the cost it would take to make this kind of tech readily available and the cost the state would inccur with the lawsuits that would follow from the citizens harmed after an officer stopped that car and it went careening off into them, the damage to the roads, and even the criminals that stand to be harmed or even killed in the process...

  • ...it really isn't all that cost effective as the good old PIT maneuver, sometimes a nice show of force and tactical locking of a chase is all it takes, not complex crap like this.

Phew that was long winded, sorry about that.

  • AHAHA SO TRUE KZORD PWNS !

  • aim with this at a plane and eureka!

  • I think this is an amazing advancement of technology and does have a tremendous amount of potential.

However... Disabling a vehicle is a great idea but this means nothing if the brake system is also disabled and the power steering is disabled.

Being unable to steer and brake simply means you successfully turned a speeding suspect into a 100mph kamikaze missile.

    Unless I am missing something.

There will of course be kinks to be worked out before this is able to be abused on a regular basis.

  • You don't know much about cars, do you? What the fuck do you think people did before power-steering? Walk? No, non-assisted steering.... And ESPECIALLY when your traveling fast, you might not even notice the difference... You will however when for example trying to park...

Same with the brake system. You might need to press harder, but it still works fine...

  • Mcbrite,

Hey thanks for the obnoxious post, nothing quite says 'asshole' like acting like one in the comfort of your own internet.

take your caps, cursing and over use of periods elsewhere, you proved your point, sadly not about this video but that you are arrogant and obnoxious and probably feel the need to reply to this post just to confiirm your personality traits.

  • LeviathAileron

    write this to me

"Obama got 666 drawn at election time ?"

  • What are you talking about and why are you replying to me with that?

  • Whatever... Like I give a fuck if you think I'm an asshole... Actually I prefer it, because if you liked me that would mean we are similar or compatible in some way...

You can't deal with ONE word in caps? What the fuck is wrong with you?

I was actually trying to educate you little ignorant american shit, but whatever...

Just don't waste my time anymore you touchy "wanna be a man, yet are half woman"...

    kisses

  • I knew you couldn't keep away, how does it feel to be this pathetic?

Cry a little more, just be careful of your running make up.

I love people like you actually; acting like your shit doesn't stink online. All of this because you decided to grow a pair and jump on a comment which was not negative in any way.

Go ahead kid, prove something to me; your dying to otherwise you wouldn't have replied. Also good job on lowering yourself to nationality discrimination, way to raise the bar.

  • Looks like YOU are the one that's getting fired up over it... ;-D

  • That's the spirit, just keep on replying. Sort of flattering in a way actually.

Funny how I've been the one that refrained from using needless profanity and aggressive tones and yet your attempting to turn it around.

    Shame you can't resist.

  • Then again, never could your mom.... She's quite a dirty whore, that one.... Whatever makes your family happy I guess... ;)

  • And in the end, all you can do is come back with a really old and lame 'your mom' reference. You don't even deserve to argue with someone kid that was just pathetic.

I kind of wish you posed an intelligent and competitive argument but alas that is too much to ask for on the internet.

  • dumbest shit ever

imagine you cahse a guy with 100+mph , you shoot him with the EMP , his fucking motor dies , with it the powersteering , the power brakes , the ABS and the ESP ...

This shit will kill people and bring the innocent drivers in fucking big danger !

  • This is not good :D if a civil gets hands on this(they will 100%) Police helicopters, cars are going to shut down :D Then they will chase by foot :D There is only 1 thing good about this think and 10 things not :D

  • fucking kidding? EMP disables all mechanical devices in it's radius.. -_- unless he found a way to shoot a fucking beam of it. I'd laugh if they used it and even the cop cars get fucked up after firing up the EMP.. next thing you see is a 50 car pile up crash LOL dumb mother fuckers.. "minimize" damages.. full of shit

  • electronic. Mechanic devices are totally unimpressed by it.

  • "unimpressed" funny stuff

  • congratulations , you just helped make everyone subjegated. You will now comply , Or else. You couldnt make a dollar selling to the public so you choose to become a law officer . wait till planes start falling out of the sky. You un american boot licking fuck. No p[rivacy either , Bet you would be appaled if you were the one under surveilance , having a government watching every move you make... You short sighted fuck. fuck you , fuck your machine, ass kissing ,on your knees bootlicker.

  • How to beat this copper mesh and MOVs on critical components or just drive an old car.

Better yet get a reflector dish and send the EMP back to the source.

As for the comment on old style distributors it may stall it but you could just restart.

BTW older diesels would be completely immune to it.

  • My concern is, if someone is evading the police at high speeds and this is activated, wouldn't the poor steering, assisted braking, ABS, power locks and power windows all be disabled along with it?

Also, what if the driver all-of-the-sudden swerves randomly and the squad deactivates the vehicle of an innocent driver. Not likely, no, but not impossible. Insurance, I guess?

  • Poor steering = Power steering.

  • CCD BAKEOUT.

  • Even at the size of a handgun, I highly doubt that it will be affordable for the average person. The market for something like this is goverment agencies.

  • If it will be the size of a handgun, than i guarantee that not just the police and the military will have them... Soon every stupid kid could have one, and shoot cars randomly on the streets. I don't have to point out how dangerous it could be. And what if the car is shot in high speed and not standing in a garage? The driver will be able to operate the electric brake systems or uncontrolled hit the next barrier in his/her way? (wo electricity controlled airbags of course )

  • does the car still work again after? And there needs to be a record, otherwise youl have cops just doing this on the freeway as april fools

  • @bestSVMS

It sounds like only the car's ECU is damaged during the process. So the car should be fine once that is replaced. ECUs normally cost in the hundreds.

  • If it can stop a Toyota it can stop ANYTHING!!!

    Someone had to say it.

  • Well the real bad guys will get this gun to and then they stop the police....

  • If you use car with no microprocessors in it??? Terrorist tends to drive old models...

Does this system mess with the simple ignition distributor also?

  • giving this to cops is soooo wrong , they will abuse this constantly , welcome to hell where the blue wall of silence is alive and powerful

  • Yup... just like tasers. Way outta control.

  • how soon before anti EMP measures are sold on the black market? From what he's saying, it sends a surge into the microprocessor via all car wires. I think this can be circumvented with a simple fuse and capacitor. You measure the current going to the microprocessor under a full load and build get a fuse that when tripped redirects current to the capacitor. Cap then redirects current to the MP (maybe a resistor will be needed too).

  • This device is much simpler then you think it'll be abused long before it gets down to gun size.

  • Thanks, my friends! Your channel very interesting and original! Everything, that you Make it is very necessary for people!!! To be your friend, that's an honour for me!!! I have subscribed for your channel.

    sorry for my imperfect English:))

  • Skynet will have great benefit from this.

  • If this gets into the wrong hands, then they'll be able to shut down any electronics, such as comps at a bank or something like that... =.=

  • well it is indeed a good trick to stop Sucide Bomb car in afganistan or Irak but I think overthere maybe 1 out of 20 cars has a micro processor to shut down...anyway good good we're getting closer to Police Total control -_-''

    BULLSHIT

  • 2010 For sure !

  • What if reachs creminal's hand to used against police cars?

  • What if the car has no microprocessor? They do exist...

  • 2010 is here

  • E.M.Pulse Cannon Ready!

  • Sweet.

Know all i need is my GUNDAM....then...complete world control!!!! (terrorist laugh)

  • It looks like another terrorist weapon, think what could happen if you could stop planes in midair with that device !!!

  • Road Rage....at 65mph

  • Now think about this. shut down the car, what about power steering and power brakes. hmm no way to steer or stop right away. that's a good possibility of becoming a worse situation than having some crazy trying to get away. and aren't we supposed to be in control of the vehicle at all times? catch 22 anyone?

  • If you're running from the cops and you lose your PS and PB, TOO BAD! Besides, unless your PB are hydraulicly boosted (most are vacuum boosted), you'd still have vacuum in the booster and could stop.

  • My theory: can a microwave stop a plane if the plane have a microwave? So maybe in the future no microwave in planes?

  • What if the interfirance are within ?

  • Theory: using a air baloon and try a toy plane to fly towards it and if it works then its not good result for future uses?

  • google(dot)com/search?q=faraday+cage

That or a car that isn't dependent on a computer system.

Also, most new cars use electronics to brake.

  • "Most new cars use electronics to brake." No they don't! The only electronics in the brakes on MOST every vehicle is ABS, which isn't needed 99.9% of the times that you stop. ABS has a "fail-safe" mode that always leaves you with regular brakes to control and stop the car.

  • Can you see all the potential for abuse of this sort of thing? Awe-inspiring. ='[.]'=

  • I assume in the near future we will use even more tech with microprocessors. Forget about usual phones, ipods and other handhelds, what about the tech we will have inside our bodies - pacemakers, vision or hearing enhancements, mechanical limbs and more. We already have pacemakers, give it another 20 years and we'll have the rest.

So unless it could be targeted on a very narrow spot, we will see car chases with cops frying everything around, potentially causing more damage than preventing.

  • OK so its an emp. but what about stoping peoples pacemakers, can it be aimed, that is to say does it have a small angle of effectivness.

  • @AuthorityComplex Also, how long is the range? EMP waves aren't like bullets that stop or slow down on impact. Scenario: the cops hit the perp's car, then the wave goes through and hits two more cars beyond, frying their electronics, Mom's laptop, a handheld game console, two GPSs, three cellphones and Grandma's pacemaker (like you said). Result: tens of thousands of dollars of property damage and one fatality. It'd probably be less catastrophic if the cops pulled out their guns and went nuts.

  • Corny? I fuckin love those chases!

  • Handgun sized within 5 years? Not happening.

  • I hope this dont goes to the hand of terrorist because its nice to shot down all plane up in the sky? Hope you are ready for it?

  • It's not like they couldn't already build one if they wanted to. Most modern planes are protected from interference anyway.

  • Oops! Missed! Three cars speed of the road and loads of people die. Great!

  • TERRIBLE idea to install this on police cars.

  • We should just give cops buttons that blow up entire cities. So when a criminal enters a city, they just blow that city up. No more crime!

  • I thought of this idea in high school(about 10 years ago), just haven't had the time to develop it but in my version it would be mounted to my trunk and used to shut down cars/cops riding my ass

  • ha. nice

  • Save lives in Iraq until the terrorists get that shit and and start shooting at aircraft !

  • Do you really trust an average police officer with a hand held version of this tech. I'm afraid they would unintentionally disable other vehicles or municipal equipment or cause accidents by firing it in the wrong direction. They could easily target someone else when driving recklessly after a suspect.

The average police officer is not good at real life point and shoot scenarios because they don't train enough in their spare time. Only the swat teams go through rigorous training.

  • So how are you going to use this against criminals who equip their cars with RF shielding?

You better stick with old-fashioned bullets.

There is always a way around high tech.

  • Bullets don't work against criminals who drive armored cars.

Most criminals won't be resourceful enough to customize their car with RF shielding, just as most criminals today don't equip their cars with anti-bullet shielding.

  • So how many crims drive cars with micro processors? normally they are in peices of junk that dont have then. If you can't run and hide then you better just shoot then!

  • Even the crappiest cars sold over the last 30 years have microprocessors in them... because putting a microprocessor in a car is cheaper than leaving it out and trying to get the same functionality without it. Cars older than that probably can't go very fast anyway.

  • mmmmm....you could shut down an entire highway with this

  • Only works on cars with microprocessers

  • Bombs: Jammers such as the Warlock are already used in Iraq and Afghanistan. The short story there is that they blackout all or some channels leaving a few channels free for friendly communications. These free channels aren't just stationary though, they frequency hop to match the troops radios. They have to by synced with the Warlock at the git go.

The result is that cell phone signals, radio signals and whatnot can't get through to detonate IEDs. They're only rolled out for bigwigs though.

  • Yeah that is a neat trick at 0:37. At full zoom the size of near objects is similar to the size of far objects. At fully zoomed out, like wide angle, foreground objects appear much larger. Just think of the big nose or big faces you see on people shot up close with a wide angle. By Starting out at wide angle up close, pulling back the camera and simultaneously zooming in it changes the relationship between fore and background making the object appear to be stretching, while not moving.

  • How do they make that weird camera effect at 0:37?

  • @Kev888 They increase the FOV somehow I think.

  • You have to adjust the zoom and the distance of the camera at the same time, so the object in the front looks stationary. If you zoom out everything will become smaller. So you have to move in at the same time, to the keep the image at the same size. (you can see this is done in the video: at the end of the zoom the camera is still moving in - also see the shadow appearing on the left)

It can't be easily done by hand only or with a simple camera, though. You can still try it with your digicam.

  • People with pacemaker will love this.

  • I was thinking the same, using these devices would detonate bombs as it induces current through the wiring.

Also, how can this be legal? It would also disable the car's emergency air bags and protection systems, which could kill the driver. I'd like to see how they will get around that one...

  • So you point it at a terrorist's car, and it induces currents in all the wiring ... including the circuits in the bomb's detonator. That could have interesting consequences. (Our guys driving Humvees in Iraq and Afghanistan could use one of these mounted on the hood!)

  • this report is full of sensationalism

  • Nice helical antenna for 400-1000 MHz . How much power are you running? I want to see this stop a car 50-100 feet away. I think the guy that claims that it will hand powered is smoking something really strong.

  • EMP > Helicopters

    :O

  • Armenian Pride!

  • hah. filmed on the highline nice.

they can use it to slowly kill the terrorist with cancer clusters...

  • Is it just me or is it strange that you hear the car alarm chirp when the EMP shuts everything down. Seems to me like a micro-processor would also control the alarm system.

  • it could be either original car alarm or simply the alarm that notifies you when the battery is down, oh well they actually all do that

  • It could be that the device induced electricity directly into the siren, making it chirp.

  • Interesting thought!

  • Truckers have been doing this for years with out-of-spec CB radios. They call it 'Jamming'.

  • i can see the apocalypse coming with this machine.

  • right, so I guess there's a new market for EMP shielding then?

  • Naturally, every measure produces a countermeasure, producing countercountermeasures ad nauseam. In this case, though, shielding would be pretty tricky to start with. And definitely very expensive.
