The clip on 4.54-58 is excellent, siting in the back of the Tyrrell Lorry with the car in the background, tool boxes everywhere and smoking a cigi, it was a true purest racers and mechanics game back then.
Every time I watch this, I see how fine the thread is between speed and death or at least a terrible crash. This is riveting stuff, but I'll never try it!
I did'nt see him race except on archive footage as I was born the year he died, but I can feel his warmth and personalty plus he had fantastique looks. I just can't stop watching him.
Okay, yeah I understand. Senna and Tom Pryce are my two favorites, and I guess I kinda feel the same. With Tom Pryce it's a lot like Cevert because he had a very bright future that was ended horribly. Sorry if I came off as an asshole.
NONE of the fatal crashes in F1 should have happened. No "one" driver's life is more important than another. They all died tragically, and deserve the same amount of respect.
I agree with you 100%. And it would have been well deserved spot for him. For all the patience, gallantry and wit. Too bad it all had gone in the air at that terrible split second at Watkins Glen.
His eyes are what captured many a Heart. All he had to do was look at you. And you were hooked. He was beautiful , Charismatic, Friendly and Well Spoken. And most of all he loved the fans who loved him. RIP Francois....A talent gone way too soon. Leaving many hearts broken and hurting. And still Hurting a little now.
It is not hurting "just a little now". I am still hurting even after these many years and watching the tributes brings back the memories and grief over the loss.
@CevertTyrell :He was sometimes faster than Jackie. I was on the 73 Nürburgring and it was only loyality from Francoise. He was faster than Jackie. Believe me i saw it lap to lap...
Francois was a great driver,a future F1 champion. But the best thing on him was his character. He was a genuine guy..And this more important because we don't see drivers like him today..
Amen. 99% of the drivers nowadays won't even give you an autograph. I think its the money. A lot of these 18-25 year old kids get HUGE contracts (especially in F1) so naturally they get rather large egos.
I still remember his accident. He was one of my favorite drivers at that time and I felt very said when he died. The video was very well produced and is an enormous tribute to Francois. Thank you for posting it.
It was impossible for me to meet Francois because i was born 15 years after his death. But if i was there that time i would have cheered for Francois Cevert.
