love driving down 4th street...even better seeing it here. would have possibly liked to see you go down burke, its probably the liveliest street here at night
@iantjizzle I agree and would've gone down Burke, but there wasn't enough activity or people at the time to justify putting it in this video. I'll possibly be making another Winston-Salem video this summer, so I'll try to include it then. :-)
Awesome video, check out these videos I'm doing on all kinds of things to see and do in Georgia. This is a ongoing project I'm working on to find neat liitle hidden spots in Georgia that not many people know about, then documenting them.
Dang I didn't realize Winston-Salem was live like that! I noticed the little details and the people walking in the streets. There was one particular part where it looked really live!! I might have to make a trip down there and see whats good!
nice video. W-S looks good. Hope to see one of downtown GSO, on a Friday night, maybe coming in off Freeman Mill...anyway love you're vids man, keep it up!
Sorry..not what I had hoped after telling my friends how great downtown W-S is becoming. This video SPED fast, scarcely showing the sidestreets where the action &culture are taking place...& who really cares about Bus-40 at all? And what about the nearby ballpark/horse-buggy rides? I will wait until a better video is made before sharing....Next time slow down the filming, your car, the music, and take in the sounds & feeling of the city....It shouldn't be a race.
Sorry..this video wasn't what I had hoped...I have been telling friends and family about how great downtown W-S is becoming, but this video SPED through the streets, and scarcely even showed the sidestreets where the action and culture are taking place...& who really cares about Bus-40 at all? I will wait until a better video is made before sharing....Next time slow down the filming, your car, the music, and take in the sounds and feeling of the city....It shouldn't be a race.
@Snowysc1 I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this video. The Business 40 part was thrown in to show viewers the new ballpark and its presence from the highway as well as the skyline, which is quite impressive. My speed was fine in this video. I just sped the footage up, because who wants to watch a 20-min+ video? It wasn't a race as the goal was to showcase Winston as a city that is progressing to an energetic, lively one instead of sleepy and slow. I appreciate you watching though, despite your comment
@CosmoPhotography The view of the skyline was grand...and the idea is great...I'm just suggesting that rather than a "real time" drive through film of the city where you are forced to speed it up, why not highlight just the focal points in real time, taking in the best sights and sounds..And the nearby new ballpark and horse and buggy rides would be alluring to folks as well. They are a part of the downtown too...It's hard to tell what to see at this speed, and I live here.
@Snowysc1 Thank you for the clarification and, believe it or not, I hope to do something like that soon. I've planned on going downtown on a Gallery Hop night and/or after a ballgame lets out and set up my equipment and film various street scenes as well as the skyline from Broad St. I live here as well (Ardmore, to be exact), so stay tuned! :-)
@CosmoPhotography....an additional thought..Imagine yourself not being familiar with Winston or the film you just did, and rewatch the video as someone not familiar with the area. Just what, and how much can you take in that would make you want to visit here?

@FreewayBrent I really appreciate it, man, and your comments mean a lot. North Carolina still has a ways to go but it has made significant strides in recent years. Not bad for a state that is projected to become the 8th largest in 2030. I wish you had had more time to spend here when you were passing though as it truly is a beautiful state in terms of nature and scenery (which I hope to document in future videos).
I'm really glad you alerted me to that downtown microbrewery. I really got a sense of a city on the rise, while cruising along 4th Street.
As for the video itself, the speed was perfect, the selection of footage was great, the song was instantly catchy (I just downloaded it), and heck, I had no idea that DT Winston-Salem had another lively strip, in Trade Street. Hopefully videos like this will help to put a quell on the perception that, somehow, North Carolina is still stuck in the 1800's.
@Freewayjim That means a lot coming from you, Jim! :-) Empire of the Sun is one of my latest favorite bands. I had considered using McCartney's "Dance Tonight" for the video but it was too short, unfortunately. I have yet to see what my videos look like on a TV. I haven't exactly been too thrilled viewing them in YouTube's full screen option. Though I guess they are notorious for ruining quality? :-)
@Bryant5493 Thank you, Bryant! I'm really looking forward to going out there and filming. I'm planning to not focus *too* much on roads, but rather the LA metro area's urban feel and activity such as people, skyscrapers, traffic, etc.
The titles and intro went on for too long, in my opinion, but it was worth the wait for an interesting tour. Nice to see lots of people out on the streets, enjoying the evening.
@davidreynolds87 Thank you for your input! I understand that the intro and other slides can take a while while you're waiting to get to the main part of the video, but I have a lot of information to convey to make the viewer who isn't familiar with my videos know what to expect when watching (i.e. location, title, description, etc.). I, also, find this to be the best place to display announcements as a viewer would rather see something then read it. Thank you for watching! :-)

I have to say, Winston-Salem looks really sexy all like this, even if the nightlife is nonexistent.
