"I dream of a world where all girls are safe" but why not a world where *everyone* is safe? Feminism isn't abougender equality at all it's just biased bullshit in favour of women.
Feminism means that "I get to get away with anything that want to at the risk of ruining our society". DO you see how selfish moms are in divorce? Moms use their own children to "get back" at the Men in their lives. How disgusting and shows how unfit these "women" truly are.
to gerberakasbah. Really and this video does it seems to me that it's trying to distract us from the fact they are killing living organisms aka making the women look like they where oppressed slaves. Also care to refute my lack of point instead of vaguley illuding to it.
in my own dream I eat lotsa spaghettii and i will be in my confy chair while all you feminists will be in the kitchen with collars around your neck programmed to strut your stuff and cook and there will be the natrual women who were against feminism walking around being suggessfull in their own way like being the best dancer or being the best animal housing managers and vets. I have no sympathy for any feminist so if you stand up with your fists in the air watch out for my crosshairs
My dream for women is that live true to themselves and not listen to the vile feminist vitriol that the feminazis feed them. Be women, don't try to be men.
Also, I am perfectly happy being a size 10 with a large bust. My husband prefers my figure over a skinny waif any day. We are supposed to look like women not like little boys, like gay fashion designers like to dress models.
Why a "dream"? Start now, sisters. As an old lady who made her start as a helluva good weldor in Aerospace, make some bucks and do what you want! Don't outlive your money.
You're both hung up on petty sexual differences rather than focusing on the big picture, who gives a shit what sex the inventor of *important thing here* was? The brain is more important than the genitals folks. (Where did you learn about women being involved in war in Viking society btw? I knew they were involved in Sarmatian armies but never read anything about women in Viking warfare)
In another more interesting point - what does the Antigone Foundation feel about affirmative action, such as the (British) plans to give companies power to employ women or ethnic minorities above another equally qualified candidate? Is it right, or does it devalue the achievements of those it selects by basing their status upon race or gender other than their own ability?
Obviously, there are some issues that are specific to women, but sometimes I wonder if some of these problems truly exist as facets of an anti-female society or are some women blaiming society for their own failings. Case in point: If I don't get a job, I will accept it and move on, but some will claim it is proof women are looking over for employment by men - are they really? or are the women in question just not the best candidates for the job?
Thank you for clearing that up, but I still feel feminism (and "masculism" for that matter) is un-necessary in comparison with humanism. The reason for my "misconception" as you put it, is that I look at these dreams for women and I just think - why can't they be dreams for humanity? Of course, there are some problems that affect women more than men but in the cases addressing the problem of women "being judged on looks" in society is a real problem or insecurities that are unavoidable.
To put it simply, feminists aim to acknowledge and enable the multiple perspectives of those who go unheard and unseen. If feminism only worked to make women superior over men, anyone can see how that just creates another hierarchy of power and inequality, which is what we DO NOT want.
@AntigoneFoundation Why aren't feminists living in Iran so that they can live equally amongst the poorest and fight against the real inequalities that exist? Instead we see white middle-class women fighting against free markets for their own selfish ends over nickles and dimes. The truth is feminism disguises itself as being in the interest of human rights when the end goal is chiefly power for themselves through fallacy of equality.
thezombie and petelikes you - thank you for your comments. You are both right - equality does not mean superiority for women. It's actually a common misconception that feminism believes men hate women and only women are deserving of a better future. On the contrary, feminism values and respects differences between men, women, and others by trying to break down those majoritarian binaries (think heterosexual/homosexual, male/female, and so on) that privilege the norm and oppress others.
A lot of the comments in this video I agree with but not just for women - for men too, and I can't understand why feminists cling to this petty idea that all men hate them and that only women are deserving of a better future. Real equality does not mean superiority for women.
My dream for women is that feminism is finally globally realised as an entirely ridiculous mentality, and that it is abolished and never spoken of again.
Oh, and before any well thought-out, constructive replies are posted (note the heinous amounts of sarcasm here), this is coming from someone who agrees with equality.

Yeah, because in the past all that has lead to is scientific discovery, philosophical breakthroughs, political achievements and peace... who needs any of that nonsense?
Discovery wise there is Marie Curie (discovered radioactivity and won 2 nobel prizes), Linda Bluck (who discovered how the olfactory system works and won a nobel prize), Gerty Radnitz Cori (won the Nobel Prize for discovering the enzymes that convert glycogen into sugar and back again to glycogen which keep diabetes in check),
Dorothy Hodgkin (won nobel prize for discovery of penicillin and vitamin B12), Gertrude Elion (nobel prize for advances in leukemia research), Barbara McClintock (nobel prize for finding cure of African sleeping disease), Rosalyn Yalow (won the Nobel Prize for developing radioimmunoassay, a test of body tissues that uses radioactive isotopes to measure the concentrations of hormones, viruses, vitamins, enzymes, and drugs.),
Maria Goeppert Mayer (nobel prizor isotope separation for atomic bomb), Rita Levi-Montalicini (nobel prize for of nerve growth factor, a previously unknown protein that stimulates the growth of nerve cells and plays a role in degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease), Stephanie Kwolek (invented Kevlar), Hedy Lamarr (Invented Spread Spectrum Technology), Patsy Sherman (inventor of scotchgard),
Rachel Zimmerman (inventor of the printer), Mary Anderson (invented windshield wipers), Barbara Askins (invented the way we develop film), Patricia Billings (created Geobond), Bette Graham (invented liquid paper) and many, many, many others.
For politics look no further than former Prime Minister of England Margaret Thatcher, Former Pakistani Prime Minister Bhutto of Pakistan, Bertha von Suttner, Alya Myrdal, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Rigoberta Manchu, Shirin Ebadi, Wangari Maathai or any of the thousands of women who have helped their countries.
so as I said, who needs good economic policy, social progression in countries where there was once none, medicine for many common and dangerous illnesses (from the flu to diabetes to cancer), the kevlar that protects police officers and military personnel, modern technology or film? We'd be fine without all that stuff right? Sure... we'd be sick, dying, underdeveloped, and sent back a few centuries, but other than that we'd be just fine.
I'm not overstating anything. Without women, all their inventions and advancements would be gone, that would certainly affect us. Use some common sense. I don't need to prove a point, its self-evident. No offense, but its not really surprising that someone with your viewpoint is not well educated. Go learn some history and sociology. Then when you have something intelligent and ad hominem free to say, I'll be happy to discuss this with you, till then... your circular reasoning is too boring.
The juggernaut of male savvy would have easily discovered everything they did, in the case of curie, she helped her husband and receieved equal kudos from stockholm. I'm perfectly versed in history, I'm more interested in your love of (giggle) sociology, a curriculum by 60s radicals and not a science. Lemme guess, Women's Studies major? Perhaps some other fake humanity you're inexplicably proud of?
No my Masters is in Neurology, but yes when I was in undergraduate school I took sociology (I never took feminism). You tout male savvy, yet you have none. A scientific mind never assumes or makes statements of fact which are beyond the grasps of empirical evidence. You're grasping at straws.
As for Marie Curie, her husband did help her yes (I never claimed men cant be intelligent in various fields) and (if you want to include family) her daughter actually won a nobel prize later for her continuance of the research (her breakthroughs were even more significant today)
She helped her husband, not the other way around. You made a bandied assertion that you claimed was fact, that the contributions of these women would have been lost forever without them. How's that for lack of emperical evidence.
I never said they would be "forever lost" but without any of the inventions or prominent people who have influenced history (male and female) we would be a very different culture, its common sense.
Human beings generally reach the same conclusions over and over again eventually, so eventually we probably would have all those inventions because men have proved capable of scientific discovery, but the same would be true of men's discovery, as women have proved themselves capable of the same.
Not to mention, history would be very different. Just because our culture was sexist in the past, does not mean all were. Celtic culture for example was matriarchal and lead by women, viking culture saw women as equals and the went into battle... all the matriarchal cultures in history, had they been patriarchal, would have changed the present, and vice versa.
Anywho, I am getting kind of sick of coming back to this video when Ive already refuted your "point" and now we are just talking semantics... arguing with sexists does not really interest me, which is why I hardly ever do it, its boring and their lack of common sense irritating... if I have to argue, I prefer to argue about things I care more about like with gun control morons, intelligent religious people (when I can find any online), Democrats/Republicans etc. So I'll leave you to it.
@gerberakasbah wow an over zelous feminist who think her opinion matters when she threw it out the window as soon as she becaome a feminist. You wanna know what I think? I think your are just a smug automized zombie who has nothing more to do then pretend she won arguments on youtube. Yes I know this is one year ago suck it.
Either I'm a smug automized zombie (something which seems by its very description to lack any emotion, and just be relaying facts) or I'm overly emotional... can't really be both now can I?
Tell you what hun, pick an insult and I'll decide if its worth responding to.
@gerberakasbah Playing the lady in red additude with me will not make you the better person "darling" this is not a detective film. However you can prove me your innocence by naming one place for battered husbands who are victums of abusive wives.
Not really sure which part of anything I said has anything to do with a detective film or being a lady in red, but you are amusing me with your zany references. I don't wish to prove I am innocent because I never once claimed to be innocent. However, there are plenty of battered mens shelters.
There is probably one in your state which you can find refuge in.
@gerberakasbah Ah hah i got another question. there has been reports of a bouncer who was abused by his wife who tried to seek refuge in a battered wives shelter. They denied him of the treatment and when he made it public they made a claim that they support all genders now why would a feminist dominated agency who claimes they are for equality deny him of that treatment? also as a follow up question why do most of you claim to love men and turn around blaming a male dominated patriarcy?

Not going to list all of them... but I'm sure you can find one where you live that will help you out of your situation. Then you can get the help you need and realize that just because your wife/girlfriend beats you, does not mean that all women are evil. Lashing out at women online is no way to get your strength back. Good luck.

Funny i didn't say anything about women being evil only feminists. I thought this movment was supposed to be about equality. Thanks for giving me the winning ace in the deck "darling".
That comment didn't make any sense. I never said you said women are evil, but by attacking feminism (a movement which means women have the right to be treated equally) you are attacking women like they are. I also never said anything indicating I believe in anything less than equality.
And those numbers are all only for men. If the man in question went to a woman's shelter, thats why he didn't get in. There are women there who have just fled men who terrorized them, that's why there are battered men's shelters (like those I listed) and battered women's shelters.
@gerberakasbah Also on a personal level when it comes to feminists like you it's no wonder men are avoiding marrage because it's a no win scenario when it comes to a devorce. The women wins the house and children as well as alamony and the man is left holding his lottery ticket.
Again, that comment has nothing to do with anything that I said. You obviously don't know much about feminists like me, because there is no way to group all feminists together. I don't think that women should get the house and kids unless its warrented. The kids should go to the most responsible parent and the house should go to whoever bought it. I don't believe in spousal support to either women or men.
That being said, since I make more than my husband, in the unlikely event we did ever get a divorce, I would not bother arguing over it, the state mandates that I would pay it so I would.
Also quit calling me darling, it makes you sound like you're trying to pick someone up in a bar, it's creepy to hit on girls online and I'm a married woman.
@gerberakasbah Well if you didn't call me hun I would not have to resort to call you darling it's fair game learn to deal with outcomes due to your actions or don't bother commenting.
lol you can't take youtube comments this seriously. The language you are using is so over the top, 'fair game' 'deal with the outcomes' we aren't battling to the death here.
Oh, and my 'hun' was a) a response to you calling me hun which I found amusing and b) not the same, hun is a term you say (like buddy or dude) its not a come-on like darling
Either I'm a smug automized zombie (something which seems by its very description to lack any emotion, and just be relaying facts) or I'm overly emotional... can't really be both now can I?
Tell you what hun, pick an insult and I'll decide if its worth responding to.
Tell you what hun, pick an insult and I'll decide if its worth responding to.
Not at all. As Camille Paglia so aptly stated, if the world were left up to women we'd all be living in grass huts. There's no juggernaut of female savvy, rather female savvy is a rare, random and dyspeptic imitation of the male. It fires occasionally and strikes the target even less. The so-called matriarchal socities you mentioned really weren't, especially the Viking, women rarely went in battle, when they did, it was often to represent their father who had no sons. No matriarchy.
Yeah... like I said, you're grasping at straws. You arent using anything other than opinion, because you have no empirical evidence to offer (and yes, do some research, its well known that Celtic culture was matriarchal, I never said Viking culture was I said they were equals)
The only facts you've put up was a boring list of female nobel prize laureates, doesn't say anything about the general abilities of the female, manute bull can dunk a basketball on top of the goal post (that's almost 20 feet) but there only ten equivalent manute bulls in the world, it says nothing about the 3 billion other men, so it is an anomaly and disqualifies no satement to the contrary. That is my point and your emotional, silly responses prove me right.
maria mayer didn't work on the manhattan project, that's a fact.
You listed the ten women who've won nobel prizes in science over the last hundred and fifty years, okay, I was not unaware, but women aren't the driving force or even the bulk of any discipline, these are exceptions that prove the rule.
I listed some of the many, many women who have been inventors and scientists, if you want more than go look it up Im not your encyclopedia lol, your response is they are all just exceptions that prove the rule? That's ridiculous, if you make an argument, and its shown to be false, be a man and own up to it. That type of fanaticism about gender beliefs is usually something reserved for the radical feminists who so hate. Don't betray your standards in order to prove a point.
Her computations (solving the problem of so called "magic numbers" which scientists at the time could not figure out) were used by Teller when he first conceived of the hydrogen bomb.
We are so happy with the response the Dreams for Women project is getting. We are definitely planning for a book with the postcards... but actually our first project will be to make a 2009 calendar with all the most loved secrets. It will be out this summer. In the meantime, take care and thanks again for your support!
Keep sending in those postcards. Speak out. Take a stand. Support the women in your life. We recently got a whole bunch of postcards from an eating disorder clinic in the US, which goes to show that Dreams for Women can be inspiring, therapeutic, and motivational. Postcards are posted on our blog every week.

Good point! We definitely intend to feature female singers in our future videos! This was just a song that expressed well what we wanted to say... about the world needing an anthem... but we have some great female singers in mind for future videos! I hope you'll check back!
This is an amazing project! Beautiful and heartbreaking. I find myself with tears in my eyes even now as it begins a second time. This really is deeply moving, and such a fantastic idea, desperately needed right now! I can see mentioning this everywhere I can! Even on my podcast! Really amazing!

As it is today feminists are just trying to reverse the roles of centuries past.

I never said they would be "forever lost" but without any of the inventions or prominent people who have influenced history (male and female) we would be a very different culture, its common sense.
Human beings generally reach the same conclusions over and over again eventually, so eventually we probably would have all those inventions because men have proved capable of scientific discovery, but the same would be true of men's discovery, as women have proved themselves capable of the same.
gerberakasbah 2 years ago
Not to mention, history would be very different. Just because our culture was sexist in the past, does not mean all were. Celtic culture for example was matriarchal and lead by women, viking culture saw women as equals and the went into battle... all the matriarchal cultures in history, had they been patriarchal, would have changed the present, and vice versa.
gerberakasbah 2 years ago

Lol suck what? You made no attempt, good or bad, to argue any point. I take it from that you have no point to argue.

@gerberakasbah Playing the lady in red additude with me will not make you the better person "darling" this is not a detective film. However you can prove me your innocence by naming one place for battered husbands who are victums of abusive wives.
CpsLock3 1 year ago
@CpsLock3
Not really sure which part of anything I said has anything to do with a detective film or being a lady in red, but you are amusing me with your zany references. I don't wish to prove I am innocent because I never once claimed to be innocent. However, there are plenty of battered mens shelters.
There is probably one in your state which you can find refuge in.
gerberakasbah 1 year ago

CpsLock3 1 year ago
@CpsLock3
That comment didn't make any sense. I never said you said women are evil, but by attacking feminism (a movement which means women have the right to be treated equally) you are attacking women like they are. I also never said anything indicating I believe in anything less than equality.
gerberakasbah 1 year ago
@CpsLock3
And those numbers are all only for men. If the man in question went to a woman's shelter, thats why he didn't get in. There are women there who have just fled men who terrorized them, that's why there are battered men's shelters (like those I listed) and battered women's shelters.
gerberakasbah 1 year ago
@gerberakasbah Also on a personal level when it comes to feminists like you it's no wonder men are avoiding marrage because it's a no win scenario when it comes to a devorce. The women wins the house and children as well as alamony and the man is left holding his lottery ticket.
CpsLock3 1 year ago
@CpsLock3

@gerberakasbah
That being said, since I make more than my husband, in the unlikely event we did ever get a divorce, I would not bother arguing over it, the state mandates that I would pay it so I would.

Also quit calling me darling, it makes you sound like you're trying to pick someone up in a bar, it's creepy to hit on girls online and I'm a married woman.

lol you can't take youtube comments this seriously.

Averyofthemain 2 years ago
Yeah... like I said, you're grasping at straws. You arent using anything other than opinion, because you have no empirical evidence to offer (and yes, do some research, its well known that Celtic culture was matriarchal, I never said Viking culture was I said they were equals)
gerberakasbah 2 years ago
The only facts you've put up was a boring list of female nobel prize laureates, doesn't say anything about the general abilities of the female, manute bull can dunk a basketball on top of the goal post (that's almost 20 feet) but there only ten equivalent manute bulls in the world, it says nothing about the 3 billion other men, so it is an anomaly and disqualifies no satement to the contrary. That is my point and your emotional, silly responses prove me right.
Averyofthemain 2 years ago
maria mayer didn't work on the manhattan project, that's a fact.
You listed the ten women who've won nobel prizes in science over the last hundred and fifty years, okay, I was not unaware, but women aren't the driving force or even the bulk of any discipline, these are exceptions that prove the rule.
Averyofthemain 2 years ago
I listed some of the many, many women who have been inventors and scientists, if you want more than go look it up Im not your encyclopedia lol, your response is they are all just exceptions that prove the rule? That's ridiculous, if you make an argument, and its shown to be false, be a man and own up to it. That type of fanaticism about gender beliefs is usually something reserved for the radical feminists who so hate. Don't betray your standards in order to prove a point.
gerberakasbah 2 years ago
And I never said Maria Meyer worked on the Manhattan project, she did just what I said she did, nothing more and nothing less.
gerberakasbah 2 years ago
Her computations (solving the problem of so called "magic numbers" which scientists at the time could not figure out) were used by Teller when he first conceived of the hydrogen bomb.

Hi Everyone!
We are so happy with the response the Dreams for Women project is getting. We are definitely planning for a book with the postcards... but actually our first project will be to make a 2009 calendar with all the most loved secrets. It will be out this summer. In the meantime, take care and thanks again for your support!
AntigoneFoundation 3 years ago
Keep sending in those postcards. Speak out. Take a stand. Support the women in your life. We recently got a whole bunch of postcards from an eating disorder clinic in the US, which goes to show that Dreams for Women can be inspiring, therapeutic, and motivational. Postcards are posted on our blog every week.
We are inspired and hope you are too.

I like this concept of using images from advertisements and writing your own copy to them. Gives me some good ideas for class projects!

Regarding the choice of singer, I am grateful for the third-wave feminist belief that treating women fairly is a matter of attitude, not gender.
As for the prime minister wish, Maggie Thatcher did not help. Just saying.

Hey Secretwoid,
Good point! We definitely intend to feature female singers in our future videos! This was just a song that expressed well what we wanted to say... about the world needing an anthem... but we have some great female singers in mind for future videos! I hope you'll check back!
Take care,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the singer sure doesn't sound like a woman.
Are there any songs where women sing about their dreams? Perhaps you can find one.

This is an amazing project! Beautiful and heartbreaking. I find myself with tears in my eyes even now as it begins a second time. This really is deeply moving, and such a fantastic idea, desperately needed right now! I can see mentioning this everywhere I can! Even on my podcast! Really amazing!
