  • @samskhara I saw this video some years ago and I found it just wonderful. Not unrespectful at all.. It means to me: Humor. Maybe if we all have more humor sense we will feel better what we are: ONE.. Just laugh, and no more wars..Brothers

    Thank you!

  • @wisdomoftheancient I thank you so kind words. When we understand that everyone living in the same ship called Earth, we will leave out details that only hinder the peace. If all watch the video "The Pale Blue Dot" will understand what I mean. Peace and love to all.

  • One Native dancer I can see tearing this up is Garan Coons from Brule'. He is quite the dancer and loves to have fun with the dances! Love ya Garan!

  • I love this video! I wish this song existed a long long time ago, then I would of become the first female grass dancer LOL.

  • I love watching this.I would love to see this done at a powwow,in Baraga,Michigan.

  • yeah lets do the twist.....

  • This is such a beautiful video. I am Native American and this video just shows how universal music and dance are. This makes me proud. Thank You!!!!!!!!!

  • Yer an idiot.

  • just can't get enough of these guys.Excellant dance team.Wishing this could be the norm at every powwow.

  • "FORKIN AWESOME & SEXY LOVED IT OVER & OVER AGAIN THNX FOR SHARING"

  • These Natives are so proud to show their synchronized dance routine, which is just simply amazing!!Having a Chubby Checker song to represent that just shows we CAN be as one if given the chance. There is no disrespect. It's all just good "American" fun.

  • I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dats disrespect there buddy

  • excellent.....just excellent!

  • Was there anybody, who did not like this video? Native Americans are cool people.

I honor them very much, their original songs and dances.

This video is a good joke. Who does not understand it, has no sense of humour.

I watched this video again and again, and laughted every time. Music and dances

join people, does not matter, which nation - everybody is happy.

  • this made me smile so damn big, haha^^

  • wow so cool! I watch this one a few moments ago without the twist. ;p I love it! it match/sincs so well. I'm watchen again. The four who didn't like have no humor whats so ever.

  • wow so cool! I watch this one a few moments ago without the twist. ;p I love it! it match/sincs so well. I'm watchen again.

  • Wahaha Luv It!! Im neither Native American or American but I would be soo happy to be one right now. Mind you I love my culture and where Im from, but this clip brings a smile to my face and has my feet tapping away to the beat. The outfits are frickn geerate and watching the dancers bounce to the music... Aw haha sooo cute!!

  • Woooo! awesome

  • This is so darn cute..lmao... I showed the Fam and they all enjoyed it...

  • Samskhara - You done good......you need not to apologize to anyone.! And you owe no one no explanation. There will always be a few fruitcakes in EVERY basket.

I loved your video.....it was awesome. Pray for those who do not understand!

  • @Dustydebandi - I thank all who see this video, like it or not. The important thing here is the fun and the chance to show that music can unite people, races, religions, cultures and places completely different. There will always be those who do not like something, after all we are more than six billion people and it is impossible to please everyone. Peace to all.

  • @samskhara it made me cry becos i miss my people and the north dakota grasses. i cried cos it made me soo happy. thank you.

  • @samskhara - I'm Dakota Sioux and I just love this video. I put some of our fancy dancer to Persian music for my husband to take over to Iran to show his family. Yes music does unite people and cultures and if we can't find humor and fun in ourselves then we need to just lighten up or shut up.

  • @Dustydebandi I agree with you totally. What a wonderful video! I love grass dancing anyway, and the song was perfect. Thanks Samskhara, keep up the good work!

  • I believe this video to be an awesome awesome video. I have never been to a pow-wow (even thou I would like to go) and I am not NAI (not for sure what I am) but I have seen pow-wow's on T.V. and it appeared to me they were merely performing their natural steps and implementing them to today's music. I think it is awesome that we can all come together and enjoy one another's differences and look at the simularities amongst us. You all Rock...so Rock on! You have my vote.

  • i could watch this over n over again

  • Just thought I'd add..that I'm Native and have a son who Grass dances. I Love this and it fits the dance moves. As a matter of fact, I use native dance moves to dance to rock n roll,,disco,,etc,,LOL If the music moves you,,Dance whatever style you want,,just enjoy it.

  • LOL LOve it!!

  • I would like to say that this is great! I have too watched this over and over am a traditional woman dancer and i think this was done with style we dance alot at pow-wows and need to see some good dancing by the grass dancers and traditional dancers whether it was dubbed or not it was done with style

  • Native People Rock and this is just toooo COOL, Love it, make me more proud to be native

  • as native and having humor...I love this...and accept it in the fun that it was put together...two cultures together...LOVE IT

  • When I seen this video I thought it was so cool. I listened to this over & over and showed everyone. I love all kinds of music and I am Native American and proud. I was so in awe, & I thought "WOW"; people can be so creative.....

  • @TheLorena1968 yes, youre right, its creative and fun, i love and respect native people, i'm irish, our people had similar done to them by british in our country, i wish one day we could all go back to our native, natural ways but sadly whiteman/european greed ruined our freedom and ruined the world. evil will overcome the world!!

  • Wow...two worlds meet in the middle...now how about that.....what a beautiful dance and dubbed to a classic song...I watch this over and over...and love it more every time I watch it. Great work from all involved....Thanks for sharing.

  • I have been shooting Powows for 10 years and what a light and fun approach this is. Of course it is dubbed but look at how well the beat carried the dancers. And they were wonderful. As much as the song was fun I was watching the dancers do an amazing team dance. Rock on. We are all members of this good earth and music and dance are the two things that unite us.

  • This Is An Awesosme Video

  • Does this mean that Red Men Can Jump?

  • Look at those dam sexy ndn men....DAYUM!!! LUV IT!!!

  • this is funny! the sync is good too. i understand the opposition to this, but i have found that indians have a very sly and slick sense of humor. a bit of coyote in everyone!! enjoy it in the fun it was meant to be

  • Only Natives could do grass dance moves to this song. I love it. Making NEW traditions :-)

  • I love it, i am a Mi'gmaq from the East Coast of Canada, and i think this rocks

  • LOL...Ah i like this man they should actually try this at GON it be too cool

  • @Stancey

Gee, that hurts. Were you among these buffoons?

  • @tonywsmith2 , no ofenses, please!

  • @tonywsmith2 "buffoons"... good one.

  • Transcending cultural boundaries. Fantastic!

  • Comment removed

  • @tonywsmith2 Oh dear, don't worry, someone might look past your pathetic negativity and pasty white skin (but alas it's doubtful). Ecological parasites - how many days did it take you to come up with that one you idiot.

  • @shelski72

Alas, you're misguided, turd. Mother Scottish-French background, father black American. "Ecological parasites"? Don't take it personally, pal, but don't wear it like a badge of honor, either.

  • I love it, I grew up dancing at powwows. It shows that dancing and music are universal. All you party poopers cmon, this is obviously a contest, not a sacred ceremony. It's a powwow.

  • I love it, I grew up dancing. This is a great blend of cultures and shows dancing is universal. Sure it's dubbed, when did you ever go to a powwow and they played records? All you sour pusses have to realize this is obviously a team dance contest and that kinda negates the sacred aspect, when you dance for money all bets off.

  • reaal deadly =)

  • HAHAHAHA this is awsome two thumbs up

  • Love the video!! Just love my indain dancing and drumming!!

  • Amo isto. onde isto aconteceu!?

  • maahniik

Isso é uma montagem de uma apresentação de grupos indígenas nos EUA com a música do Chubby Checker, que por feliz coincidência, tem a mesma cadência da música original.

  • wow in time to the song lol XD

  • Great vid - but it's obvious that the song was dubbed after the video was taken.

  • @HecticEclectic , of course ! ! !

  • THis is cool...by the way where is this PowWow? I love the way they have teams♥

    I'm from FSJ...Beautiful British Columbia

  • This is excellent!

  • Wonderful !

Thanks for posting this for us !

  • they took a video of the dancers and than added music to it , the timing is off ... to have been done at a reg. powwow

  • Love this video

  • These guys are hot. Not the song but all these Nativ guys man.

  • Shaaaasht!!! right on...i am think ing the women love this I am gonna try this at the next pow wow!!!.

  • I'm a woman and I love this. The dancers DO look sexy. As far as I know there is nothing "sacred" about team dancing. It's about having fun - and this looks like a lot of fun. I hope you do try it at your next pow wow and I hope I'm there to watch it!

  • @KahkwaMc as another woman it sure has my vote! :-)

i think its great & would be MUCH fun to see live!! those fellas

can DANCE!! love it....and yea all the naysayers on here need to lighten

up...its a POW WOW for gosh sakes NOT a "sacred" Dance good grief!

would love to see it!!! :-D LOL

  • Listen folks.... Pow wow are for social gatherings, they are ceremonial gatherings, yes we have sacred items in play, but don't forget what pow wow is about, it is about gathering of all nations/families etc to celebrate and dance.... lighten up to those culture copps. Geesus people we have moved on but not far from our orginal teaching. I hope to see more of this........totally awesome!! I wanna do some Team DAncing Too!!! Man those guys look sexy.

  • Elvis Presley would be very proud of you guys ! :O)

  • It´s very funny.

Peace and Love to everyone...Yellows, Reds, Whites, Blacks....

Ours planet need this kind of "point of view". NO WAR!!!!!!!!

  • awesome!!

  • Good stuff, they do the track up well

  • this was more enjoyable to watch than that bump and grind booty shaking I've seen people do in their jingle dresses, pow wow hip hop or whatever.

  • We all have witnessed changes on how we do culture and traditions....this team dancing and song made me feel happy I have heard many Elders say powwow makes you feel good..dancing or watching...I have seen alot worse done in powwow than this..THIS IS GOOD!!!

  • @osawkihew Culture evolves

  • @osawkihew You are right. Culture evolves and this is fun and in no way disrespectful!

  • For those people who have lost about every bit of the old ways, for those who don't have anything else, powwow dance is all they have and so they place great importance on it, considering it sacred. For them it IS sacred.

While tribes and people who still have their own ancient medicine ways and dances, powwow is strictly seen as social dancing. While certain elements are sacred to them too, like the eagle feathers and flag song, overall for these folks, powwow is a modern fun thing.

  • ok, aside from the funny idea of an "Indian line dance"...

Ya know, a lot of the ancient dances were done in group and synchronized. My tribe the Ioway had an Eagle Dance described by Catlin in the 1830s that was done very patterned in groups of four going to the different directions and coming back. And that was a sacred dance.

And at a sacred dance down at San Juan Pueblo in the 90s, I saw hundreds of people dancing synchronous

Maybe things are a circle, and things are going back like that.

  • haha this is funny

  • Im sorry people but you are all really stupid. For one this is not offensive. This is done at a Pow-Wows and everything done at a Pow-Wow is not ritualistic at all.We have some every now and then. This is called a TEAM DANCE where they are judged on how good their group can dance together.Seriously maybe cause you been to a small Pow-Wow once or twice doesn't make you an expert!

  • It is sad that some First Nation have found offense in this lightly humorous music overlay to a very good stage performances. these dancers were not at a round dance, or a pow wow - it wouldn't be inside an auditorium (generally) if it were - both of those being ceremonial dances that would have been offensive to overlay. If anything this clip gives exposure to First Nation dance; and something it could use a lot more of. Far from 'poking fun' or 'being condescending' towards First Nation.

  • I understand that if the shooting had been done in secret, during a religious ceremony official, following the tribal rites and then superimposed, then it would be disrespectful. As the filming was done during a performance demonstration of ritual dances, open to the general public, I did not see anything wrong in doing so. Also, some people interested in seeing the original video after seeing this assembly, further disseminating this culture so rich and complex. Peace.

    (excuse my poor english)

  • oh have a sense of humour, I think it is funny and neat, and I am from cree decent.

  • if this was meant to be offensive, I think it could have been a lot worse. I also said, this is the first time I seen any dancing like this where these guys are all dancing together. I thought the hip hop pow wow was out of the ordinary and was a bit reluctant on liking it. I posted one of our High School Students doing the Chicken Dance at the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Senior Pow Wow. That is the type of Wacipi aka pow wow dancing I am used too. Thanks for allowing my comments, Pila

  • It was never my intention to be offensive. All are very welcome to comment and post here. Even those who do not like my work. Peace!

  • I am Lakota and can see where this was made out of fun unless otherwise specificed. When you do anything like this you will be subject to criticism, whether you call it art or not. I see one of the dancers commented so that should be one indication it may have crossed the line for an individual who is actually in the video. This is the first I have ever seen a "troupe" dance in synchrony at a pow wow or exhibitiion. Just like the hip hop pow wow dancing going on, something new to me.

  • I totally agree with you. I'm of chippewan and ojibwe decent. i dont find this video tasteless or offending.. however i find the hip hop pow wow dancing very offensive towards our traditional dancing

  • I'm part American Indian and I found this very offensive! You should be ashamed of yourself! Go make fun of your own culture and heritage and leave ours alone.

  • Vinniebearinpa. I answer to you showing the same video that I have indicated (Pale Blue Dot). I feel immensely if you felt offended. We are very small in front the universe to get tied up in certain concepts. Each has his point of view. I respect your - though I do not agree (it's my point of view) - then respect my. Peace.

  • LOL ever cool XD! 5*

  • Part 1 of 2/ Of course you don't see any disrespect samskhara, you are not native, not had the teaching, and know very little of the culture, obviously. Um, let me put it this way, what is called Archiology to one culture is called grave robbing to the one's who see their ancestrial lands desecrated by non indiginous grave robbers.

  • this vid was taken at 1995 Red Earth Pow Wow, Oaklahoma ... I am one of the dancers you see here.. um, I am not happy with the disrespect of our traditions in this way.........................................

  • Excuse me, but I do not see disrespect in it. I see as a way to demonstrate the possibility of two different cultures, is through art. Failure would be if there was evidence of any form of discrimination. In my humble opinion the art is to show the state of his spirit of humanity and share the beauty and synchronicity with nature.

    Peace.

  • Part2/ Also, any self respecting person who has just been told that doing something like this is a disrespect to his nation would have oppologised profusely, not gone on the total defence of refusing to see from the other persons point of view with justification for their actions, eh? My god! I would have been SO embarrased and oppologised to the person... Shakes head.

  • how is this disrespectful towards our tradition? its not like the person who posted this video meant to offend anyone. besides its not like he wrote racial slurs or anything like that. you wanna talk about disrespect towards the Aboriginal culture.. then take a look at the powwow dancers shaking their asses to hiphop music.. now thats disrespectful!

  • That was great I loved it alot!

  • Hmmm...I wonder where the original dance was staged? And I wonder what those dancers would think of their performance with this song as a soundtrack?

But regardless - I guess you could say that some human cultural activities (like dancing) are universal.

And the movements do match the song quite well.

  • See the vídeos of littlebear1963 - native americans videos. There you'll find the original vídeo.

About the dancers think about you can aks the same littlebear1963.

    My gretings.

    Peace.

  • I love that style of dancing! it takes alot of yrs & skill..No offence I hope..

It was really cute as can be..

Why can't we laugh at ourselves?

I think it was a great video, well thought out & put togather perfect! x...Lane*

  • @Lanesteepee hey gal :) yep i agree 110%--sorry that the dancer who was in it cannot see the lighter side & laugh about it a lil bit. last time i checked "team dance" was NOT a sacred tradition at an indoor areana style pow wow...now maybe if done as a round dance or somethin @ a ceremony that would be different...but geeeesh some ppl need to lighten up a little!!! smiling takes less muscles than frowning ;)

  • so freakin great :D

  • LOL...ah, that one made me smile. =D

  • amazing.

  • My first impression is that it looks curiously but then I think the movements and the music match up together very well. But it is a little strange or not?

  • Really strange, but how do you say curiously and funny . . .

  • Yes, not curiously, but very surprisingly, but I have a little smile on my face. But it is really amazing.

  • Sensacional !

  • Gostou? Então dê uma olhada nos meus vídeos e assista a montagem que fiz em cima do clipe do desenho Madagascar.
