This movie is so deep I could never watch it without wanting to break down. I wonder if his mother even cared that he died. Where are the movies like this today?
I'm no wangster or "whiteboy" although I am white I don't even really like rap unless its from before 1996, if that. But I know good cinema and this movie is excellent. I grew up in Los Angeles obviously not South Central but I understand these themes.
@nobodysperfect06 I think it was to show that the cycle of violence continues. The guys he took out prob had connections which went after him. Then some of his friends prob went after those who whacked him. Its one of the themes of the film.Violence begats more violence and the culture these guys live in is hard to break free of like Trey and Brandi did. This film should be shown in all inner city schools to show kids the sad reality of gang culture and the value of education.
@ZeoTheZombie People talk. Doughboy probably mentioned to someone who told someone else, who told someone else. Plus people would put 2 and 2 together if they knew those other guys had killed his brother. It could even have just been some other guys he had beef with for whatever reason. The point is if you live by the sword you die by the sword so to speak. There are no happy endings if you live your life like that.
I've seen the movie so many times, I know what's coming next... and even if I make it through Ricky's shooting and the whole darn movie without crying, this last scene still gets me started.
My favorite charcter in the movie is Dough Boy. I felt sooo sorry for him. Was ALWAYS there for Ricky and didn't get ANY love from his mother. He had it rough and didn't have a chance in life, sad :(
you should have got the full scene, there's some great diologue in this scene

@ArturasDzeikas The song is "Theme From Boyz N The Hood" by Stanley Clarke. It's featured on his album "East River Drive" from 1993.

The sentence
"You still got one brother left, man.."
followed me for years..
I can NEVER watch the movie without crying at the end..
This film is just so deep.. the whole emotions and so on..
I think Menace 2 Society should just show how shit life in Ghetto really is, and should show it like in a documentation..
But Boyz n the Hood was more realistic and much more emotional..
I mean.. I could feel that all..
Miss those old itmes.. :(
