@TheIrishboy99 They don't compare, the G35 is no where near as powerful. To get close you need to turbo the VQ35DE. Probably better handling though with the more modern suspension and chassis setup. It's fast but compared to the Supra 2JZGTE it is no competition.

Only the top of the line is a GTR, then you have the GTS-T, GT-E, GTS-4, GTS, etc. Hell the base model R32 Skyline GXi made 90bhp with 1.8L I4 lol

Yeah, 300+ horsepower sports cars are becoming more and more common these days (even Hyundai!). The G35 in this video was introduced in 2003. At that time, it was the most powerful in the entry level luxury sports coupe segment.

Well, assumingly you're looking at the 330Ci of the same years, you're not gonna get much better fuel economy. The EPA estimate for an 06 330Ci for example, is 20 city, 23 highway. On premium. Unfortunately, in this class of car, you gotta pay to play.

As well, the 06 330ci has 225 horsepower compared to a manual shift G35's 298. 0-60 time for the 330ci is estimated by Edmund's as 6.3 seconds with the stick shift. Both the manual and auto G35 coupe's are quicker.

According to Car & Driver magazine, the auto does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds compared to 5.5 seconds for the manual. Quarter mile is done in 14.6 seconds with the auto compared to 14.2 with the manual. So yeah, the manual is quite a bit quicker, but the auto is by no means slow. As used cars, an auto G35 would also be easier to find and cheaper to buy as most G35 buyers went with auto as the car is more of a "personal luxury" car than a sports car (ie-the 350z).

Patience pays off most of the time. You have to be sure that, if you just buy an auto G35 right now, would you regret it later when you find a stick-shift G35 for sale?

Not that the auto sounds bad at all. It's got one of those manual/auto trannies so you can choose to shift the car yourself if you want, or leave it in "D" when you're feeling lazy. But if you love driving manual, there's just no replacement for the good old fashioned stick shift.

i have a 2004 G35 sedan triptronic (automanual) and its not slow at all! of course it is slower than the MT but with a few tweeks here and there i got it doing 0-100kph in 5 secs closed and have only invested like $300 i believe and it sounds increadible ill be posting vids soon so u know what i mean ;)

Good looking car but disappointing performance. I know this from a track day at eastern creek... Even a Pulsar SSS running at 9 PSI left this for dead. They got no sudden torque, it's too linear power... I know, it's only a NA V6 but how can this be dubbed a Skyline? This thing is as bad as a 350z... Beautiful but slow... Oh btw, this car got one of the lowest time trial on that day... Even a liberty RX got a better time...

I really don't know why Nissan dubbed the 350GT as a Skyline but I'm guessing they wanted to target a broader audience with a more accessible car to the crowd. I mean let's face it, a GT-R isn't exactly cheap. Even a used GT-R in Australia (R34) is roughly AU$70k give or take 5k. The 350GT is a nice V6 with 199Kw and 353Nm of torque. Spec wise the 350GT has the power and torque but because it's NA the delivery is linear rather than a sudden boosted induction that jerks you back against the seat.

The power and especially torque delivery in a NA car is consistently equal throughout the rev range. A car with some sort of induced boost such as turbo or supercharger delivers the type or torque that jerks you to the seat. Not saying that all NA cars are like that but most of them are. V6 isn't as bad since they got bigger engines with larger displacement, hence still making them fun to drive. While V8s well, they are just pure muscle so they are great as it is.

But the overall a 4 cylinder car with turbo for instance creates much more of a sudden torque than most NA cars. That is why people that drive turbo intercooled 4 bangers rave about it so much. The thrill and fun it delivers is second to none. Not saying that they are the fastest cars around, after all they are only 4 cylinders. But who needs to go 300km/h :)
