  • @1200com

It went because better systems came out. And these betters systems are capable of downloading classic arcade games like this. Pretty obvious. There are plenty of companies that still make retro-style 16-bit games, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about.

  • this game teach me swear

  • i played it wehn i was young, many yearo ago. very hard game. :D Much harder than most games today.

  • damn it i love this fucking music and the sound effects. one of the best capcom games along with UN Squadron

  • lol epic fail lol

  • Arcade version is much better.

  • thumbs up if absolute sure no one ever beat that game(the 2 times) without using any sort of tool/trick/cheat/whatever.

  • hahaha ending caught me so off guard I was like damn this guys good.. I remember as a kid I only made it to the second level a couple times I watched my brother make it to the third level I think and I was in awe.. I think you got lucky tho getting those suits of armor so early I used to keep playing the very beginning until I got the green armor off the first pillar

  • How do you do the special skills with the gold armour?

  • Comment removed

  • HARDEST. GAME. EVER.

  • hahahahhahahahahahha!! you died horribly

  • the only thing that sucks about this game is that your guy jumps like he has down syndromes and that runes the whole game

  • @TalkingWithMeRADIO Well to be fair the guy's got on armor and a shield. You're not going to see Lebron slam-dunking on anyone with armor on that's for sure. It's actually amazing he can jump as well as he does.

  • At the end I was like use the gold suits charge to blast the treasure chest,...no don't jump over there....no bear trap! Ahhhhh....

  • brings back memories

  • better on the megadrive

  • i just got this for 7 bucks, the pan version non the less!

  • Dark souls is the modern equivalent of this... even if it is a bit easier

  • **WHEN WILL THIS BE AVAILABLE ON THE WII????!!!!

  • @Mindi31 Caps for the win! It's already been out on Wii Virtual Console for a few years now.

  • @ShiryuGL But I have to buy a SNES remote to play it...it doesn't work with wii remote. does the SNES remote just plug into the Wii? ....I don't get it lol

  • @Mindi31 Search for "Classic Controller Addon" or the superior "Classic Controller Pro Addon". They attach tothe Wiimote. Easy. =)

  • @ShiryuGL ooooh you have made me a very happy woman! thx for the help. I'm ready for another victorious win 15 years since I've played it last!

  • @Mindi31 My pleasure. v ^_^

  • @ShiryuGL I loved it on my SNES, and I love it now on my hacked Wii

  • the ending is the saddest thing... you were doing so well!!

  • I was wondering while watching this vid near ending that why would this vid end while you're still half way through the stage and you're going great...then I found my answer at the end lol this game is such a troll

  • i remember playing this when i was like 10. I got to the last level and beat that last boss then i flipped the fuck out when i realized i had to play the entire game over again.

    still, i love this game

  • I LOVE THE SONG

  • This game is pretty easy actually.

  • @BLooDCalibuR2 dude ur badass!!!

  • @BLooDCalibuR2 WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?

  • @BLooDCalibuR2 Are you kidding?

  • @BLooDCalibuR2 Can I have your skills?

  • @BLooDCalibuR2 not without mods or cheats like endless continues. pls...

  • I be brutally honest with you, I never made it through the 1st stage...

  • I can get through the whole game first time but fuck doing it all over again and even harder!

  • I remember growing up with this Im 19 now but I still love the old ass games Lets face it NES was hard as hell we may not want to admit cuz everyone thinks there the best gamer ever but i never beat this game , I did beat castlevania though I still love that one

  • oh this takes me back... BEST MUSIC EVER!

  • this game has nice music

  • this game has badass music

  • Melhor jogo da minha infancia!!!! Q alegria acabar de descobrir o nome desse jogo!

  • best game ever

  • so this is the game arthur came from. lol he looks more buff in this game than his mvc3 version

  • There's a funny Mega64 video of this. It's hilarious hahahah.

  • I beat it when I was something like 12 years old! Great game! Now I know why I never feel stressed out.

  • jeeze them chests loved you i dont remember getting a freaking armor peice everytime. it was more like surprise your a baby

  • This game is heartless just look at the end of this video.

  • I personally enjoy this one the most. Still play it today...a great challenge, even thought I've got most of it memorized.

  • How come I never found the armor? AAAH Now I need to go play again!!

  • i like the sega genesis version better

  • made myself want to find out my snes and play this D: It won't work on my new tv though

  • Ahh!! that game gave me a lot of pleasure and pain at a same time

  • I still say to this day this game is in the Top 10 hardest games nintedo relased.

  • 2:54 Hey, it's Shoop da Whoop!

  • i remember playing all of it in one day... various times. Amazing game. The sea part was so fucking hard!!!

  • i remember playing this as a kid man there was a level with a boat of some kind and i always died right near the end and my dad would just fly through it :@ lol was such a great game defo gonna try finish it now im older

  • love the music. game was so hard. anyone play Marvel vs Capcom 3??? Sir Arthur is in and he kicked "ass"!!!!

  • This is a pretty tough game. Even by today's standards, its pretty hard.

  • Fun game! But man it's so hard. I personally think this is more fun than the older NES game.

  • I was on a lanparty this weekend, and a guy had built a sweet arcade machine himself, and guess what i was playing on it all the time :P

  • best games ever!!

  • hardest game on SNES D: but i did beat it :DD and it's fun through out all levels

  • i love this fucking game forever and ever (Capcom Is Best) ^___^

  • this sounds like the fire-stage in aladdin (snes-version)

  • I am ordering it on eBay. Oh yeah I have been searching for the name of this game. I can't wait to get it.

  • AT LAST!!!

finally i remember name of this game

i've been looking for this game since i played it on my cousin's gameboy about a decade ago

  • You couldn't save your progress on this game. My dad was addicted to this game and he would leave it on when he went to work. When I came home from school, I was like "SWEET! IM ON LEVEL 12!"....When he got home, my ass got BEAT lol

  • WTF at the end.

  • Ouch, owned by the trap. You were doing so good, too! :(

  • what is the green armor for? i only remember the gold armor from the arcade

  • @AlirazaVideoGames green for upgraded weapon and yellow for super charged weapon, you can also get a shield that blocks projectiles.

i made completed the last level by using safestates, when i heard i had to do everyting over again i rage-quitted.

  • Readygo... THATS how hard this game is!

  • I used to enjoy the Sega Mega Drive version, one of the first games i brought and like the Snes version yes, it was iratating that you got to the end only to have to go through the game all over again.

Good job nowadays you can use Emulators and Save!

I dont think kids nowadays would have the patience we had back in the 80's and 90's when you had to sit all the way through a game to complete it i.e No Saves

  • Never knew that dollars existed in medieval times.

  • TRAP.

  • man you picked up the torch. the worst weapon in the game. id prefer a stick to the torch weapon.

  • this is my very first game on my gba and i still love it

  • the ol beartrap in the treasure chest routine, classic

  • oh my god the last time I've played this game was in 1992, when we move from our old house, I havent seen this game since.

  • I like this game but it's so $%#$@%# hard to beat!! Has anyone actually ever beat it? I wonder...

  • @4105lalala Yes, I did.

  • @ShiryuGL How long did it take you?...HONESTLY. lol

  • @4105lalala A week back in 1992 or 1993. A real slap in the face when you reach the end and *SPOILERS* sends you right back at the start to do it all over agaian and reach the real final level with the bracelet. Things got easier when the "level select cheat" appeared in a magazine (No internet back then). So I just had to start from the last level in order to play all levels just once.

  • @ShiryuGL So, you cheated.

  • @ShiryuGL That was insane! I remember staring at the TV as it happened. And then I played it through once again to reach the "real" ending. Hm, I´m getting the suspicion that I was way more resistant to frustration as a kid than these days. =D

  • @4105lalala im playing it right now lol i found my snes, and i been playing for about 4 hours and im only on lvl 3...

  • @screwston91

    Good luck ! :D

At least, you can help you using the level select cheat code to "save" your progress since the game is pretty long (because of the difficulty). ;)

  • @4105lalala i finished it too but only at normal difficult.at hard its nearly impossible whitout savestats, and savestats are only for noobs !i finished it on console not whit emulator !^^

  • @Jimmy424 Cool...

  • @4105lalala I beat it one time. I haven't bothered to try again since.

  • @4105lalala theemero is an lets player and beit it 2 ^^

  • @4105lalala hahaha i suck so bad at old games i can't even beat the 2nd level of castlevania 3

  • @KingKayhan lol. I never played Castlevannia 3. But at least I can say that I beat Super Castlevannia 4...FINALLY.

  • @4105lalala I actually played it recently and got to Dracula but couldm't beat him.

  • @4105lalala yes I've beat it hundreds of times. It was my favorite game when I was younger and use to be able to beat it in les than an hour I thinkmy record was 37 mins or something like that

  • Thank you for bringing back the old memories! Took me all Christmas break back in the day to beat it, but it was worth it ! :)

  • I still have this game, but it's on the PS2. :/

  • Anyone know if I've ever played this game?

  • Greed is no good :)

I love this game. I STRUGGLED to beat it but it was all worth it at the end ;)

  • They used Megaman X sound effects

  • not as difficult as in i wanna be the guy :D

  • this game is awesome. not as difficult as the two predecessors (sp?). but that is what makes it good. the first 2 games were too hard in my opinion.

  • This game was EVERYWHERE in the late 80's. Youd walk into a laudromat and there it was in a corner somewhere. I think everyone recognized this game from that era. Even if they never played it the music was still lodged in their brain subconsciously.

  • @vato76 sorry i was talking about the original one.

  • This game is so damn hard. The first game ghouls and ghosts was harder though

  • @moreoreos123 I question that. This is one of the hardest commercially released games ever.

  • @NinjaRunningWild I'm serious dude. Download a sega genesis emulator and play it.

  • @moreoreos123 oh that game? I've played it on an actual Genesis. This is way harder. have you beaten both?

  • @NinjaRunningWild yes I've played and beaten both. I had a harder time with the first one

  • If I were YOU, I wouldn't mess with the last treasure chest. I would've kept going foward. But nooooo you just HAD to open the chest and the bear trap knocked you off the grass. XD

  • If only Arthur had those kind of powers in Ghosts 'n Goblins

  • The arcade version is ridiculously hard cause they wanted as many coins inserted as possible. Their is a lot more variation in this one i liked it.

  • pwned by a bear trap XD

  • i love this game

  • LMAO at 3:12 !

  • i remember playing this game thru and at the end the girl said that i had forgotten to bring her something back but i cant remember what ... oh well good old days. ps that whater level with the ghosts was hard as fuck lol

  • Epic ending.... haahah

  • LOL - best ending ever

  • I love this game, also, I fucking hate this game

  • game is as hard as fuck

  • haha genius i played this all the time back in the days

  • man this game is epic and it took me a while to pass.. but the fun i had... good times....

  • SNES ROCKS this game was one of the first snes games, its hard like a hell but i love it on of my favourites !^^

  • I like this game alot but its so unforgiving.

  • see him get pwnt by trap at end rofl!!!

  • My game is uploaded. It will prove that the arrogant Capcom programmers who claim they are programming Gods, are infact the dumbest peice of shit who ever lived.

  • @psycopathicteen Except you take into account 1% of the game physics and collision detections that they do. Just because you can put a few sprites on the screen, accept input, and do some Mode 7 effects does not give you the bedrock to back a ridiculous statement like that. Ship a game. Then we'll talk.

  • this game is sooooooo hard

  • I wanna buy it now, is this the beginning of the game? looks pretty hard for the beginning.

  • this game is superior to castlevania

  • u shouldn't gone for that last chest

  • was and is a nice game; but in level 4, after the ship it always became tooo difficult :-(

  • this is the game i was looking for it was the shit i remember getting all the armor upgrades

  • ROFL, this game is one hell of hard game!! Though its fun, the movements are very lame though. If you can beat this game your pwn haxor.

  • i KNEW that trap was there, i was telling my screen, NO DON'T ITS A TRAP ITS ALWAYS THERE!

  • Thanks for this video, quality game!

  • how you can record to the tv screen?

  • Speaking of Virtual Console, between this, Super Castlevania IV, and Ghouls n' Ghosts, what would anyone recommend?

  • Both. Just... both.

  • @SeoulMan LOL I have both of those, if you want something to really bust your balls, and give you an ambition to beat it, then get Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, but if you want a challenging game, but one that can be beaten in a day if you try hard enough then get Super Castlevania IV.

  • FUCKIN TRAPS!!!! Wow this game brings back fun memories. I could never get that money at the very top of that one statue, and at the water lart, i always jumped whenever tha wave came. The knives were always my favorite weapon, and i always felt good when i got mu gold armor :)

  • This was one of my favourite games, but I hated it at the same time because I found it so hard and couldn't beat it.

  • @Lightf00t1 Try ghost n goblins on the NES and you will know what hard is

  • @Lightf00t1 I used to play the Sega Master System version of G&G when I was a kid, and I beat that several times. I'm not sure if the SNES version is harder or not though. If you want a really hard game from that era, try Shadow of the Beast. Out of the hundred times I played that, I only beat it about three times.

  • hahahaha the trap fucked him up

  • I'm programming a run'n'gun game on the Super Nintendo and boy are Capcom's programmers stupid. My game has wayyy more sprites on screen and it doesn't have slowdown.

  • Please show us what you're working on, since in into gamedev myself. However, it's not fair comparing unofficial programming tools in 2009 with the one official available back in 1992. Looking forward to hear more from you. =)

  • @ShiryuGL

I would show a video but my video capture device slows my computer down.

  • You should try diffrent ones. FRAPs is very CPU consuming. Hypercam is much less CPU intensive. Plus, it really doesn't matter. if you can caputre anything lirk 10-15 frames per second is good enuff to show us. How about some screenshots, then?

  • @psycopathicteen have u considering using zsnes emulator and recording program using lame?

    I using that too....

  • @murutattack I'd like to use some ZNES emulator to record my play, but something seems to be wrong. When I only play, I get sound. However, if I enter record mode, I don't hear the sound even if I record it. What is the option I need to turn on or off in order to be able to hear sound while I record please?

  • @HalDanGhor i recorded it with no problems at all.....

when you dumping the record, you will not hear any sound but the game is still moving.....

you just have to wait until you have stop recording.......

check my video for my gameplay after i dumping the record gameplay.

  • @murutattack Yes, but to play better, I need to record while hearing the sounds. Playing with no sound even if it records the songs is not normal.

  • @ShiryuGL Just search for SNES programming and you'll find it. I did some GBA coding a while ago. I'd recommend that path as a GBA is really just a shrunken SNES. That, gbadev-dot-org, Devkit Advance, strong C knowledge, and lots of time, and you can have a lot of fun.

  • @psycopathicteen too bad their game will always be better regardless of how many sprites you have

  • @psycopathicteen haha i laugh at ur ignorance , capcom didnt have the developer tools like we got today dude this was in the 90s and the super nintendo was the best and most advanced system out there

  • @Leoooonard

Capcom was a liscensed developer and got the official Nintendo development kit. Today Nintendo no longer supports the SNES. The SNES homebrew scene is pretty crappy, and I'm one of the few that is actually trying stuff out.

  • @psycopathicteen That is why all of my favorite game developers are so late in the game's development process. Nintendo ONLY wanted to give the famous and well known game companies their development kit first, while Taito, and Natsume had wait until 1991 to get it.

  • @psycopathicteen Yeah, a pc with emulators has, oh, about a million times more CPU horsepower than an actual SNES.

  • Oh and let's not forget the slowdown! Arggh... sorry but I couldn't stand this one. hats off to anyone who likes it and can get very far without cheating.

  • Near-impossible difficulty (not even "fun" hard), downgraded gameplay ("super" and yet you can't fire up or down like you could in the arcade/genesis Ghouls 'n' Ghosts)... argh. Sure the graphics are pretty (for console 16 bit), but that's about it. Play the arcade original instead, unless you're a gaming god with infinite patience

  • man, i've played the snes version multiple times and i don't recall a golden power-up suit! i thought that was only in the sega master system version.

  • The golden suit only appears after you get the green suit, and the blue sheild appears only after the golden suit.
