Oh wow, I remember watching this game! The 49ers led 20-10 at halftime. The Rams came back in the second half and got ahead 24-23, but their defense was horrendous that year, and they couldn't keep the Niners from scoring one last time to win 30-24.
@GeorgiaKev I also remember that year, the Rams opened the season in Green Bay. After jumping out to a 23-0 Halftime lead on the Packers, Green Bay then erupted for 5 touchdowns in the second half and crushed the Rams 35-23. To say that the Rams Defense in 1982 was "Horrendous" was a blatant understatement.
@Jiltedin2007 The Rams gave up 250 points in just 9 games that year. The 57-day strike which cancelled half the season was probably a blessing for 1982 L.A. Rams. Good to see them bounce back the following season.
@GeorgiaKev Are you sure that the hiring of former USC Coach John Robinson had nothing to do with the Rams making it to the Playoffs by the whiskers in 1983? If I also recall, it was Mark Lansford who booted a long Field Goal in New Orleans as time expired to kick the Rams into the Playoffs before getting thrashed by the eventual Super Bowl bound Washington Redskins.
@Jiltedin2007 Yes, I think Robinson had a lot to do with it. And you'd be correct about Lansford's game-winning 42-yard field goal at New Orleans on 12-18-83...I WAS AT THE GAME!!!
@GeorgiaKev I really don't know how much time was left in the game when Mike Lansford kicked the Rams into the Playoffs. You were there in New Orleans, you tell me. How much time was left in the clock when Lansford made that winning Field Goal?
I've been lookingv for this music, been trying to remember when that opening first happened.

The late-Ray Malavisi was fired after the 1982 season and was replaced by former USC head coach John Robinson before the 1983 season.
