I never met Michael Jeter but I live in his home town and it has always bothered me that it seems the city and county hardly ever mention him. I've always wondered if he had been some macho tough guy type would it be different. He was a GREAT actor and a gentle soul. To the powers that be in Lawrence County, shame on you...
just treat yourself to the video of "we'll take a glass together". i have never seen anything like it. the show wasn't great, but when someone or something stop the show, you never forget it and his dancing and personality stopped the show. the theatre shook. thank you mr. jeter.
Hey Jeter: I will alway remember the summer of 1980 when you, George W., and I spent all our time together. I knew you in Memphis days, in NYC days, and in Hell-A days - in whatever days, you were always a sweetheart to me. I think of you often, and miss you even more.
What a talent. His performance in Grand Hotel was mesmerizing. He had the most amazing personality and seemed so incredibly genuinely loved. RIP Michael. You made a world a better place - thank you for the pleasure.
@hypgroove1234 all of the smiles the laughs the tears he brought into peoples eyes and that is how you can summarize and dismiss his life ? Where are your ethics your morals that you can denigrate a dead man ? Someone who is not here to defend themselves ? Do you have no kindness even to remain silent with your hatred ? Think and live and let live friend. Its an easier path than hatred. Trust me.
I met Michael in when I lived in Toronto, hung out with him off and on for a couple weeks. What a great, sweet and funny guy. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him was richer for it. And we are all richer for having him grace this world. RIP Michael.
So a lovable character!!!! I just loved him!!! He made me laugh no matter what he was doing......He was incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to his sister...I'm sorry for your loss...I sorry for the idiots that post stupid crap. You were very blessed as he. <3 God Bless you and peace be with you. As a recovered alcoholic, his speech at the end here, really chocked me up. I adored him and didn't even know that. Be blessed.
Knew Michael at Univ of Memphis where even then he was an actor's actor. Amazingly gifted. Everyone who shared the stage with him was touched by his good spirit. A quality he never lost.
Michael was my cousin, whom I only truly new through the many emails we sent back in forth. I still miss those letters and the humor and kindness that they held. Mike your spirit lives on and is inspiration to us all. Thank you.
The World, alas, is so much poorer without his beaming, talented, presence....this angelic man could DO anything, and make you believe...
God Rest You, my dear fellow man, you are thought of often, and always bring a tear to this old boy's eyes....sometimes in sadness, sometimes in wicked delight to have seen you in performance, both live and in film.
He ruined The Green Mile for one reason: after his character died, there was no film. He stole the WHOLE thing magnificently. This was one of America's finest actors, and I consider it a very great personal shame that, as my career takes off, I will never get to work with him. What a loss! ARGGGGH, why is it always people like him???? Rest in peace you talented man, Michael.
I KNOW!!! Oh, my gosh, I feel exactly the same way. I saw him in the Green Mile the other day and was AMAZED. That exact thing went through my mind when I found out he died: NOW I CAN'T ACT WITH HIM!! :(( sigh.
He's literally one of the most talented character actors I've ever seen. Truly an inspiration
miaastro you LIE YOU NEVER SAY THE WAY DELACROIX DIED WAS JUSTICE! HE COOKED IN THAT DAMNED ELECTRIC CHAIR AND IN THE BOOK HE WAS AWAKE WHEN HIS EYES BLEW FROM THEIR SOCKEST AND WHEN HIS EYELIDS COUGHT FLAMES!!!!!! THAT'S NOT JUSTICE IT WAS CRUELTY AND TORTURE!!!!!!!
He's one of my favorite actors. He certainly seems liek one of those people who lived their life to the fullest, and I'm sure he's having a great time in heaven too. :]
Jeter was open about being gay and troubles with drug and alcohol addiction, and for a short time retired from entertainment. Although he was diagnosed HIV-positive in 1997, it is not thought to be a factor in his death.[5][6]
this is your best work of still pics to music and you chose the perfect song. it makes him seem like such a strong, kind and wonderful person who deserved to be with us for longer. it makes me very sad. well done. 5 stars

I adore Michael's acting, his Ethel Merman impresssion from 'The Fisher King' will forever be in my mind.
Re 'The Green Mile', in the book, it explains why Delacriox is on death row, when you see how Del dies, it's poetic justice.........

Do you know why Delacroix was on The Green Mile? Read the book and then you'll understand why I said it was 'POETIC justice', not 'justice'.
BTW, calm yourself down a bit, he's a fictional character in a book.
You'll be whinging about the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz melting next.
