Inflated costs are because insurence companies dont haggle over cost and dont stop unessesary test. The main problem in the USA with equality of opportunity concerns education and inheritance. To create equality of education, I think there are two, completely different choices: (1) The US federal government takes over education and makes sure that every school is exactly the same in terms of funding, teacher quality, facilities, etc. (2) Public schools are abolished, and the US federal government makes sure every child has the same dollar amount to spend on private education using vouchers.
Gov'ts have a value in a baseline level of education for their citizens. Makes them more marketable to the capitalists who need them to run their organizations. All schools shouldn't be the same, but there should be a standard. Schools of distinction will define themselves through price as they should. Take a look at the infrastructure of the Baltimore schools you mentioned (where kids don't have pencils and paper) and compare resources schools in the surrounding suburbs.

If income tax is eliminated, there's a thing called the Fair Tax, where it's a national sales tax. I think this would also eliminate payroll taxes, which are used to pay into Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. All three of those programs are going broke b/c of the out of control spending of the US Government.
Why is a flat tax disproportionate? If Joe earns $100K and Rick earns $50K, at 15% Joe pays $15K and Rick pays $7.5K. But does Joe really consume double the services? Probably Rick consumes more, because Joe pays for private security and sends his children to private schools.
If I buy an apple, do I have to pay double because I earn double? People should pay for the services they need. I don't drive a car, so my taxes shouldn't go to the roads. Let that be folded into the tax on petrol.
Your argument only holds if government only provides $22.5K worth of services in the example, which isn't realistic. Again, there are commonweal services that the gov't provides. And Joe still consumes. Agreed = if you buy an apple, it's price shouldn't depend on what you make. But, please: If you don't drive a car, how do you get places? Autobus? A tram? Aren't these conveyed on public infrastructure? Mustn't a driver, track maintenance, security exist for these things?
What the US government needs to do is what any responsible person need to do: (1) Balance the budget; (2) Take care of just the the basics first. ("It's the economy, stupid!")

To prevent banks from taking high risks in the future, bankers need to know that we cannot have a system in which losses are nationalised and gains are privatised. The problem is that some of these banks and insurance companies are so big, the US government fears a collapse of the entire financial system. So they let the smaller ones fail, like Barings and Lehman, and save the larger ones. It's an imperfect solution.
Whether US taxpayers are paying for the bail-out depends on how the bail-out is handled. If the US taxpayers get equity positions in the banks and insurance companies they bail-out and those banks and insurance companies can recover, the US taxpayers could actually make money on this. Soros made money in Korea after the IMF bail-out along the same principles. But if the bad debt is simply shifted to the taxpayers without the banks' accountability, that's extremely bad.
Obama wants to raise corporate taxes, but if you consider the EU, the country with the lowest corporate tax, Ireland, has the highest growth rate and lowest unemployment. 11% in Ireland. 25% in the USA. And we need to raise taxes?

I finally got to see a hematologist, the first thing the doctor said,"We'll treat you, but were not going to find out the reason.Translate that into we going to spend the least amont of dollars on you.Great,I was treated with Prednisone over a two year course,with Danocrine that put me into menupause.I had to initiate the infectious disease people to take a sample of my bld,send it to Walter Reed Hosp, to the head of infectious disease.To be checked for Lesishmanisis.Thankfully it was negative!

The Spanish colonized California, Florida, Texas (Hence States with Spanish names) and many western/ south western states. They were there first. The English started w/ new england. yep it was about 2-3 centuries later, after Britain developed the concept of a national bank and a national Debt, that it very rapidly went from a backwater of Europe to THE Trading superpower. Inflated costs are because insurence companies dont haggle over cost and dont stop unessesary test. The main problem in the USA with equality of opportunity concerns education and inheritance. To create equality of education, I think there are two, completely different choices: (1) The US federal government takes over education and makes sure that every school is exactly the same in terms of funding, teacher quality, facilities, etc. (2) Public schools are abolished, and the US federal government makes sure every child has the same dollar amount to spend on private education using vouchers.

Gov'ts have a value in a baseline level of education for their citizens. Makes them more marketable to the capitalists who need them to run their organizations. All schools shouldn't be the same, but there should be a standard. Schools of distinction will define themselves through price as they should. Take a look at the infrastructure of the Baltimore schools you mentioned (where kids don't have pencils and paper) and compare resources schools in the surrounding suburbs.

However, if you mean people in Darfur or Bangladesh have genetic material that, when realised under ideal conditions, would result in intelligence equal to East Asians under the same conditions, that has not been determined scientifically. Such an experiment would be ethically problematic.

If income tax is eliminated, there's a thing called the Fair Tax, where it's a national sales tax. Why is a flat tax disproportionate? If Joe earns $100K and Rick earns $50K, at 15% Joe pays $15K and Rick pays $7.5K. But does Joe really consume double the services? Probably Rick consumes more, because Joe pays for private security and sends his children to private schools.
If I buy an apple, do I have to pay double because I earn double? People should pay for the services they need. I don't drive a car, so my taxes shouldn't go to the roads. Let that be folded into the tax on petrol.

I don't know what you mean by "rich." When you start a company, you can use other people's money. I started three venture companies with colleagues without using a penny of my own money.
My godson who went to an Ivy league university went there with virtually no money from his parents--they were hospitalised for part of that time. If your parents cannot afford to pay for an Ivy league education, you can still go. They offer great financial aid. He got about $200K over four years.

You seem to think that I am in favour of the bail-out. To prevent banks from taking high risks in the future, bankers need to know that we cannot have a system in which losses are nationalised and gains are privatised. The problem is that some of these banks and insurance companies are so big, the US government fears a collapse of the entire financial system. So they let the smaller ones fail, like Barings and Lehman, and save the larger ones. It's an imperfect solution.

Whether US taxpayers are paying for the bail-out depends on how the bail-out is handled. If the US taxpayers get equity positions in the banks and insurance companies they bail-out and those banks and insurance companies can recover, the US taxpayers could actually make money on this. Soros made money in Korea after the IMF bail-out along the same principles. But if the bad debt is simply shifted to the taxpayers without the banks' accountability, that's extremely bad.

I,m black and The host to the rights comment about why he liked the commercial kinda comes off as a closet racist, Obama doesn't need to appeal to black people in a sense, at this point in the race, that's why they aren't in the commercial not because he`s black and doesnt need it but because he is going after white independents. Now whats Mccain`s excuse for not having African Americans in his commercials?
