@tnt420tnt Sorry but that's wrong. Yngwie didn't popularize any style of playing except his own. What you call "neo-classical" (which doesn't even make sense technically) is a style of playing that HE CAME UP WITH. He was the one who actually took baroque music and incorporated it into his electric guitar playing. Stump and the million other Yngwie CLONES(mostly Japanese teenagers) are just ripping off of HIM. Oh and the rest of your comment made even less sense, so that's all for now.

Ya know why? to make the rest of us who know better crazy! Do we go up to them and say hey Slash sounds just like BB King because they both play blues? Good grief already, Shut the F_ck up!
everyone thinks he copies malmsteen not because he plays the same style, because he sounds exactly the same.and saying "That's like saying Iron Maiden is the same as Slayer because they both have "Metal" in the genre. " makes no sense at all,for gods sake do they sound the same?

The difference is that Yngwie owns ferraris and this guy probably used a japanese cheap sport car. A copy in all senses...
I would take this guy more seriously if he didn't try to look like malmsteen (mannerisms/jewelerly/identical hand gestures). He's a good player, but he needs his own identity, which currently, he does not have.
I don't call him a copy because he plays neoclassical guitar. I call him a copy because he dresses like Malmsteen, has the same haircut, same sunglasses, same ' blingbling', almost the exact same guitar in the exact same color with the exact same pickups. In my eyes, too similar. It's never good almost look exactly like someone in the music world cause people will instantly think 'Malmsteen wannabe' , no matter how good you are. It's just the way it goes
Exactly man.The fact that he copys Malmsteen is too obvious.I have no problem that he is a neoclassical guitarist but he is the difinition of Malmsteen copy.
yes, yngwie copied blackmore in a way.., but each one has its own style and thats the only thing that matters. stump is a great player but hes not innovative at all, just another yngwie wanna-be

@metalshredder69 I have to agree with you. Everyone thinks he copies malmsteen just because he plays neoclassical metal. That's like saying Iron Maiden is the same as Slayer because they both have "Metal" in the genre.
@mydog2134 btw this isnt an yngwie comp or a joe stumo song. its an actual classical piece. fyi. so anyone playing any classical piece on an electric would sound like yngwie? no. they sound like bach, bethoven, or chopin or any other classical, romantic composer etc.
@mydog2134 btw this isnt an yngwie comp or a joe stumo song. its an actual piece by paganini with some tweaks. fyi. so anyone playing any classical piece on an electric would sound like yngwie? no. they sound like bach, bethoven, or chopin or any other classical, romantic composer etc.
@metalshredder69 too bad this comment is a year old, but i agree. its obviously just because Yngwie is the one of the only names that comes to mind when people think about neoclassical. so they hear neo and they are like "OH YNGWIE COPY" you never come across people bitching about how other guitarists sound like randy, or zack, or hendrix. i think thats just cause there are so many big names in metal, though.
Eh, he has even copied the sound of Yngwie...Those old marshall heads? That semi-distorted tone? The cream white strat style guitar? You are joking right?
@metalshredder69 , firepigg37, learn to play by ear... really rewarding in the end... i'd feel like a failier if i were to take any type of lesson/tableture readings in the past 15yrs. By the way, any and every technique has been completed (pythagoris)... check and mate. nice video though.
I like Joes playing. But, to claim he is not copying Yngwie is a stretch. I mean cream white strat style guitar? The slightly Baroque dress? The marshalls? The tone? And of course the actual playing is very Yngwie-like..He is very much a Yngwie clone, but that is not a bad thing in my book. Its weird how people always get upset upon hearing "yngwie-copy". I mean, Yngwie is a living legend. A blues player would be proud of being labelled a clone of Robert Johnson for example.
@Chris741113 You're almost on the money but its def not good to be an Yngwie clone. One of the things that makes Yngwie what he is, is the he is def one of the most original guitarist in the world. Not only that, but if some guy came out singing like Michael Jackson with the same clothes, glove, and moonwalk, I'm pretty sure most people would think he's a joke.
@metalshredder69 well since most people can't understand that WRITTING a song and PLAYING a song are 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things... can't say much.... most of them can't also understand the "genre" thingy you said but first of all... playing a musical instrument no matter what is called ISN'T a fcking race... that you're trying to win.... thumbs up
@metalshredder69 Sorry bro but you're just SO WRONG it's sad. What exactly would you say if some guy came out and sang exactly like Michael Jackson... but not only that, he wore the same glove and shoes and even did the moonwalk. Would you say he is just the same style as Michale Jackson??? I think not.

@2nickie2: Oh burn. You got me, I'm a giant dohnut eating douche who is incapable of buying jewelery as it won't fit on my massive flabby body. I can't even touch guitars cause my horrible sausage fingers break them lol.
Grow up.
I agree that both Yngwie and Joe are superior GUITAR players, dunno about people.
The point of my comment was to point out that while it seems Joe is copying Yngwie a bit he will never be that much of an asshole.
Yeah,, he obviously was motivated by Yngwie.. but he has his own style too. Bottom line,,, clone or not Stump is a kick ass guitar player. Give credit where its due people!!!
HAHA! Everyone knows Joe just wants more than anything in the world to be Yngwie! He's an amazing player, no doubt, but get your own fucking material man! It's just embarrassing for him if it is anything, sadly.
get your own style you yingwee rip off! LOL! its funny as hell how people try to justify that he doesnt copy yingwee LMAO! i mean common... how fucking obviouse is it does he have to change his fucking name for people to see it ...
i have heard of it you retard, i know speed metal messiah, and speed isnt music, he just sounds like crap, no feeling, yngwie is much better , like how fucking dumb are you, you little shit.
No he isnt. Schekner, blackmore, uli john roth, randy rhoads, and theres a few more who i dont know and cant mention. Maybe steve moorse? Anyway the guitarists ive just mention they constitute as the god father of the neo classical style. What you just said is a really huge common misconception. Really huge ... everyone and there father who doesnt know shit thinks that way. But trust me when i say thats not how it is. I thought that yngwie pioneered the genre before but he only made it popular
Michael romeo you are right about. Hes the only ONE of two that you mentioned that has the ability to go up against stump. If anything romeo has him beat maybe. But youre a noob if you think youre gonna bring yngwie into the convo and say he actually stands a chance against anyone. Yngwie has been washed up for a while go watch a recent yngwie vid hes done. Michael romeo on the other hand is a UNBELIEVABLE monster. BTW Joe stump is a good guitarists and teacher. So Stop blowing yngwies horn
Joe Stump is a very talented and excellent player....however he is not at Yngwie's level and I wish he would not be such a copiest...additionally, malmsteen pretty much invented neo-classical shred and is the most accomplished in the style because he composes musical sounding pieces..
@jasaggio actually, MUSICALLY jason becker was way better, but malmsteen is faster... why compare em anyway? all neoclassical shredders rock the socks off of everyone else anyway xD
@jasaggio that is so true i mean cmon if u dont wanna be a yingwie rip off putin some more creativity and your own style but dam this stuff is almost identical to yingwei
well this guy is a teacher so he teaches other people a guitar style, he uses licks to inspire you. Offcourse it sounds like malmsteen. You can't make a dvd of neo-classical metal wihtout malmsteen licks/songs
he's more metal- listen to the solo in speed metal symphony- its not very neoclassical- more rock/metal style- its better than the sounds yngwie makes when he flails on his guitar
omg, why are you retards saying if one guitarist comes before the others, they're the copies of him? oh so no new guitarists can be appreciated as original now? they're all copy of whoever that's famous? I wanna ask you, wtf is wrong with getting inspiration from others n tweak it in your own ways. that's part of improving.
I dont have a right to shit talk Joe Stump, cause he does have solid chops. But seriously, he tries to look like/play like/sound like Yngwie so much that he may as well change his name to Yngwie Chump.
@Splintercell256 Thats true! But Yngwie is 1 000 000 times better!

@metalshredder69 too bad this comment is a year old, but i agree. its obviously just because Yngwie is the one of the only names that comes to mind when people think about neoclassical. so they hear neo and they are like "OH YNGWIE COPY" you never come across people bitching about how other guitarists sound like randy, or zack, or hendrix. i think thats just cause there are so many big names in metal, though.
matineesuxxx 11 months ago
@metalshredder69

@metalshredder69
Chris741113 7 months ago
@Chris741113 You're almost on the money but its def not good to be an Yngwie clone. One of the things that makes Yngwie what he is, is the he is def one of the most original guitarist in the world. Not only that, but if some guy came out singing like Michael Jackson with the same clothes, glove, and moonwalk, I'm pretty sure most people would think he's a joke.
WildBillJP 5 months ago
@metalshredder69 well since most people can't understand that WRITTING a song and PLAYING a song are 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things... can't say much.... most of them can't also understand the "genre" thingy you said but first of all... playing a musical instrument no matter what is called ISN'T a fcking race... that you're trying to win.... thumbs up
mohokios 7 months ago
@metalshredder69 Sorry bro but you're just SO WRONG it's sad. What exactly would you say if some guy came out and sang exactly like Michael Jackson... but not only that, he wore the same glove and shoes and even did the moonwalk. Would you say he is just the same style as Michale Jackson??? I think not.

Being Yngwie:
Step 1. Learn to shred - check
Step 2. Get a cream white strat or strat copy - check
Step 3. Buy rings and bracelets - check
Step 4. Eat lots of dohnuts and be a giant douche - .......
You've still got some way to go yet Joe.

Being FXJunkieH80:
Step 1. suck a fat dick check
Step 2. talk shit about superior people check
Step 3. Wish that you had rings and bracelets and shred. check
Step 4. Sit on your fatass and eat donuts and talk shit about people who eat donuts. check

And Yngwie is a tubby douchebag. Truth.
FXJunkieH80 2 years ago
btw, yngwie cant even do these arpeggios like joe can, all yngwie does is A minor arpeggios LOL.
mosesposes 2 years ago
dont even know how this is like yngwie, yngwie dosent even play any song that sounds even close to this one.

I've been listening to a lot of Yngwie lately...
I WANT A CREAM WHITE STRAT!!!
necrotelicomnicon 2 years ago 2
Yeah,, he obviously was motivated by Yngwie.. but he has his own style too. Bottom line,,, clone or not Stump is a kick ass guitar player. Give credit where its due people!!!
wedge070 2 years ago
HAHA! Everyone knows Joe just wants more than anything in the world to be Yngwie! He's an amazing player, no doubt, but get your own fucking material man! It's just embarrassing for him if it is anything, sadly.
thetimeisnow666 2 years ago
If no Yngwie, no stump - what an absolute clone. He has the advantage of having everything laid out in front of him. Where's the innovation?

I love it. Great guitar player.

i have heard of it you retard, i know speed metal messiah, and speed isnt music, he just sounds like crap, no feeling, yngwie is much better , like how fucking dumb are you, you little shit.
AnthonyJohnArena 2 years ago
So what if he has an "Yngwie" sound, he should...Yngwie IS neo classical, the god father of that style of guitar
montanaholbrook16 2 years ago
I thought that yngwie pioneered the genre before but he only made it popular
reaperofgenocide 2 years ago
Very well put reaper, thumbs up for the enlightenment.
montanaholbrook16 2 years ago
Thanks.
reaperofgenocide 2 years ago
Michael romeo you are right about. Hes the only ONE of two that you mentioned that has the ability to go up against stump. If anything romeo has him beat maybe. But youre a noob if you think youre gonna bring yngwie into the convo and say he actually stands a chance against anyone. Yngwie has been washed up for a while go watch a recent yngwie vid hes done. Michael romeo on the other hand is a UNBELIEVABLE monster. BTW Joe stump is a good guitarists and teacher. So Stop blowing yngwies horn

este man es la misma vaina q malmsteen no son originales
elmonovillarreal 2 years ago
Joe Stump is a very talented and excellent player....however he is not at Yngwie's level and I wish he would not be such a copiest...additionally, malmsteen pretty much invented neo-classical shred and is the most accomplished in the style because he composes musical sounding pieces..
jasaggio 2 years ago 16
@jasaggio Didn't people like Uli and Blackmore more invent the neo-classical shred "genre"... Though Yngwie did take it up some notches..
bvried 1 year ago
@jasaggio actually, MUSICALLY jason becker was way better, but malmsteen is faster... why compare em anyway? all neoclassical shredders rock the socks off of everyone else anyway xD
GimmeAFuckinSandwich 1 year ago

I wanna ask you, wtf is wrong with getting inspiration from others n tweak it in your own ways. that's part of improving.
sean6201 3 years ago
very well put. so what about all of those blues guitarists? arent they copies then? people dont really think about that
BigAZChicken 2 years ago
arent they copies of what? sry I didn't really catch what you meant there

STOP COMPARING Joe with Yngwie!
What if Yngwie came to the scene first? what does that matter?
They both are excellent! And personnally i prefer Joe Stump's compositions and extensive arpeggios,
but that's just a matter of taste.
