The TGX only have 2 seats, no loadspace, is theoretically mid-engined, and rear-wheel drive.. So, esentially it is a MR2, a very large MR2... I would much rather have the G wagon, than a upsized MR2... It has seating for 7, loadspace, and proper 4wd, goes faster than the big MR2, and looks way better. And, it is made by Mercedes Benz, so it will be around to see the end of the world a billion trillion years from now :-)
I really like the G wagon, in all it's different guises, but I just do not see the point in this useless comparisson. This is like comparing a Suzuki Hyabusa 1300 to a Yamaha Big Bear 4wd quadbike. WTF?

This is not a real TV-program, it's a commercial to advertise a truck which never brought anything but a very short-lived hp-advantage over it's otherwise superior competition. The advertised performance was so full of it that it didn't even make it to the printed prospects. On top of it all, MAN were the ones left behind to turn out the light in Euro 4 land.
@ulvenstein true, the ZF transmission couldnt take more torque, so they could only give it some extra in the higher rpm region... Where an engine this powerful has no business at all, with just 44 ton GCVW...
@RenzeZielman Yes, and in fact so high that the torque has begun it's precipitous decent into the 1980's. Amusingly, it isn't able to pull much more either, not even the 90t lumber trucks in Sweden, let alone the 300 ton backhoes and mining trucks which actually make sense to pull with a super truck.
