Um, I'm going to argue that some Audi's are in fact built to go fast: the entire S/RS division to be precise. The stock S4 internals can handle well over 500 HP without issue and the block and transmission can take close to 900 without modification.

Some of the new GT turbo setups are putting out 900+ HP (and that's in a car that can handle to the level of Audi's famed "Unfair Advantage"). 411 dragway is only a 8th mile track...you cant get up to fast speeds like a quarter so 80s are actually pretty good for a car ...i ran my s10 xtreme bone stock..(v6 vortech) and was running 10.1 at 72....thought that was pretty good for being bone stock....it would probably run low 9s nowill find out this summer

hmm... well,.. the S4 missed 3rd gear the first time and 2nd gear the second time.
but given the conditions (95 degrees),.. i'd say the vette had the advantage over the S4 turbos.
we'll see what happens this winter at the rematch :)
i predict a half second differential in favor of the S4 :)
