@ht448 NO musician is supposed to use scales, that is not how you make music/solos and especially not without a harmonic backing that would anyhow force you to use certain notes. Music is not this or that, scales and stuff are just theory and words that help you to understand the language of music. Making music is something different then just play scales. But I get the point about what you mean ^^ and this vid is a really good example of bad musicality, he just unpractised but still ^^

if you want a good solo you need:

-hand technique[you need for yourrrself, so your hand wont fell off because of the pain]

-to know some scales

-and, so you dont just play the scales all over the neck (thats booring), you shold know how to do a trick or lick ... try some of these!
