That happens sometimes when the download goes wrong. If you don't download it all in one sitting, try pausing the download before shutting down the PS3.
I actually just platinumed my first game which is Assassin's Creed 2. I'm so proud of myself. On that topic though, I did use a game guide to find all of those fucking feathers scattered around the game. There is no shame in doing that.
When I get stuck in a game, first, I usally try to find out myself, where it goes on. I look at several spots where it could go on and go back to see if I missed something. If nothing works, why should I be ashamed of using a guide? I would find it more embarassing if someone, who gets stuck in a game just stops playing it, cause he would look like a n00b if he used a guide. Seriously who would do that?
According to the rules "Get your entry in early, as I can't get you in the contest after I film. To be safe, answer by Sunday (November 29th) night." and "Say somewhere in your comment to the question, that you want to be in the contest.".
Obviously it depends, I always persevere to complete a game with out a guide. However, if I'm completely mind boggled I will use an official strategy guide. Finally if that dosen't I will use game faqs and i don't feel ashamed because being stuck is really Frustrating.
I think that guides are good but only if you really stuck. I use guides for mostly the posters but for something like Assassin's Creed flags, I'm definitely going to use it.
i will only go to the internet for help when i'm really stuck. i have never used one to get through a campain but i have on extras, for example getting some of those impossible trophies or in modern warfare 2 on the second last spec op, i dont see why people think its a bad thing to do as if you are completly stuck on a game and are ashamed to go to a game guide you might stop playing that game. Contest
Yes, I would be ashamed for using a gaming guide. I would be ashamed because video games are supposed to help your critical thinking skills and crap, and by using a game guide you don't really get anything out of the game. Plus, walkthrough guides usally cost money. (Unless you're using an online guide).
well i don't buy them i have 1 but yer anyway i have used them before but not like this. oh theres 50 guys round that corner look in a vent to get a super gun!!!. i do stuff its kinda embarrassing but like in uncharted 1 and 2 there was this bit were you had to get a book from a plane you had to climb a rope it took me about an hour till i looked on youtube then the same thing on u2. so its cool as long as its like that. -contest!!!!!!
i keep trying on a game until I'm COMPLETELY stuck or just really annoyed or angry at the game, but eventually I will look it up on the internet but I won't buy a guide because I'm just too cheap. contest!
well if i get stuck i try again i dont really play it 15 times to platinum it i go through so i dont use guides for games if i do get so stuck though i go on youtube because there are so many playthroughs
I've only used actual gaming guides a few times, those mostly being Final Fantasy's and GTA games, but I do often go on online gaming guides like GameFaqs if I am stuck out my mind on a game, like recently, I was stuck in Uncharted 2(mostly because it was on Crushing difficulty) so I checked out NextGenWalthrough's for some help(didn't give much help though) No, I'm not really ashamed to use a gaming guide because being stuck for ages can seriously lower your enjoyment of a game.
if i was stuck on the same level for ages then i would probably check online to see how to get past the level .. but normally i try to complete the level without any help . -Contest
i have used gaming guides once or twice if i am really stuck and getting frustrated. but i will only do that after trying and trying and failing so many times that it almost feels imoposible i feel it take some experiance out of the game and i dnt know what it iz i just dont like useing them or useing tips from websites.
I never use gaming guides,I usually ask my friends to help me out after all 5-10 heads are better than one:)!,So I guess I'm not ashamed to ask for help.
i usualy dont care if i buya guide or not... i usually go on youtube and see if the awesome frostfox has run into the same problem. If i get stuck, i just go on youtube or ask a friend if they beat that part of the game. I also want to be in the contest.
It depends for me. Sometimes, when I have been trying to find a door that I need to go into or a switch that I need to pull for 2 hours, I go look at guides. I also look at them for things like the blast shards in inFamous. Other then that, not really.
I've been buying guides with my games ever since the PS1 days. For almost every game I own I have a guide. When I got "WET" for the PS3 I asked the sales clerk if they sold the guide. She told me there isn't a guide for "WET". I looked online for a guide, no guide. I seriously considered not buying the game because I could not find a guide for it.
I use the guide when I'm stuck on a puzzle and can't figure it out and to look for treasures I didn't find on the 1st play through. I have no guilt.
It depends. I do not use them on things that I'm just too lazy to achieve. No no, I use them on sequences that I have completely no idea how to go through or finish. That's pretty much it. Oh, and also for some really sick trophies *looking at Late Boomer in SSHD*.
Lets see would I be ashamed using a game guide. Let me think abNOOO!!! If Im stuck like on an rpg game or Im looking for special items like with treasures on Uncharted 2 I wont even question doing it ill be like hell yea. Yes I have no sham deal with it. Sadly I already got a beta key and its fun if you ask me.
The thing is that gaming varies very much from the region you live in.
So pretty much the game you got on 20. November (yes I'm talking about ACII) i have to wait for several months for it to get here.
And during all that time i sometimes just cave under the anticipation and go look at the guide at ign just so i can get another dose of the game.
But on account of actually getting stuck in the game, so far that has almost never happened to me and if it does i call my gaming-expert/friend to help.
I sometimes use guides, usally on my first playthrough of a game, I just beat the story. A game like Uncharted 2, it has treasures you can collect, I find as many as I can by myself, and if I can't find the rest, I'll use a guide. I also use game playthroughs after I beat a game to see what other players do. I'd like to be in the contest.
i only use guides when i am trying to find secrets hidden in a game like the 200 pigions on gta as i think its impossible to find them all without i guide, i try not to use a guide to help me with like missions as i prefer to figure it out as you get more out of the game if you do it without help.
I prefer not to use guides because i feel like you dont get to fully experience the game! The only time i use guides is if i have tried over and over again to no avail! For example in Infamous i followed an echo into a park and was basically stuck there, after hours of running around i used a guide and released a boss was suppose to appear! So i basically had to turn the game on and do the mission again so it didnt glitch!
in that case thanks for nothing you jackass! Just kidding, i have a beta code for avatar demo i got free with assisins creed if you want it for a prize on your show?
Well, I'm not embarased but when it's an extremely easy part and I can't pass it... I'm embarased... E.G. I played HL2 and because of the unjustable brightness I couldn't pass it... That was embarasing.... CONTEST!!! I ENTER CONTEST!!!
Personally i like to get my trophies myself, only as a last resort will i use a guide to find out although i do think its a good idea to have them at hand just incase you have no idea what your doing
Well if im feeling REALLY stuck i always have the temptation to use it , but nowadays i always just go through teh game and the only time i use a guide is when im REALLY annoyed with the game. But sometimes even then i always give it a go. I've only EVER bought 2 strategy guides.
1. MW2 for the maps online for my planing and hiding spots.
2.WoW Wrath of the Litch King cus that was another thing big when i did play WoW, i quit now.
Well, first hand experience... I used a guide for zelda... *snivel
I was chuffed I completed it, but still, I didn't get the excitement and thrill of beating the puzzles, and being wowed by things you find by accident, which happen to make you move forward in the game. I have regret... not shame.
No shame for games which don't have puzzles. Now, I'm going to point out things like UC here. I played it all the way through. No guide. I became a trophy whore. So, I cheated for all the collectibles!
I have never used a gaming guide EVER for any game, for two reasons, 1, they cost quite a bit of money which i would rather spend on a game & once i ve used it i wont need it again!
2, if i ever do get stuck i just look at walkthroughs on youtube!
I do however use trophy guides on trophies such as rockhound (infamous) which are near impossible to get without help!
Back in the old days when PS2 was popular, and the current gen consoles weren't around, I use to use gaming guides if I was stuck. Now, I rarely do. If I get stuck these days, I normally just sit there and try to figure it out, or I get off that game, and go play another. As for the question, I do feel ashamed when using guides, I'd rather just figure it out myself, and have the gratification of figuring it out.
Not at all, maybe if its something really simple and I just can't be arsed :P
But i always use trophy walkthroughs and they are there to help. To be honest, on a trophy like 'Find 350 blast shards' If you do that without using a walkthrough, you're too hardcore and maybe need to get a life.
