You dont have to be a genius. It just looks fucking awesome to people that dont know how to solve them, because it appears as if the person doing it is super smart, but really its just a matter of less than 10 combination of twist and doing them in the right order, at the right time, etc.

Fact of the matter is that those things are not as easy to solve unless set up with a certain number of steps prior to solving. :)

Most people (who don't solve it) pick it up and figure they're going to see a pattern or solution intuitively. In reality, you've got to use paper, and figure out moves that make planned changes. Once you've recorded how to move each piece or group of pieces to a specific spot, you can solve the cube... Then you work on memorizing your paperwork. You also have to be painfully obsessive.
