hi, I wanto to know if this pianos load into the ram or play directly from the Hard drive. Because I see Synthogy recommends a 7200 rpm hard drive. can you clarify this ? how big are these pianos when loaded for playing.
@MrCrgl Hi, I don't believe the Synthogy pianos load into memory but rather some sort of direct disk play. I believe similar to what the galaxy pianos use in Kontakt. I could be completely wrong though. I have 4 gig of ram and a 7200 rpm drive - no problems with Synthogy loading.
@MrCrgl I would go to their websites just to clarify the Ram/Disk question. One of the main ingredients also is to use a low-level asio sound card and asio drivers to achieve no noticeable latency issues. You can use Asio for all which is a "universal" asio driver that can be used on most soundcards.
@Un1234l You need to use a low level asio driver to minimize latency. If you are using a generic sound card that doesn't ship with asio drivers, usually you can get away with a driver set called asio4all.
For this I actually used my on-board sound card, which I believe is just a sigmatel audio chip. I used the asio4all driver. Using the on board sound card and asio4all I had about 10ms of latency - which to my ears isn't really noticeable. You could probably achieve less latency with a good card and its own dedicated asio drivers. Asio drivers bypass the windows sound system so you can have direct access to your sound card. Thanks
I recommend highly. It actually took me some time to get used to the Italian Grand - but once I got used to it, I have a hard time going back to the Ivory Steinway.

@bostonmoores playing direct from disk ?? can that be more efficient than playing from ram ?? any latency issues ??

After all the hype, I'm surprisingly underwhelmed by the sound of this piano. Maybe it's just the recording/music/performance.

Hey, I'm wondering what you would have to do in order to minimize the delay between the key being pressed to the sound being outputted.

@bostonmoores Thanks for the reply.
I'm wondering how the latency is for you? Noticeable? What sound card are you using? and why a low-level ASIO driver?

@bostonmoores I was going to wonder why having ASIA4all would make a difference.
Thanks a lot mate.
