All of you people who are saying WWE trashed DDP ur wrong Page brought the gimmick to the creative team bc at the time he was inspired by a motivaltional speaker and he liked the idea so he went with it and then when he and Bob holly had a match he was injured and chose to leave wrestling and go on to do tht yoga shit and being a motivational speaker again
he brought the motivational speaker gimmick up because it was a huge step up from being perv stalking the Undertaker's wife. Rather than use WCW stars and make money, Vince decided to make WCW stars look like garbage.
@darkoutlaw1 uh nah he wouldnt own, he was great for his time but that's the problem with TNA, too many waaay over the hill wrestlers in their fucking 50s and up wrestling, and doing the same fucking story lines it gonna be the death of Terrible No Action wrestling sorry to break ur happy bubble
It was a perfect intro, and up till then he was used great, as at that point he was only doing it to get takers attention. It was AFTER that, when things became suck.
Yeahh Menn DDP in the WCW was the best. Vince's revenge on WCW wrestlers really paid off for him. That's why I like Sting not enjoying the WWE. Because he knows about Vince.
@Wrestlelesson this is true, but also he didnt have to let himself be turned into that crap either it happen cuz he wanted the paycheck and spotlight, as u say Sting didnt cuz he's smarter than that
@DimebagVision its not that hard to figure out. DDP was a big draw....in WCW. Since McMahon didn't make him, he had to bury him. Some guys like Booker T, who were buried upon their arrival managed to make it up to the top of the ladder eventually in WWF/E, but Page's age too advanced and the injuries too great for him to overcome.
@DimebagVision i didn't mind his opening act in the WWE. After the taker/sarah feud is when WWE took DDP into the shitters. IMO. WWE did a poor job with using WCW stars.
you are correct... they could have easily done the peoples champion vs the peoples champion feud and gotten him over... but they instead choose to bring him in as a heel and ruin his career.
It's because Vince didn't really want any WCW talent to succeed. The only WCW talent that succeeded were the ones who crossed over during the Monday Night Wars. Those who were out of a job and had to go to the WWF were pretty much ruined (with the exception of Rey Mysterio). DDP was a big WCW star, so they decided to make him look like nothing but a powerless fool on WWF tv.
Orton's RKO is nothin compaired to the master of the diamond cutter. Orton has only hit the RKO two ways and DDP has already done that and then some. I would of luv'd to see Orton take on DDP in his prime just so Orton could feel the BANG!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i liked ddp, but having a blatant copy of smells like teen spirit and saying 'toooo cool!!!' over the top is probably a bad idea. its kind of embarrasing in a dad at a wedding kind of way
@angelus4282 woa, woa, ddp was awesome, but u cant disqualify the rock as the people's champ or even forget him, if it wasnt for him and astin wwe/f wouldnt have been the power house they are now.
@MCJay2daSun "Forget" is too strong a word, I admit. And, hey, I liked the Rock and Stone Cold, too. I hope and pray that the WWE will one day find another one of their caliber to replace the likes of John Cena. But I guess the real point I was driving at was that WCW was referring to DDP as the "People's Champ" during a time when Dwayne Johnson was still portraying himself on-screen as the heel character Rocky Maivia.
No if it wasn't just for Austin the WWF would've died. Rock was still evolving his heel character more and more into our hearts, nothing more. He wasn't and will never be as popular as Undertaker or Austin. The rock was just a mid-carder for matches Austin didn't do nothing more.
@tonshaad1230 @ HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *TAKES BREATH* AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA HE SAID MID-LEVEL CHARACTER BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA. yeeeeeaaaahh ooooookaaaay.

@mjonlyfan That is because all the top stars didn't want to come. When the biggest star is Booker T, there is something wrong.
