  • Thank you for posting. I'm the little girl in the blue dress and red turtleneck with the pony tails. It's amazing to be able to show to my kids. Thanks.

  • I appeared on the New York show in 1971.

  • What does Van Halen have to do with this clip? They didn't even exist in 1971.

  • Excellent show! I remember her saying my name in the mirror on my birthday

  • Did you see that?! The teacher had a hand over her heart and the class gave allegence to the USA. That's too American, today. it offends people. AND all the girls had dresses on; that's sexism and 'gender engineering', that's illegal today. And did you notice any non-whites? that's racism today. WOW, what a terrible show! I think I will sue because they created values in me that don't exist today and I am woefully unprepared. Where was Lady Gagme in 71?

  • @rezek71 - just enjoy the nostalgia and shut the $%#& up with your ass-clown whining already.

  • @rezek71 Yes, we've come a long way, haven't we?

  • Oh calm down and stop being brainwashed by Bill O Reilly. Schools still say the pledge, little girls still love wearing pretty dresses, and I'm sure you can find a preschool for your kids without those pesky non-white kids if you pay a premium! ;)

  • Ahh, Romper Room. We had this show in Australia- with Aussie children. How I miss it. I was ever so sad I never got to be on the show.

  • so much better than kids on prescription uptake inhibitors etc... we were blessed with the pee-wee morning show called 'ROMPER ROOM' with it's magic mirror song and more.. in my toddler years, actually was delusionally convinced that at some point I would appear on an episode... ;8 how's this for a 'kick in the pant's' generational communal youTube flashback.. everyone that recalls 'romper room'... celebrate with a comment

  • Still waiting to be seen in the freakin magic mirror! :(

  • Booooooo! WMG

  • does anyone remember Miss Jean from the Boston Romper Room show?

  • @sanjose528

I remember her....anyone have a video of that?

  • WOW! Check out those white panties at the 4:15 mark...when the little girls were crawling, their white panties tend to show off by accident.

  • when people were decent..

  • thanks for the flashback!!!

  • i was 3 when this was on channel 2 back in Baltimore

  • Seeing her switch the magic mirror kind of ruins for me.

  • love this. I remember Romper room then. I was little but I remember. I miss the 1970's. The clothes are so much better and colourful, women were prettier then, people were people and were very politically aware and conscious. No cell phones, no computers (there were but not like today),people treated others kindly in general.

  • This was when I used to watch it.

Damn bitch never called my name but once!

  • Comment removed

  • look at 0:09.WTAF TV 29(WTXF fox 29) if you in the philly area.where romper room played in 1971.i bet those children are now parents and grandparents today.this is 40 years ago.i was in the first grade in georgia in 1971.a year after blacks and whites intergraded in school.(deep south at the time was segegated afterwards)

  • @raymondclark32 native american chippewa, navejo, blackfoot. ogalala sioux, cherokee, hopi, ute, apache, tarasco, mohawk, crow and a host of others are still segregated. We now have an african american president. Thank You for posting this, I remember the show. mrs. mary ann king was one host that I clearly recall. California.

  • A person could buy a brand new Rambler for $2,000 or so then!

  • My sis was on it in 1972 Atlanta GA, I would love to see it , if anyone out there has it!!

  • I wasn't there but if this aired on WOR-TV 9 in NY, I was surely tuned in.

  • Does anybody know where Leonardo is?

  • Little Kids are always fun to watch even when one slight error is made

  • What a shame the sound is missing. Like it would have hurt anyone to leave it on.

  • this really brings back memories. why can't i find clips for the magic mirror bit from Romper Room hosted by this chick?

  • wow is all I can say that and does anybody know who hosted romper room in the 1970's in colorado springs?

  • Hmm.... If the participants were just a little older, this could be mistaken for a clip from "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon".

  • In Pittsburgh,Pa.we watched Romper Room on WTAE Ch.4 w/Miss Jane[not sure of last name].She died at the age of 26 on the afternoon of Dec.2,1969 supposedly of natural causes, tho I believe there was other reasons suspected.I believe she was on tv that morning as I think the show was live..It's sad since I had just watched her the week before on Thanksgiving vacation..I've tried to do an internet search on her,but came up w/nothing.Miss Jan[now also deceased]replaced.her.

  • 4 fks sake, whats the big deal!? how is it bothering anyone 2 use the audio?

    thnks 4 posting anyhow! :)

  • The old Romper Room videos were flying off the shelves until the evil YouTube came along!!!

    (sarcasm)

  • Clearly if the audio was left in pace this Romper Room segment would be a huge commercial hit, was hoping to here the DuuBee song, it's still classicaly charming.

  • Now now, we can't have anything like that for the kiddies...WMG won't allow it.

  • I had a punching ball and some Romper Stompers too. That baby is just so cute. Why can't they show Romper Room on TV now? I'll bet my five year old nephew would love it.

  • I was also on Romper room with my cousin in 1969 in Bangor Maine

what great memories this video brings back. the studio set looks exactly like the one I was on our teacher was Miss Nancy

  • What city was this taped in? I was on Romper Room in 1970 too: )

  • Ya something about those early 70's dress the teachers would wear that showed so much legs... and maybe some more if you were lucky that made being a little kid so special back than =) Easy to understand why VH's song is so appropriate for this!

  • Wait a minute! You mean she switched the mirror for one with a hole?!! I thought it was magic. Thanks for ruining my childhood man. :D

  • I think I am the little redhead girl in this video. I have nothing as cool as this to remember my two weeks on Romper Room. Any chance you would post without the soundtrack? Do you know where this one was filmed? Thanks for posting this!

  • @DustyZenaZX2 was filmed in jenkintown pa

  • My dad, Arthur (Roy), is the blonde boy in the shorts. This is so weird to watch!

  • ROMPER ROOM teachers were HOT!

  • Nice...I was 8 myself....Good times!!! But I think I was listening to "Mrs. Robinson" at the time!!

  • that was my dad, in the red checkerd pants

  • my mum was in romper room 1973 deena kent

  • Wow, this is great. I was the first African American to be flimed on roomper room (atleast that is what i have been told ) My show was flimed in Atlanta Sept 1971. Ms Lori was our host. I tried to find footage years ago. We wee told there was a fire that destroyed every thing up to 1981.

  • Please tell me your lying. My brother is also African American and was on the show in 73 or 74. I've been trying to get a hold of the video.

  • NICE!!!!!

  • Afraid you weren't the first black to be on the show by several years. I was scheduled to be on the Wichita, KS Romper Room way back in 1965 but I was sick that week.

  • It's a shame that they say only 1 or 2 episodes of romper room exsist one video, considering they was re-taping over every tape they used to save money. Lots of fond memories gone.

  • Oh.my.god. This cracks me up! Awesome!

  • I was on Romper Room when I was four, in 197o. It was done at the local studio in my home town in WI. The teacher was Ms. Sandy or Ms. Cindy. I can't remember her name but I remember a little bit about it. I also remember watching the show on tv and when they said my name on the magic mirror I thought the teacher could actually see me. LOL silly little kid I was.

  • God, this brings back memories! My mother was a Romper Room lady in Pittsburgh in the late 60's/early 70's and I used to be a substitute kid. Hysterical to use Van Halen!

  • Is Leonardo DiCaprio in this?

Because he was in Romper Room :D

  • We had Miss Mary Ann in Los Angeles.....

  • Definitely '71 as opposed to '61. The lady's dress is way too short for '61.

  • Where was this taped and are you sure it was 1971 and not 1961? Cause I think my dad is in this video!!

  • I so remember being upset that the "magic mirror" was a fake too! Huge disappointment! I was on Romper Room probably around 1971 or so in Harrisburg, PA - Miss Marcia.

  • Yeah, that was a big dissapointment! It was just a mirror frame with nothing in it! So traumatizing...

Like one of the other commenters I was on Romper Room at WJAC, Johnstown, PA. It must have been 74 or 75ish from how old those kids look. I remember them explaining that my mom could stay in the studio or off in a room to the side that we could see through and I remember being going several times that week. I had fun. Thanks for posting this!

  • guess he needs some excuse---i`m still chasin chicks on their hands and knees

  • Nice comment, too funny. You were a cute kid.I like the pony between your legs!!Nice memories, used to watch that show all the time when I was a little girl..

  • I was on Romper Room in Houston, KHOU-TV I think, in 1968. I remember being absolutely crushed when I discovered the "magic mirror" was a fake. Other than that, it was a blast. I'm sure they didn't keep the tapes of it back then, but I would sure love to see me at 6 years old!!

  • We had Miss Fran in Wichita, Kansas. She was hot!

  • I wasn't on the show, but I got to go to Miss Louise's Good-bye Party in Central Park, NYC. Sadly, I don't have the autographed postcard or DooBee plastic baggie hand puppet, but my mom took some great snapshots of me w/ Miss Louise!

  • I had Miss Sally. This was in Boston but I Think it was filmed in Maryland.

  • Whoops. I mean Scranton, Pa.

  • What town or tv station was this? I had Miss Jean in Scronton, Pa and was on in 1969. God, I'd love to see that.

  • Yay! I'm so excited to see this!!! I was on the original WJAC-Johnstown ROMPER ROOM with Miss Patti. Still have my "good Doo-Bee" certificate to prove it... do you?? LOL!

Most of the show tapes were tossed due to lack of storage at the stations. What a gem you have! I used to go to the station, tape in the AM and be able to watch it on TV later... that was so fun. One highlight: I brought my dog, Maggie (a beagle), on set for show-and-tell. Who didn't LOVE being seen in the magic mirror!!

  • That blew me away! Was that Miss Louise? I had forgotten all about that magic mirror schtick. I always wanted to be on the show. How did you get so lucky?

  • i got to meet miss louise at a wanamakers store in wilmington delaware when i was like 5 yrs old!!! i had forgotten this shit even exsisted!!! i loved miss louise!!! I GOT TO BE IN THE SHOW THAT DAY!

  • Ok we're sittin here gettin drunk - trying to think up the most obscure programs we watched as children and then betting $ on wether or not it made it to "YouTube" .......DAMN! lost this one.... OK! Dbl or nthin on HOBO KELLY!! no way! that nutbags gonna be here......Right!?

  • One TV secret is broken: You can see her switching mirrors while they were showing the psychedelic stuff on the screen.

Also - I've read about "Dark Side of the Moon" in sync with "Wizard of Oz", but "Hot for Teacher" and somebody's super-8 home movie?!?

  • lol--it just worked out that way??

  • come with us and gallop and gallop.....

  • yep---the good old days--lol

  • Cool, VERY COOL! music cool!

  • ty---it was pretty funny how that song just went right to it ---i didnt edit it or anything---it was just one of the clips i found of the romper room movie--and the song just went right with it
