  • COOL

  • also, some vehicles a few years older than 1996 may still have OBDII

  • great video, are there any more about diagnosis and testing ?

  • I am having trouble removing my old O2 sensor. Any tips?

  • @shad366 heat the pipe up with a torch in the area the sensor threads in. that's about all you can do. you'll probably break the old one coming out, so be warned of that

  • great video keep up the great work.

  • @925dude Thanks... more to come.

  • @ngksparkplugsusa can you explain to me why I replaced my 2000 cherokee xj with a set of your O2 sensors which is OEM equipment for my jeep and it is know saying my catalytic inverter is faulting after install, mind you i had no issue before I was just doin preventative maintnence of my 02 sensors with 149k on them.

  • @bigdog813 The new sensors are probably more sensitive than the older ones, and so they detect converter inefficiency sooner. You probably have a P0420 code, right? This code can trip even when the converter is working at 94% efficiency. Get yourself a bottle of CATACLEAN® and use it as per the directions on the bottle. That almost always works, and costs MUCH less than replacing the converter. The cleaner should be about $25. Converters can be up to $1,000.

  • @KrankieV2 I bought 2 bottles and have only used one so far, yes I used it at a 1/4 tank as directed and my light is still on I drove for atleast 42 miles. my converter cost 1300 without labor which is 4 bolts so I would do it myself. I have been thinking about the lacquer thinner method but its not O2 safe so i most likely will not do so.

  • Until watching this video, I was not aware that NTK was a NGK company, now I feel better about purchasing a replacement O2 sensor.

  • dam i wish mines was that easy to get to.

  • ok my 2000 alero is missing and we have replace coils ,coil housing spark plugs..the car runs fine until i come to a stop and you also can hear like a poot poot noise out of the tailpipe at my last straw help...

  • @drikadennis check fuel filter?

  • I seemed to miss the diagnosis simplified part?? Worthless video!!!

  • replaced my upstream o2 with a NTK one.... works like shit no voltage sparadic idle haha good product ..

  • is sensor 2 after the converter?

  • the O2 sensor in my 95 grand cherokee was fun to replace

  • With P0420 and P0430 codes its harder to track down. I replaced my catalytic as per mechanic (seemed legit, no?) and still have the 430 code. My next step is the "after cat" sensors.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance. Did you ever find out the cause for 430 code. My mechanic wants me to change my cat but i refuse to believe that my cat is bad....

  • @Cloud2fou5~ check out what scotty kilmer has to say about fault code 430 and how to clean up your cat.

  • @Cloud2fou5 A new cat assy, plus the affter cat sensors and new plugs (better burn) still triggered a code. The next culprit.......the brand of gas used! My cat was fried because of a "misfire" in the cat itself.

  • im not a certified tech but i do know one thin they forgot to mention. after a o2 sensor trouble code comes up and your check engine light comes on the ecu goes into a bypass loop mode. in order to correctly restore the ecu out of this loop mode you need to disconnect the ground from the battery to eliminate power to the computer to reboot it.

  • Who am I? A mechanic that has been doing this way too long. I am master ase certified with an enhanced smog license here in CA. I have been testing O2 sensors for about 20 years now.

Why don't you have me make a real test video or at least change the title of this one.

  • Oh shoot I get it. You just want to sell your product! Thats why this video is out there to mislead people. Having this title is very misleading. People will be fixed on it thinking that just by putting in a new sensor that it will cure all of their O2 sensor codes. Man, that's really shady. I really like Ngk too but this seems too low of a sales gimic.

  • You are going to screw up a lot of people out there with this video. You really didn't say how to diagnose the O2 sensor at all! There are a lot of codes for this sensor that people shotgun by installing the wrong part, in this case a new O2 sensor. Fuel pumps, ect, maf, vacuum leaks (or air leaks), and a slew of other things. How about the integrity of the wires? People...before changing a component for a code test it first. Propane is the true way to test an O2 sensor with a scope.

  • that car was out of gas

  • what problem does this fix? high rpm sputtering? and not idleing right??

  • thanx. this was the best vid on Oxygen sensors. it explains it clearly and now i'm a bit more confident i can do it myself in the morning.

thanks again for posting. very helpful ~

  • All OE fit oxygen sensors will come with the wiring and direct plug in connectors. As far as our universal oxygen sensors go, they still come with the wiring, however they will require cutting of the old oxygen sensor and splicing of the wiring.

  • @ngksparkplugsusa unlkess you are familiar with removal of the lock pins xP

  • do all o2 sensors comes with the wires? or do i have to buy the wires separately? can i use the old wires in the new o2 sensor?

  • certain vehicles such as my 1994 240sx are obd2 compliant. (:
