Once again we see media bias in full swing where they blame Naxder for costing Gore the 200 election. Countless studies have shown that Nader did not cost Gore the election.
Isn't Barr the author of the Defense of Marriage Act? So he's regretting this now and running as Libertarian? Hmmmmm...I'm kinda suspicious. They should have tried to get Ron Paul as the party's Presidential candidate...and Bob Barr just the VP.
Ron Paul is endorsing Chuck Baldwin. This revolution will require that we all become leaders. Ron Paul is just the beginning... he is a true patriot. Where are you? It is time we step up to the plate.
Although we love Barr, we need to make sure that Obama has no chance to get to the white house. I think that Barr has a role to play in our politics and our lives. But, Barr, let'a elect McCain, let's make sure that our country remains American!
Again with this "spoiler" nonsense being pushed in Barr's face. Fact is Barr is the only major candidate serious about reducing the size of government, serious about restoring our liberties. --- Issues that more and more Americans are becoming concerned about every day.
I'm not sold on Barr. I think he has his own political agenda and using the party to get to it. He authored the Defense of Marriage Act and he also signed the Patriot Act, how can that be Libertarian? And now he flip flops? He didn't even answer the question that he made a mistake. He just said he didn't like the repurcussions of his decision. That's why Ron Paul is the true Libertarian, he sticks to his principles from the very beginning by voting against the DOMA and PA.
Barr will not take votes from Obama. Liberals are delusional and would never vote for a libertarian. He will take votes from McCain, as will Ron Paul (who's followers will write him in) and it looks like Obama will have an easy victory. What a travesty.
Hardcore liberals may be dilusional, but I think many liberals are just "liberals" because they are anti-Bush and anti-war, and once they find out Obama's policies are in bed with the same big-government Washington politics, they'll wake up and see a 3rd party is the only way out.
Nexus974, well said... i'm really annoyed that so many TV interviews mention the fact that he is a long shot and if you don't have a realistic chance of winning, why run?
Since when do Americans not try to win if the odds are long? If there were odds-makers taking bets on the American rebels in 1776, I'm sure the Yanks weren't given much of a shot of winning, thank GOD they didn't just give up.
Where did they get this fat bastard kid from? First fucking thing out of his mouth: "Are you a spoiler?" It makes me sick to see how our democracy and republic are controlled by the same two assholes: Democrats or Republicans. Look at what these jerks have gotten us in to. Why should anyone continue to vote for them. I'm patriotic, but I feel that if Americans vote in one of the two parties, We deserve whatever we get. My vote is with Barr, so it won't be on my conscience.
The civil rights act of 1964 was unconstitutional. It gave no respect to the right to free speech or the right to own personal property. It is sad that there was so much racial hatred during that time, but the government has no right to tell a person what to say, or how they conduct their personal property. In a free market economy, the purchasing power of the people would have been able to bankrupt "whites only" businesses, simply by not spending money there.
It was not unconstitutional ASSHOLE. THAT ACT WAS ABOUT EQUAL RIGHTS AND NOT BEING TREATED AS A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN. WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH PROPERTY RIGHT YOU DUMBASS STUPID NO NOTHING 20YR OLD NAZI. HISTORY LESSONS FROM A 20YR OLD NAZI IS HISTERICAL. IT ALSO GOES TO SHOW THAT YOU DONT KNOW A GOD DAMN THING ABOUT THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. TYPICAL PAULTARD GARBABE. RACIST AND NAZI. GUESS WHAT MIGHTY WHITEY. PAUL ATTENDED KKK MEETINGS DURING THIS TIME.
I do not support Bob Barr, I support Chuck Baldwin. Libertarians are not nazi's, Nazi's were a far left party that believed in monarchy, libertarians believe in republic anarchy. As I have demonstrated, letting freedom work would have solved the race problems better than government getting more power. More government power and disregard for the constitution led to slavery in the first place, so giving them even more power is always going to cause even more problems. It is an endless cycle.
LPs who are former right wing republicans are NAZIS. NAZIS were a party of that believed there way and race and religion was the only way. Not all libertarians believe in anarchy, some are centrist. Those anarchist are nuts who will never fit in. I dont believe in extremes in any sense. In privitizing or govt, there needs to be a balance of both.
Just because I defend a guy who became educated doesn't mean I am a NAZIIIIIIIIIIII HHDW(*W*RE#(*WREJWEW(E! Farther from the truth, I would not have voted for the patriot act, I would not have voted for the the war in iraq and regret not saying anything to anybody when it occurred. Your goal is to tear down people, I try to raise them up! So what if the guy made a mistake years ago not realizing the true harm in it. Whatever......to you people who ever touched realm in another world is a NAZI!
You defend a guy who is telling you he has changed but has no proof of it. Two things are clear SHANKNAZI! You have confused your definition of what true freedom is. And you are a two faced lying hypocrite. Because all of you Paultards and Freaks were screaming about how you like the Paul was Dr. No, but Mr Yes NAZI Barr, you are willing to excuse his garbage. Yes you are two faced SHANKNAZI!! Go back to ironing your brown shirts like a good little NAZI!!
"So what if the guy made a mistake years ago not realizing the true harm in it." HIS MISTAKE HE MADE YEARS AGO HAS CAUSE THE DEATHS OF MILLIONS OF IRAQIS AND THOUSANDS OF US TROOP. HOW DO YOU RECONCILE THAT NAZI. YOU THINK THOSE FAMILIES OF DEAD TROOPS GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HIS SO CALLED CONVERSION. FUCK YOU SHANKNAZI AND ROT IN HELL@@
Instead the federal government got involved and controlled business owners. As a result, these people never learned their lesson, and continue to have no economic incentive to be racially sensitive, leading to much existing racism today.
Ok, so then why did Bob Barr vote for the Department of Homeland Security??? Your excuse for the sunset clause in the Patriot Act is BS. Chuck Baldwin is the man of integrity we need for President.
Nader did not lose the election for Gore, that is a pile of crap. VOTE=VOICE. Unless the election is decided by a single vote, your vote doesn't affect the outcome, so vote your opinion and give yourself a voice.
While no Ron Paul, Barr is getting our core issues heard and can be a major force to move the politics to the right, back toward the Constitution. If it is possible at all, incremental changes may be the only way to help save this country from out right socialism/tyranny.
Vote "TURD PARTY" and take the chance of a McCain win?
Not me. I am voting for Obama, not because I support the socialist One World coward, but because I don't want that madman McCain occupying the White House.
One of the two will win. It will be a Rep or a Dem. It won't be a TURD party candidate.
I want the GOP to suffer a horrible death so me and other dedicated Ron Paul supporters can take over our local republican party and have real some impact.
time for a good old assasination if you ask me, just keep popping them till only Ron Paul is left, with Dieboldt theyve already proven rigging elections is nothing to them!
my vote is puppet. His voting record speaks for itself. I find it hard to believe this guy will just abandon his status as a GOP lap dog because he had some sort of moment of clarity. This is the guy that led the US in an impeachment trial against clinton and does nothing to impeach Bush now. One has to do with war crimes, one has to to do with blowjobs and perjury. My bet is he will flip flop back to his old self after he doesn't win.

No self-respecting conservative will vote for McCain, but saying Barr will "steal" votes is ludicrous. The "Republicans" are worried (and rightfully so) that Barr will tilt the scale to Obama taking the election.
How about the so called Republican Party START ACTING LIKE REPUBLICANS. Barr is more Republican than the Republicans. McCain is a Liberal in Republican clothing. Those who actually pay attention know this.
Each candidate has to earn votes. No one "steals" votes from anyone else.
I'm no friend of libertarian ideology, but can someone explain what actually makes Bob Barr a libertarian? He voted for the patriot act, the intervention in Iraq, impeachment of Clinton over pussy-gate, and the defense of marriage act. How are these things libertarian?
You're right... none of those issues support Libertarian ideals of smaller government, peace and civil liberties. But as a Libertarian myself I believe he has changed his mind on all these things. I used to be a major party member before I understood Jeffersonian ideas (Libertarianism) and I changed so I give him the benefit of the doubt as well. Besides I like the name recognition/ media coverage he brings to the party. It will only help us in the long run of improving this country.
As a social-democrat I really could care less, but isn't Barr a little too old just to flip overnight on so many key issues? Honestly, we're not talking about a college student that has just taken his first course in poli-sci, but an lifetime politician. He may have name recognition, but isn't it for the kind of things libertarians tend to hate (politicizing of private sex life, ie the Clinton impeachment)? Seriously, that's like me supporting someone who's famous for busting up labor unions.
Frankly... very true we hate the politics of drive-by personal life shenanigans. Who cares. It was a total waste of time and (more importantly to a Libertarian) money. Barr wasn't my first choice but I'll take a flawed liberty talking person over the same old big government of both the GOP and Dems. I'm hoping we educate more people on liberty and I'll take a flawed candidate if we improve our numbers. It's a process. Thanks for the intelligent comments though!!
Now I am a Republican, a TRUE Republican, who is conservative. Unlike some of the Republicans in America that are not Conservative. Notice that McCain's votes have dropped significantly since he has intervened.
I am guessing that TRUE conservatives have seen this man and see that he is the person for the White House. A true conservative and a Libertarian would be great allies. Libertarians from what I know take what is good from Republican and Democratic agendas.
If you are a capable thinking person, committed to maintaining your freedom, and enjoying no limits on the quality of life you create for yourself, the Libertarian party and platform are your only real choice this year. Stop listening to the hype about "spoiling" it for the other guys. A libertarian in the White House is a victory for freedom, free-enterprise and PEOPLE. McCain and Obama are the spoilers for these things. Leave the failed parties and policies of the 20th century behind. LP-08!
Young people, in particular, will be the saving grace of the Libertarian Party's chance in this election. We need youth to speak out IN FORCE by voting for TRUE CHANGE.
Tired of your parents' same-old/same-old? Stand up, make yourselves heard, and create a decent future for yourselves.
Liberty is worth fighting for-let's not wait until we have to bear arms to reclaim our Freedom. Let's use what remains of our Rights to win this Peaceful Revolution.
The thing I don't like about news anchors is that now they do not report news, they opine in various political topics and attempt to further their agenda, e.g. keith olbermann and bill o'reilly. This leads to idiots like these guys implying things that they shouldn't because they are not qualified -- in this case, that barr shouldn't run because third parties spoil the fun for the big guys.
Our revolution must not get caught up in anti-establishment labels and minor philosophical differences that probably wont get changed in 4-8 years. Our revolution is about united to end Big government, we can troll the internet bitching about who is paleo this and neo that, or we can unite our vote and make the establishment take notice. Remeber Barr will be on the Ballot Baldwin may not be.
"Our revolution must not get caught up in anti-establishment labels and minor philosophical differences that probably wont get changed in 4-8 years. Very true. Barr also supports allowing states to decide drug issues (basically legalization) I think.
Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party for President!!!
The Ron Paul rEVOLution continues!
Bob Barr, we don't believe you! You're an ex-CIA agent who voted FOR the Patriot Act and you support the War on Drugs...you're no libertarian! You people should really check out Chuck Baldwin and see what you think!
Barr's record in Congress is generally good, but he now sounds as though he has been co-opted by the modal libertarians. His support for the recent Supreme Court decision on Guantanamo, his opposition to restricting illegal immigrants on the local level, his support for the California Supreme Court decision on homosexual marriage are all examples of not only flip-flopping but leftist/egalitarian views, not the paleolibertarianism that motivates Ron Paul.
People can learn & change their minds. The LP is a minority party, do you only want the founding members in the LP? I didn't understand what was a stake. I was one of those idiots. What has Barr done since joining the LP that makes you suspicious? He doesn't have the consistency of Paul, but he's getting attention & we have a chance to educate a lot of conservatives. At the same time we need to insist on the personal liberties to attract liberals. Let's work together to inform, not tear down.
The anti-Patriot Act group that Barr was part of needed him to vote for it so he could get onto the conference committee to put more limits on the Patriot Act.
Barr didn't flip flop on the war on drugs, he moved further into the libertarian direction. Now he is lobbying for Marijuana Policy Project to help end the federal war on drugs against peaceful recreational and medical users of mj.
Barr is the best thing for the libertarian movement since Ron Paul being in the GOP debates. Go Barr!!
The libertarians spent 50000 dollars in advertising in 2002 to campaign againt Barr because of his stance on the drug wars. Too bad you enjoy being a NAZI shill for Barr.
I was the head of Vermont NORML so ending the war on drugs is very important to me. I donated $100 to run that ad against Barr 2002. He has learned the error of his ways.
He did more than change his position, he lobbied for the Marijuana Policy Project to reform federal marijuana laws.
People can change. Libertarians can't win elections with just libertarian voters, we need to change the minds and hearts of voters. If Barr can do it, then anyone can. Vote Libertarian. Vote Barr.
Repeating that as a mantra doesnt cut it. I have yet to hear from one what he has done other than mouth a bunch of phony Ron Paul crap. Very funny how right wing LPs are so excepting of Republicans changing, but mock everyone else. He has not changed. Voting for NAZIS like Barr is not the way to change things. Barr, no thanks.
My guess is nothing will satisfy you. Barr lobbied to repeal the federal drug laws, when he was in congress he got the sunset clauses and other pro-liberty changes put into the Patriot Act - the pro-liberty opponents of the act had him only vote in favor of it so he could be on the conference committee to continue to support our rights.. He's fought against FISA stuff for years. Since leaving office he's toured the country speaking out against the Patriot Act.
He shouldnt have voted for it in the first GOD DAMN Place. At least Kucinich read, what is his excuse, to get some chair seat in exchange for violating the constitution. Excuse me, but nothing Mr. NAZI Barr can do will ever bring back over 4000 dead troops and over a million dead iraqis in part due to Barr's Iraq vote for political expedency. Are we support to just forget about that. Barr voted Homeland Security agency, that help violate that law. What is his excuse for that. No to a NAZI BARR.
Sunset clause failed because will still have the patriot act, so who cares about his whimpy efforts. Has he changed his stance on forcing religion down everyones throat, especially his. Answer why is it that his PACs gave to republican congressional candidates instead of LP's this last year. Saying you have change is not enough. Having a consist record is a good predictor of future behavior.
Stop calling Barr a Nazi. I've seen it on other videos too. Do you know what a Nazi is? Do you know what the Nazis did? You fucking asshole, if you had any real sense and maybe a history book, you might stop calling Barr a Nazi. When did Barr attempt to destroy the Jews? When did Barr attempt to control the world and implement ethnic cleansing? You fucking IDIOT. Barr isn't perfect, but he is a better alternative to an empty suit and a guy who cannot even comb his own hair.
I will call a spade a spade. That fact that everytime one of you Barr shills keep trying to pull the wool over everyones eyes makes me laugh. Ask him to apologize to the families of the soliders and Iraqis who he help to murder with his war vote. Murderous policies are nazisk. Ask him to apologize for the files that Homeland is keeping on you thanks to his vote. Why dont you address that. Is he change his position on religion. You are a worthless Paultard who is now supporting a SUPERNAZI!
Because he spouts oppressive Milton Friedman economics, does not make him a good choice. Your concern should be with bringing soliders home. And voting for a NAZI like Barr is not the war to do it.
Barr used to be for those things but later changed his mind. Also keep in mind Barr didn't support George Bush in 2004, he supported Libertarian Michael Badnarik for president, who was a true libertarian largely. Also, Barr was trying to get Waco properly investigated, and deserves a hell of a lot of credit for that. If Bob Barr was only after power, he would still be in the republican party, notlibertarian
Bob Barr is a distraction, designed to split the revolution.
He voted for the war and the Patriot Act, is pro abortion, changed position on the drug war, and isn't for ending the income tax... among other things.
Why do you think he's getting so much positive press coverage? Don't be fooled!
Chuck Baldwin 2008! (Because he didn't have to CHANGE to get your vote.)
Bob Barr has been coming around to the libertarian position for several years now. He may have committed past sins against libertarian principles, but do we want people to change their minds or don't we...?
The answer for me is yes, I want people to change their minds! I have committed a past sin against libertarian principles too. I voted for Bush....
The Patriot Act was specically written for U.S. Citizens. To fight domestic terrorism. You can NOT make a mistake like that. He also voted for the Department of Homeland Security. He's a shill, the neo-cons infiltrated the Libertarian Party. Plus, doesn't anybody else find it suspicious that this guy has gotten more media attention, than Ron Paul ever did?! He's already been on Hannity and Glenn Beck. He was on Glenn Beck before he even got the nomination.
I got to tell you, if I was in Congress, and I was there because I cared about the constituents in my district first and foremost, I would vote NO on each and every bill that had a rush on it. Just seems like common sense. The USA Patriot Act does not even have an author! Did you know that? No-one claims it. How can you vote for something that the author was afraid to admit he or she had written?
I do not trust you Mr. Barr if you were part of the C.I.A. and have a CRAPY voting record then no one should trust you! We needed MARY RUWART or RON PAUL! I hope that you don't run next year and I pray that you are not the next president!
We can all say we made mistakes in our live, surly Bob Barr has too but he has spent many years to repeal the Patriot act and he is not the only one. I commend Ron Paul for fighting for our freedom all these years but let it be said that any one that now wants to fight for freedoms be welcomed.
Write in votes are only counted if they are for an officially registered candidate, and otherwise are worthless. Writing in Ron Paul or Big Bird would be the same as if you didn't vote at all, which is completely impractical and absolutist, and Ron Paul wouldn't even support that. What he would support is the practical choice of voting for a third party candidate that is actually on the ballot, close to his views, so that you at least used your opportunity to have an effect on the election.
Hey Barr why not talk about voting for the Homeland Security act too? Do you regret voting for that bureacracy to branch out in power? It must be even more shameful since you didn't read it before voting yes for it!
I wish Barr would mention voting reform like IRV whenever they mentioned him as a "spoiler". Ranked choice voting would mean that no vote would be wasted and the "spoiler effect" would be eliminated.
Chuck Baldwin is a fraud. He was a state chairman for the Moral Majority. Thats not too first ammendment, constitutionally friendly, which he claims to be. Barr has obviously changed since congress, and admits his mistakes. Hes a much better choice than Baldwin.
You see that Barr has changed but you can't see that Baldwin has changed too? Go to his site and you can read exactly why and when he broke with the Moral Majority---and it was long before he became the Constitution Party candidate.
I do realize that Baldwin has probably changed his views throught time. Its just frusturating how people will vote for Chuck Baldwin because they say he changed from past mistakes, but bash Bob Barr for his past mistakes even though he is a changed man. He has been fighting against the patriot act for the past 3-4 years. As you can see by all his interviews, he sincerely regrest voting for it in the first place.
Let's raise the Barr if Paul is out!!!!! I think the constitutionalist party is too theocratic. The libertarians want to separate church and state! This is good for all religions and the people living in that society! I agree, Barr is by far the best choice this election!
who cares if bob barr voted for the patriot act, he is still a much better choice than Obama or McCain. I'd vote for ANYONE but a democrat or republican.
Chuck Baldwin is the Constitution Party Nominee for President. Chuck Baldwin campaigned for Ron Paul in early primary states. We need to build an infrastructure around Chuck Baldwin incase Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination. Bob Barr is out of the question.
All of the posts about Barr not being a true libertarian because he 7 years ago voted for the Patriot Act and the War is misleading. Can someone change their minds and apologize for their past mistakes? Well he has and he wants to change what has happened. Overall he is still, not as the most true Libertarian in some eyes, is still the best candidate out there.
He voted for the Patriot Act??? Listen to this asswipe trying to shift blame to the government. YOU VOTED FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDNT EVEN READ!!
Like Ron Paul said, a lot of house members just fell for the trap that they had to do something...whether or not it was good or bad was irrelevant to them.
Bob Barr was tested and failed to uphold his principles in the midst of chaos. Why would I vote for him?? He's only a libertarian after the smoke has cleared.
Look at Rob Kampia's 2nd nomination speech of Bob Barr. Steve Debasche, former director of the Libertarian Party when Harry Browne was the candidate, also 2nded the nomination of Bob Barr. Bob Barr is a Libertarian.
It does help him admitting he made a mistake voting for the Patriot Act, and he has changed his stance on medical marijuana. Bush would never admit that he made a mistake. All humans do now and again. And it would be nice to have a president willing to fix a mistake, instead of riding it to the end. I'm not convinced he is right for the job, but he might be all we have this election.
I want to know what he is going to do about the illegal IRS and Fed? I don't trust him. Now we have neo conservatives progressive Democrats and neo Libertarians, is there really a choice. To top it all off I can't even write in Ron Paul in my state. I almost forgot about Chuck Baldwin and the Christian Constitutionalist, still not much of a choice.
Jeep is probably referring to Barr voting for the PA because he was able to get the sunset clauses in. If Barr wasn't able to to that revoking it, which is what he's been trying to do for five years, would be significantly more difficult.
Constitution Party 2008: Chuck Baldwin for President. Chuck Baldwin is a huge Ron Paul supporter, and campagined for him in many early primary states. We, including Dr. Baldwin want Ron Paul for President, but I think it is important to set up an infrastructure around Chuck Baldwin, incase Dr. Paul does not get the nomination. Remember, Bob Barr voted for the Patriot Act.
Barr has recieved more publicity through the MSM in the past 3 months than Ron Paul recieved throughout his entire campaign... that should be a red flag all by itself.
Well, that's not true. Paul was getting this much publicity around Nov-Jan when people still thought he could have an impact on the primaries. The reason Barr is getting the attention now is because it's Barr, not Paul who has a chance of having an impact on the general election.
As far as I'm concerned Barr is incapable of being president. If he was wrong about the Patriot Act, what else has he been wrong about? Ron Paul called it right the first time. The PA was wrong from its inception, ill considered by Congress, rushed through under fear pressure by the administration, and passed in violation of the Constitution. How could anyone trust Barr and failure to abide by his oath and support the Constitution? I will not be supporting Barr at any time.
maybe because he realized his mistake and has spend the past five years trying to get the Patriot Act removed? Barr isn't perfect, but he is a friend and ally of Ron Paul's and he's the best pro-freedom candidate to have an impact on this election.
I don't fault him for realizing his mistake. I fault him for making such a huge mistake in the first place. This isn't horse shoes where you get points for being close the the pole. The Constitution is clear about our rights. In this arena there can be no mistakes. Our freedom and liberty depend on it. I don't trust Barr to make the right decision when it matters most; when our rights are under attack.
By focusing on his record before he had his libertarian revelation you're missing the forest through the trees. Supporting the Libertarian Party is much bigger than just Bob Barr. It's about building an opposition party that can become a legitimate factor within political discourse in the near future. There are no legitimate alternatives at this time. The Constitution Party will not be on the ballot in most of the US and write-in votes for Paul will not be counted.
His record is the only thing there is to focus on. How do you rate a candidate in not on his record? I'm not voting to build another party, I'm voting to take back the party from the ones who stole it. Do you really think the neocons are going to go away just because there are other parties? No. They have to be dethroned. It's time to clean house and take out the garbage. Barr left before the job even got started. I guess he's not interested in taking cleaning up the mess he helped to create.
Did you miss where he said he's been working to repeal the Patriot Act since he left congress? Barr was in my state of Vermont three years ago campaigning against the Patriot Act. It's good that they are asking him about his votes because he gets to explain either the vote or his change of view. Also on the Patriot Act he traded his vote to get the sunset clauses put into the Act along with other privacy protections. He now knows he shouldn't have trusted them, but that's why he's in the LP.
Because nobody in Congress got to fully read the Patriot Act minutes before it was passed and he quickly did his best and made revisions so it WOULDN'T BE PERMANENT! Had he voted against it his sunset clause wouldn't of counted and the Patriot act would have no expiration! He has fought VERY hard with his own money trying to correct his mistakes. He has apologized and his truly researched the libertarian philosophy. 3 years ago became a lifelong libertarian card holder and loves FREEDOM!
He shankNAZI if he didnt understand it, then vote NO. Dennis Kucinich voted no and actually read it, so did Russ Fiengold, and even old NAZI RON PAUL voted NO. Now what is your excuse. If the shoe were on the foot and Kucinich had voted yes on it, you would be bashing him to no end, talking about how he doesnt believe in the const. Bust because its is a Republinazi like Barr, oh you have to make every excuse for him. What a lying two faced NAZI you are.
I like Dennis alot except for his amount of government control. I would've voted for Dennis over Barr 10 years ago! You don't know who I am or what I think! Will you please leave me alone and quit messaging me! Peace!
I know what you are, you are a liar, two faced, a nazi supporter and probably a nazi yourself. You started with me yesterday, so if you want to be left alone, shut your trecherous lying mouth up, ShankNAZI!
I am a libertarian and would vote Kucinich over Bob Barr. Kucinich is much more geniune than Bob Barr on his beliefs. I do agree more with Kucinich on social issues and environmental policy as compared to Barr.
Barr does seem more sincere now that i think about it, I guess trust is a big issue for me ever scince Bush ran on no nationbuilding or policing the world. lol.
No one is Ron Paul but Ron Paul. If Dr. Paul were on the ballot I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. Unfortunately he isn't so I will vote for whomever is closest to him ideologically, and that's Bob Barr.
It's a pincer attack (look it up). I'm glad to see so much attention being paid to the libertarian message. I would vote for Ron Paul over Barr considering Barr seems to be riding the wave of Ron Paul's strong political stance/career.
The media is crap, what ever happened to journalism and not being biased? There are no spoilers, each candidate deserves every vote that s/he's able to obtain. Spoilers assume one candidate is more deserving than another, or that my vote belongs to only one of 2 media approved candidates. They marginalized Ron Paul, now it's already starting with Barr. Just present the candidates & facts, & maybe some positive change will occur. Of course, we can't count on this, so make sure you inform others.
Libertarians and true conservatives are never going to vote for McCain:
He is weak on the 2nd amendment. He support big goverment domestically and overseas. He think socialism is the answer to climate change. He thinks he is a scientist. He wants to increase the size of the federal goverment and thus taxation... Actually what is he doing in the Republican party?
In my soul I'm for Ron Paul and his message more than anything. For what it's worth, I truly hope the true libertarian message continues taking a hold of people the way it is. I hope Barr can be part of the revolution awakening the masses. I don't think I can alter my views to switch to Bob, but I'm sure not supporting McCain or Obama. I'm in a quandary but remain hopeful.

Bob Barr will be on the ballot in 50 states.

That's why Ron Paul is the true Libertarian, he sticks to his principles from the very beginning by voting against the DOMA and PA.
puppyjoe69 3 years ago
Barr will not take votes from Obama. Liberals are delusional and would never vote for a libertarian. He will take votes from McCain, as will Ron Paul (who's followers will write him in) and it looks like Obama will have an easy victory. What a travesty.
tcon12345 3 years ago
Hardcore liberals may be dilusional, but I think many liberals are just "liberals" because they are anti-Bush and anti-war, and once they find out Obama's policies are in bed with the same big-government Washington politics, they'll wake up and see a 3rd party is the only way out.

He will not "take" votes from anyone. McCain doesn't own anyone's vote. He has to earn votes, just like Obama and Barr do.

The civil rights act of 1964 was unconstitutional. It gave no respect to the right to free speech or the right to own personal property. It is sad that there was so much racial hatred during that time, but the government has no right to tell a person what to say, or how they conduct their personal property. In a free market economy, the purchasing power of the people would have been able to bankrupt "whites only" businesses, simply by not spending money there.
enomarekim 3 years ago
It is an endless cycle.
enomarekim 3 years ago
LPs who are former right wing republicans are NAZIS. NAZIS were a party of that believed there way and race and religion was the only way. Not all libertarians believe in anarchy, some are centrist. Those anarchist are nuts who will never fit in. I dont believe in extremes in any sense. In privitizing or govt, there needs to be a balance of both.

How about the so called Republican Party START ACTING LIKE REPUBLICANS. Barr is more Republican than the Republicans. McCain is a Liberal in Republican clothing. Those who actually pay attention know this.

FranklyMisterShankly 3 years ago
You're right... none of those issues support Libertarian ideals of smaller government, peace and civil liberties. But as a Libertarian myself I believe he has changed his mind on all these things. I used to be a major party member before I understood Jeffersonian ideas (Libertarianism) and I changed so I give him the benefit of the doubt as well. Besides I like the name recognition/ media coverage he brings to the party. It will only help us in the long run of improving this country.
SKAsquish 3 years ago 8
As a social-democrat I really could care less, but isn't Barr a little too old just to flip overnight on so many key issues? Honestly, we're not talking about a college student that has just taken his first course in poli-sci, but an lifetime politician. He may have name recognition, but isn't it for the kind of things libertarians tend to hate (politicizing of private sex life, ie the Clinton impeachment)? Seriously, that's like me supporting someone who's famous for busting up labor unions.
FranklyMisterShankly 3 years ago
Frankly... very true we hate the politics of drive-by personal life shenanigans.

I am guessing that TRUE conservatives have seen this man and see that he is the person for the White House. A true conservative and a Libertarian would be great allies. Libertarians from what I know take what is good from Republican and Democratic agendas.

Too bad you enjoy being a NAZI shill for Barr.
truthout911 3 years ago

Barr, no thanks.
truthout911 3 years ago
My guess is nothing will satisfy you. Barr lobbied to repeal the federal drug laws, when he was in congress he got the sunset clauses and other pro-liberty changes put into the Patriot Act - the pro-liberty opponents of the act had him only vote in favor of it so he could be on the conference committee to continue to support our rights.. He's fought against FISA stuff for years. Since leaving office he's toured the country speaking out against the Patriot Act.
HardyMachia 3 years ago
He shouldnt have voted for it in the first GOD DAMN Place. At least Kucinich read, what is his excuse, to get some chair seat in exchange for violating the constitution. Excuse me, but nothing Mr. NAZI Barr can do will ever bring back over 4000 dead troops and over a million dead iraqis in part due to Barr's Iraq vote for political expedency. Are we support to just forget about that. Barr voted Homeland Security agency, that help violate that law. What is his excuse for that. No to a NAZI BARR.
truthout911 3 years ago
Sunset clause failed because will still have the patriot act, so who cares about his whimpy efforts. Has he changed his stance on forcing religion down everyones throat, especially his. Answer why is it that his PACs gave to republican congressional candidates instead of LP's this last year. Saying you have change is not enough. Having a consist record is a good predictor of future behavior.

To top it all off I can't even write in Ron Paul in my state. I almost forgot about Chuck Baldwin and the Christian Constitutionalist, still not much of a choice.

bob barr is a libertarian. he is just smart about it.
jeepndesert 3 years ago
bob barr voted for the patriot act in order to weaken it because it was going to pass anyway.
jeepndesert 3 years ago
that makes no sense, weaken by association?
hazballs09 3 years ago
lolol He voted for the Patriot Act to weaken it?
I joined Hell's Angels to talk some sense into them lolol. But the judge didnt have mercy on me when he sent us to jail lolol
jeepndesert Im sorry but your logic is absent
VoteYourConsience 3 years ago
Jeep is probably referring to Barr voting for the PA because he was able to get the sunset clauses in. If Barr wasn't able to to that revoking it, which is what he's been trying to do for five years, would be significantly more difficult.
Raxr985 3 years ago 2
i wish i could vote...i want ron paul to nominate bob barr; the libertarian party is closer in my beliefs than the constitutional party.

Selina231 3 years ago
Barr has recieved more publicity through the MSM in the past 3 months than Ron Paul recieved throughout his entire campaign... that should be a red flag all by itself.
matrixm777 3 years ago
Well, that's not true. Paul was getting this much publicity around Nov-Jan when people still thought he could have an impact on the primaries. The reason Barr is getting the attention now is because it's Barr, not Paul who has a chance of having an impact on the general election.
Raxr985 3 years ago
As far as I'm concerned Barr is incapable of being president. If he was wrong about the Patriot Act, what else has he been wrong about? Ron Paul called it right the first time. The PA was wrong from its inception, ill considered by Congress, rushed through under fear pressure by the administration, and passed in violation of the Constitution. How could anyone trust Barr and failure to abide by his oath and support the Constitution? I will not be supporting Barr at any time.
bbburton 3 years ago
maybe because he realized his mistake and has spend the past five years trying to get the Patriot Act removed? Barr isn't perfect, but he is a friend and ally of Ron Paul's and he's the best pro-freedom candidate to have an impact on this election.
Raxr985 3 years ago 2
I don't fault him for realizing his mistake. I fault him for making such a huge mistake in the first place. This isn't horse shoes where you get points for being close the the pole. The Constitution is clear about our rights. In this arena there can be no mistakes. Our freedom and liberty depend on it. I don't trust Barr to make the right decision when it matters most; when our rights are under attack.
bbburton 3 years ago
By focusing on his record before he had his libertarian revelation you're missing the forest through the trees. Supporting the Libertarian Party is much bigger than just Bob Barr. It's about building an opposition party that can become a legitimate factor within political discourse in the near future. There are no legitimate alternatives at this time. The Constitution Party will not be on the ballot in most of the US and write-in votes for Paul will not be counted.
Raxr985 3 years ago
His record is the only thing there is to focus on. How do you rate a candidate in not on his record? I'm not voting to build another party, I'm voting to take back the party from the ones who stole it. Do you really think the neocons are going to go away just because there are other parties? No. They have to be dethroned. It's time to clean house and take out the garbage. Barr left before the job even got started. I guess he's not interested in taking cleaning up the mess he helped to create.
bbburton 3 years ago
Did you miss where he said he's been working to repeal the Patriot Act since he left congress? Barr was in my state of Vermont three years ago campaigning against the Patriot Act. It's good that they are asking him about his votes because he gets to explain either the vote or his change of view. Also on the Patriot Act he traded his vote to get the sunset clauses put into the Act along with other privacy protections. He now knows he shouldn't have trusted them, but that's why he's in the LP.
HardyMachia 3 years ago 2
His VP, Wayne Allen Root has called Ron Paul "weak" on national defense and the war on terror.
That's enough to scare me away from the libertarian party this year. Sounds like more Goldwater/Reagan neo-cons.

Obama will never be President. They will destroy him and the hope of his supporters just like they did with Clinton.

Good interview with Bob Barr.
But what is this ABC program? It sounded completely unprofessional and almost like they were sitting in some little studio in their garage.
TheFreedomRevolution 3 years ago 3
How can anyone who voted for the "Patriot Act" even pretend to be for Liberty? Ridiculous.
christopherquinn 3 years ago

What a lying two faced NAZI you are.
truthout911 3 years ago
I like Dennis alot except for his amount of government control. I would've voted for Dennis over Barr 10 years ago! You don't know who I am or what I think! Will you please leave me alone and quit messaging me! Peace!
shanklinmike 3 years ago
I know what you are, you are a liar, two faced, a nazi supporter and probably a nazi yourself. You started with me yesterday, so if you want to be left alone, shut your trecherous lying mouth up, ShankNAZI!
truthout911 3 years ago
I am a libertarian and would vote Kucinich over Bob Barr. Kucinich is much more geniune than Bob Barr on his beliefs. I do agree more with Kucinich on social issues and environmental policy as compared to Barr.
Quinn509 3 years ago
Why knock a guy because they aren't up to Ron Paul's standards? We are all allies trying to minimize government! Not trying to be rude, PEACE!

Barr does seem more sincere now that i think about it, I guess trust is a big issue for me ever scince Bush ran on no nationbuilding or policing the world. lol.

WRITE-IN: RON PAUL.
I will not vote for Obama, McCain, Nader or Barr.
I never vote via skewed voting machines. I will use paper ballots only - which is why I vote absentee.
I will write in Ron Paul on my absentee ballot, because he is the only candidate worthy of my vote.
christopherquinn 3 years ago
That could be worth as much as not voting. You have to be registered as a write-in candidate for the votes to be counted.
StormCommander 3 years ago
Everyone needs to go check out the constitution parties nominee, Chuck Baldwin. Very simular to Ron Paul and a good friend of Ron Paul.
Bilakaifa 3 years ago 2
Baldwin, Barr, or write-in Paul.
As long as you don't vote for Obamccain

Ron Paul is the MAN.

Bob Barr is No Ron Paul
VoteYourConsience 3 years ago
No one is Ron Paul but Ron Paul. If Dr. Paul were on the ballot I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. Unfortunately he isn't so I will vote for whomever is closest to him ideologically, and that's Bob Barr.
Nexus974 3 years ago 4
Chuck Baldwin is actually closer, but he will be on the ballot in less states.

CHuck is a Drug Warrior. Barr was a drug warrior who saw the light.

It's a pincer attack (look it up). I'm glad to see so much attention being paid to the libertarian message. I would vote for Ron Paul over Barr considering Barr seems to be riding the wave of Ron Paul's strong political stance/career.
Billiameo 3 years ago
The media is crap, what ever happened to journalism and not being biased? There are no spoilers, each candidate deserves every vote that s/he's able to obtain. Spoilers assume one candidate is more deserving than another, or that my vote belongs to only one of 2 media approved candidates. They marginalized Ron Paul, now it's already starting with Barr. Just present the candidates & facts, & maybe some positive change will occur. Of course, we can't count on this, so make sure you inform others.
Husky217 3 years ago
Mike Gravel should be the one.
Bob Bar voted for the Patriot Act.
He is part of the "reason" why you lost your individual rights.
I don't agree with "people make mistakes" excuses!
If one kill another person, the law will not say "come on, he just make a mistakes".
No! he will be jailed! So all who voted for the Patriot Act should be prosecuted together with BUSH's Dick.
LeeKwangEng 3 years ago
You still have Ron Paul.
Even Ron Paul lost the Nomination, America still have Ron Paul Supporters who are the Revolutionist!
There are many Ron Paul running for Congress, Senator, Mayor, Governor etc.
Ron Paul is taking over the country without being a President.
LeeKwangEng 3 years ago 3
Libertarians and true conservatives are never going to vote for McCain:
He is weak on the 2nd amendment. He support big goverment domestically and overseas. He think socialism is the answer to climate change. He thinks he is a scientist. He wants to increase the size of the federal goverment and thus taxation... Actually what is he doing in the Republican party?
philippe1985 3 years ago 3
Spoiler? If people vote for Bob Barr it just mean voters don't want loony Obama or insane McCain the white house.
If McCain wants republicans votes, why doesn't he start by acting like a republican?
philippe1985 3 years ago 4
In my soul I'm for Ron Paul and his message more than anything. For what it's worth, I truly hope the true libertarian message continues taking a hold of people the way it is. I hope Barr can be part of the revolution awakening the masses. I don't think I can alter my views to switch to Bob, but I'm sure not supporting McCain or Obama. I'm in a quandary but remain hopeful.
