As sleep-deprived ramble, this was interesting. The subject is pleasantly crunchy, if you know what I mean. If you wonder about God maybe being the sum-total of all parts of the universe, sounds rather like the idea of tzimtzum (contraction), which says God contracted Himself in order to create the universe. debatable age of the universe is not necessarily a Conservative-only p.o.v., tho- read writings of Aryeh Kaplan (who may have been excommunicated by certain haredim for that...)
and another thing. what if youre a recreation of another soul. will u be w ur relatives or theirs? and what if ur loved one is a "reincarnation" and this is a totally jewish belief!! i think it was the Rambam (Maimonides) said that like nearly all souls are "recycled" souls (brought back to this world to fulfill the persons failed mission in life) deep stuff... they say its better to not think about this till u get to such a high level. so ya, focus on what we can and improve on what we can.
dont think about this!! im not trying to just dismiss it like a coward or something... im saying itll drive u crazy!! no matter what you believe thinking about this is beyond us. if u dont believe in G-d then just the thought of the universe is so vast. and if u do then He is infinite. u cant think about this. its another demention!! how can people in a 2 dimensional universe imagine "up"??? u said urself u didnt sleep well. u shud stop and focus on wat u can. u may lose ur sanity (or ur belief)
@shamoo7000 i wish i was losing sleep because i was thinking big thoughts. really it's because i was moving into a new apartment and had been sooo busy! but thanks for your concern
A co-worker brought this idea up to me. My thought on it was that, if Heaven is a place of ultimate happiness (or if you go with the idea of your own personal Heaven, sorta like the idea of a personal Hell), then you'd be with the wife who made you happier, and if both your wives really loved you, they'd both be reunited with you in their own personal heavens. Of all the points of reference to use, the American Dad episode that featured Armageddon happening had an example of this.
