on its own is a great game. even though i dislike the battle system and not the ability to free roam like the old games.

but i understand, it would be so much trouble to make with Square enix standard for graphics. with the size of data on the disc, and even when you download it. it would take so much data. but if they could make the games, free roaming part, with the graphics of today, with using something like an airship and a massive world or the old style world. it would be aweosome

The only thing that disappointed me really about XIII, well, two things really, was the lack of an engrossing story and free-roaming capabilities. Granted that Gran Pulse is indeed huge, not being able to fly around via airship instead of wading through various - and often annoying trials - to open them was a huge turn off for me. That, plus the music wasn't that good for me. The aesthetics grew on me, and while it bothered me initially that the Eidolons became J-Transformers I remembered:

Even though i haven't played the Real game i can only say this, in Final Fantasy XIII the summons are supposed to be different they tried to fit everything as close as they could, Bahamut here really got Modernized to the point that he can be used as a usable support character unlike the other games that he can only be used once or twice in a situation plus the graphics are making Bahamut here look more realistic like the real deal

Though I admittedly was upset by the changes I found it fitting with the game's over all theme of Modernist and Traditionalist appearances.I accepted it, because obviously there was a lot of hard work into his design.
