I'm not sure if I appreciate the purpose of posting all those "wacky comments." I mean, any director can find a collection of jerks who posted comments on their videos. However, one that definitely deserves the hall of fame for wacky comments is that person on BBB #10 who said that the NIV Bible was a "Luciferian Conspiracy."
Absolutely love the one involving 100 million degrees with the burning and the screaming at the top of your lungs. I <3 ignorant fundamentalists who didn't pay attention in high school science class :)
Very funny! I loved reading those notes that your anti-fan club sent you. (speling erors and evrthing jst maed me lagh outs louds. ) Keep up the great work!
OK bragster. You beat the rest of us out. I'm still pushing for 1000. I must say, I'd bet the Indians were later a bit sorry they had fed the colonists. The native peoples in Russian America (AKA Alaska) fared somewhat better.
Talk about biting the had that fed you.........By the way, i had send you a copy of a tribute to Malalai Joya, one of the truly great human beings of our era. the horrors she speaks about are all done in the name of "religion." It is a much up to us who are believers to put a stop to this, as to anyone else. One must doubt that politicians will do it.
Its all in the "game," prof. I get hate mail from the Religious Right also, and the odd "refutation" video from Fundamentlists who really LIKE the idea that God is a homicidal maniac who gets peptic ulcers over anyone who violates some Divine fetish. The idea of a created hell made to punish fetish violators lets us know that Fundamentalists would be very, very dangerous if they had any real political power--as dangerous to us Orthodox as to anyone else.
Wait, I'm getting this idea that the Prof might be gay. That can't be true can it? You just admire the masculine form. Right? Right? I mean I've watched a lot of your videos, did I miss something? Is there actually a secret international gay sign? And . . . where the hell am I? :P
I must remember to thank Thunderf00t. All he has to do is favorite one of my videos and the video gets hundreds of additional views and the channel gets a bunch of new subscribers. It amazes me every time it happens.
Well, I'm a big fan of his work, so I'm honored that you found me through him. Thanks, The1Unmarkable.
Congratulations, and some of those wacky comments had me in tears.
Do you ever suspect that at least some are written by atheists who either want to mock theists, or just want to see if their comments can "make the cut" in one of these videos?
Hey, thanks, Todd. It's always possible, but I try to be discerning about the comments I pick. If a few fakers get in, so be it -- as long as they're still funny. ;-)
"...what are your wine picks for Thanksgiving this year?"
Great question. Usually, I'm all about Pinot Noir for Thanksgiving. But this year my partner's going a bit bolder with some flavors on the menu, so I'm going bolder with the wine, serving 2005 Vina Robles Petite Sirah. I tested it out a dinner party last month and it was a big hit.

As one of your now 8000 fans and as Canadian who has long since digested his thankgiving feast, I would just like to say thank you, sir, for your excellent channel and to all of your American subscribers: Happy Thanksgiving.
Incidently, a little over 40 years ago I stole--married--an American girl and so often get to celebrate not one, but two thanksgiving feasts each year.
I am thankful for my American family who often seem to party better than my Canadian family.
lol Well, enjoy your second Thanksgiving, John. I see no reason why anyone should be limited to one. And my best to your wife and in-laws for the holiday. Thanks.
Those were obviously some of the wackiest comments ever. I love the one that says "I think atheism is wrong because it claims that beliefs must be based on facts." That was priceless. As if basing beliefs on fiction is the path to truth.
Thanks, Middlekk. Excellent questions. For me, Thanksgiving is an opportunity, among other things, to pause to think about my, as you put it, life conditions and to consider how fortunate I am in so many ways. Of course, the many wonderful things in my life are not merely the result of chance or my own work, but many other people were and are significant factors. Thanksgiving is a chance to express thanks to them in a special way. It's also a time to consider how grateful I am for having...
...known and loved (and been loved by) a number of wonderful people who are no longer alive. It's also a good time to share some really good food and wine with people I love.
We have a little Thanksgiving "prayer" that has nothing to do with any gods that someone at our Thanksgiving table recites every year before we eat. I'll try to remember to post it up here. I think it does a better job of expressing what I mean than this comment is doing. lol

Congrats on the big 8000 Prof! You were the first 'big name' to sub to my measly little channel, was a huge honor. My wife and I both love your vids and we look forward to every new one. Take care and enjoy the holidays.
Thank you, dahling. I'm glad you love them. They're all good. "The Audacity of Naivete" sounds like a good book title. Better than "Going Rogue", eh? ;-)
BLASTPHEMER!!! LOL!! Prof, are you trying to kill us? I can't breathe! LMAO! Were on this planet do these cretins come from?! Very funny video indeed :-D
As if I didn't have lots of good reasons to congratulate you, Prof, I can add that anyone who gets a poseur like Theologica spinning is okay in my book!
I really like some of these combination insults. I mean, combining their bigotry against atheists and homosexuals definitely makes some entertaining quotes. I think I'm going to have to put some of these on my facebook profile. LOL!
So let me understand this correctly. Being a Christian Philosopher, makes you a phony philosopher?
Hehe.
Prof, your ignorant bigotry is baffling. Are you familiar with the current state of affairs within academic philosophy of religion? Do we have to name names? Or is it just the mere fact that on a scholarly level, your thusly cretinous assertions are completely foreign, and unargued-- make Christian philosophy 'wanna-be'.. Wow. Really Prof? Are you that closed and simple-minded?
You seem to be under the impression that I've said something "phony". I can only conclude that this is due to my asking you to rephrase and/or cite your attempted (failed) philosophical argument.
So once again for you, and LET THE READER MARK THIS CHALLENGE; Cite YOUR (apparently dry concocted) argument on a scholarly level? Since this alone has statured significance, 'prof'. You will quickly find that the only slight resemblence to your semantics is found in the failures of logical positivism.
"...my asking you to rephrase and/or cite your attempted (failed) philosophical argument."
Wow, that's still stuck in your craw? With Advent approaching, you should make one of your preparations for Christmas "learning how to let things go." In any case, I note yet again that despite all your blustering and foot-stomping about my argument in "What is God?" and the related videos, you've yet even to attempt to refute it. That silence is deafening.
I won't be holding my breath. It doesn't take Augustine to realize that you've stumbled through a few late night ideas and began to run with them. I find it hardly "prof-like" to praise scholarly atheistic philosophy on one side of your mouth, and on the other condemn someone (myself) who presents solely academic philosophy (I AM MORE than ready to substantiate this)-- only from the opposite position. Such ends appear to be derivative of a pseudo-bipolar bigotry, not of thorough research 'prof'.
"someone (myself) who presents solely academic philosophy...from the opposite position"
Theologica, parroting the claims and arguments of philosophers one admires doesn't make one a philosopher any more than being able to repeat the rationales for Supreme Court decisions makes one a lawyer.
When claiming SR a 'pro philosopher' you've asserted that other philosophy (that I represent) is 'phony'.
Did I ever claim to be a 'pro philosopher' Prof? Care to quote me? Or are you just going to continue with these ignorant, arbitrary assertions? I even admitted (of the next year) I am lay.
I insisted that because I'm not yet (NOR ARE YOU) tenured by such means, that rational discussion need revolve by academia. You've yet cited work-- I'm reminding you, I do not share your weighty burden.
It would bode well for your appearances to actually articulate the philosophy you claim I've misrepresented, or the facts you believe I've ignored. These tactics of evasion, and snide poisoning of the well hardly substantiate your 'case' here.
Step down from the ivory tower and present the reasoning for your, thus far, laughable assertions.
Theologica, you've yet to quote me accurately on anything, yet you accuse me of "evasion and snide poisoning of the well." It would be hilariously funny if it weren't so blatant and pathetic. You are, in my humble opinion, at best a philosopher manque (lots of sizzle, but very little steak) with a seemingly pathological penchant for dishonesty. Now I can't imagine why you give a shit about my opinion of you. I certainly don't give a shit about your opinion of me.
Think through these responses. Evasion by snide non-sequitur hardly is forth-coming of the intellectual prowess with which you've esteemed yourself.
"dishonesty"
This sloppy ad-hominem without a spec of reference, is the case in point. This is a weighty claim.
So, to nail you down once more: Have you care to give illustration of this or to cite a specific argument? ..Or to have rational, non-bigoted conversation at all? Or are you content with fundamentalist tactics and inconsistent rhetoric?
LOL! This is the longest exchange I've ever had with you, Theologica, and EVERYTHING I've suspected about you based on your videos and hearing what people I respect on YouTube have said and shown about you has proven true, none of it favorable. I don't intend to waste even another second with this bitchy drivel of yours.
Of course, if you have an actual argument to present about a video I've made or something I've said, put it in a video response. I *might* watch it.
Open your eyes prof; Listen. My asking you to cease with fundamentalist evasion tactics, arbitrary ad-hominems, vague unarticulated references (like your supposed messaging conversations with people) and MAKE specific points seems hardly as "bitchy drivel". You're bumbling through claims left and right without the slightest bit of direction. Clean up your language, and your act and have a rational conversation here. Specific claims, specific references.
I would also like to point out, on the side, that you are COMPLETELY ignorant as to my level of education. Completely, unequivocally, IGNORANT. I am all for scholarly work, specifically the rigor it requires. Which Is why I have demanded the citations I have, and offered to give you mine.
You are not working with this "professional" prowess with which you praise yourself.
I don't recall, at any point, beginning a discussion with you. I only asked ProfMTH to clarify his apparently unfounded prejudice. That you would come to his defense is a cute though irrelevant factor in this.
I'd really like it if someone called me "Blastphemer!" = (

Hey Prof. Congrats.
I was thinking yesterday about the proper atheist response to the holiday of Thanksgiving.
Even though the holiday is "secular" in origin, there is also a very strong religious undercurrent.
Does giving thanks imply someONE to give thanks TO? Does the quality of thankfulness for one's life-conditions imply a "thank designer"?
Or can one be "thankful" without the woo? Thankfulness for nature, genetics, and "luck".
Haven't worked my way through the implications.

Thank you, dahling. I'm glad you love them. They're all good. "The Audacity of Naivete" sounds like a good book title. Better than "Going Rogue", eh? ;-)

Did you see the clip on the Daily Show of the
dyslexic news anchor that said her book was
titled Going Rouge?lol
How about that kid refusing to stand for the Pledge
of Allegiance until all gay people have civil rights?
angryislander56 2 years ago
lol No, I missed that. I'll have to look for it online.
I *love* that kid. I wish he were mine. That's the kid I always wanted. ;-)

Did you see the bit on the Daily Show about the kid
with the wrestler? The wrestler Mick Foley comes
out and says the kid is a great American and if he
is hasseled in any way or called a wad of any sort
he, and some of his friends ,will bring *a world of
hurt* to the kids school? Hilarious! Hope he does it!

Interesting. Thanks for the correction Johnsigl.
"For Muslims its a fairly new thing that only really took off with the Zionist colonization of Palestine from the 1890s"
Obviously I knew that was a major problem now. But I'd always thought it was the head of a centuries long animosity for one another.
Clearly I need to learn more about this. Thanks again.

Wacky comments and the Amazing Religionists Who Make Them and Give Them No Thought Department:
"...your ass, where you've been pounded one too many times."
Uh, I guess that means that any "pounding" that occurs before that "one too many" time is okay.
Probably not. See Pat Condell's "Was Jesus Gay."
Sorry, Prof, I'm just a slave to temptation, sometimes... :)

Theologica37 2 years ago
"So let me understand this correctly. Being a Christian Philosopher, makes you a phony philosopher?"
You'll have to ask someone who makes that claim, Theologica37.
ProfMTH 2 years ago
You seem to be under the impression that I've said something "phony". I can only conclude that this is due to my asking you to rephrase and/or cite your attempted (failed) philosophical argument.
So once again for you, and LET THE READER MARK THIS CHALLENGE; Cite YOUR (apparently dry concocted) argument on a scholarly level? Since this alone has statured significance, 'prof'. You will quickly find that the only slight resemblence to your semantics is found in the failures of logical positivism.
Theologica37 2 years ago
"...my asking you to rephrase and/or cite your attempted (failed) philosophical argument."
Wow, that's still stuck in your craw? With Advent approaching, you should make one of your preparations for Christmas "learning how to let things go." In any case, I note yet again that despite all your blustering and foot-stomping about my argument in "What is God?" and the related videos, you've yet even to attempt to refute it. That silence is deafening.
Have a good night, Theologica37. :-)
ProfMTH 2 years ago
I won't be holding my breath. It doesn't take Augustine to realize that you've stumbled through a few late night ideas and began to run with them. I find it hardly "prof-like" to praise scholarly atheistic philosophy on one side of your mouth, and on the other condemn someone (myself) who presents solely academic philosophy (I AM MORE than ready to substantiate this)-- only from the opposite position. Such ends appear to be derivative of a pseudo-bipolar bigotry, not of thorough research 'prof'.
Theologica37 2 years ago
@Theologica37...
Wow. You really have a very high opinion of yourself, don't you?
middlekk 2 years ago
Expect me to call you out on all of this soon.
I recommend you begin you search right away.
You may have the last word professor. Good day.
Theologica37 2 years ago
"someone (myself) who presents solely academic philosophy...from the opposite position"
Theologica, parroting the claims and arguments of philosophers one admires doesn't make one a philosopher any more than being able to repeat the rationales for Supreme Court decisions makes one a lawyer.
ProfMTH 2 years ago
When claiming SR a 'pro philosopher' you've asserted that other philosophy (that I represent) is 'phony'.
Did I ever claim to be a 'pro philosopher' Prof? Care to quote me? Or are you just going to continue with these ignorant, arbitrary assertions? I even admitted (of the next year) I am lay.
I insisted that because I'm not yet (NOR ARE YOU) tenured by such means, that rational discussion need revolve by academia. You've yet cited work-- I'm reminding you, I do not share your weighty burden.
Theologica37 2 years ago
"Did I ever claim to be a 'pro[fessional] philosopher' Prof?"
Good heavens, I hope not.
"you've asserted that other philosophy (that I represent) is 'phony'."
Nope, that's not what I said. But facts are rarely if ever of great interest to you, Theologica37.
ProfMTH 2 years ago
It would bode well for your appearances to actually articulate the philosophy you claim I've misrepresented, or the facts you believe I've ignored. These tactics of evasion, and snide poisoning of the well hardly substantiate your 'case' here.
Step down from the ivory tower and present the reasoning for your, thus far, laughable assertions.
Theologica37 2 years ago
Theologica, you've yet to quote me accurately on anything, yet you accuse me of "evasion and snide poisoning of the well." It would be hilariously funny if it weren't so blatant and pathetic. You are, in my humble opinion, at best a philosopher manque (lots of sizzle, but very little steak) with a seemingly pathological penchant for dishonesty. Now I can't imagine why you give a shit about my opinion of you. I certainly don't give a shit about your opinion of me.
ProfMTH 2 years ago
Think through these responses. Evasion by snide non-sequitur hardly is forth-coming of the intellectual prowess with which you've esteemed yourself.
"dishonesty"
This sloppy ad-hominem without a spec of reference, is the case in point. This is a weighty claim.
So, to nail you down once more: Have you care to give illustration of this or to cite a specific argument? ..Or to have rational, non-bigoted conversation at all? Or are you content with fundamentalist tactics and inconsistent rhetoric?
Theologica37 2 years ago
ProfMTH 2 years ago
Open your eyes prof; Listen. My asking you to cease with fundamentalist evasion tactics, arbitrary ad-hominems, vague unarticulated references (like your supposed messaging conversations with people) and MAKE specific points seems hardly as "bitchy drivel". You're bumbling through claims left and right without the slightest bit of direction. Clean up your language, and your act and have a rational conversation here. Specific claims, specific references.
Lets begin with the arguments' citation.
Theologica37 2 years ago
I would also like to point out, on the side, that you are COMPLETELY ignorant as to my level of education. Completely, unequivocally, IGNORANT. I am all for scholarly work, specifically the rigor it requires. Which Is why I have demanded the citations I have, and offered to give you mine.
You are not working with this "professional" prowess with which you praise yourself.
Your arbitrary claims that I take interest in:
A) My ignoring "facts".
B) My "dishonesty".
C) My "un-academic" arguments.
Theologica37 2 years ago
@Theologica
Dude: You don't know when you've been "dismissed"?
Really, get a life. You're not that important. And your "anger" appears more than a little bit staged for the benefit of your own ego.
You aren't interesting enough to even pick a fight with.
Or are you just trying to get into the next "whacky comments" video?
middlekk 2 years ago
I don't recall, at any point, beginning a discussion with you. I only asked ProfMTH to clarify his apparently unfounded prejudice. That you would come to his defense is a cute though irrelevant factor in this.
Theologica37 2 years ago
And again, you seem to think this is about you...which I find quite amusing.
