  • I've gone GF but I wasn't diagnosed properly with celiac disease. Just because I had to wait over 12 weeks to get a referral (in the UK). I am originally from Australia, so my doctor told me to get a endoscopy over in England (as I was heading over there). I didn't know that you had to wait so long to be seen. I had waited and when I finally had the appointment, the doctor had no idea why I was there- my notes weren't sent to him. So I was pissed off, was bloated, in major discomfort..

  • @bellabop88 couldn't sleep at night because my tummy felt like a rock. I just thought, screw this I'm going GF without the diagnosis. I felt so much better after going on the GF diet. I recently had to go out to dinner a couple of times for a birthday- and I felt I couldn't just sit there and not eat anything and I broke my diet. I had the worst week of trying to sleep with that heavy rock feeling. So I know what my body is telling me, I need to stick with GF.

  • lacking calcium? eat some dark leafy greens! "lack in fortified vitamins" you know what, If you're depending on fortified foods to get all your vitamins and minerals you're not healthy in the first place. I think the doctor they found is an idiot.

b1 - beans of any kind

b2 - soy, liver, milk products, spinach, etc (wheat is nowhere on the top 10 list for b2 fyi)

    b3 - meat

    b5 - corn avocados mushrooms

    b6 - seafood/poultry

    b12- liver / meat

    look it up seriously =\

  • The health benefits of wheat depend entirely on the form in which you eat it. These benefits will be few if you select wheat that has been processed into 60% extraction, bleached white flour. 60% extraction—the standard for most wheat products in the United States, including breads, noodles and pastas, baked goods like rolls or biscuits, and cookies—means that 40% of the original wheat grain was removed, and only 60% is left.

  • @faylinameir Unfortunately, the 40% that gets removed includes the bran and the germ of the wheat grain—its most nutrient-rich parts. In the process of making 60% extraction flour, over half of the vitamin B1, B2, B3, E, folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, iron, and fiber are lost.

  • terrible reporting ABC... this is disappointing

  • hahaahha omg this doctors a fucking idiot

  • Obviously, this is an OLD interview. The doctor in the interview is an absolute QUACK. I hope, in the past two years, he has changed his "opinions."

  • B vitamin and calcium deficient because of a gluten free diet? All I have to say is that...as with all things, you need to make sure you're eating a balanced meal. I have celiacs and am now healthier than ever having come off of gluten. I have had chronic pain my whole life too which is now gone. Big pharm and mainstream doctors are just scared about people actually getting WELL. Do your own research, don't let this scare you away from the possibilities of a gluten free diet.

  • I have celiac disease and HAVE to eat this way it sucks so bad I dont think peole realize that wheat is in fucking everything. Im supper skiny and cant keep weight and Im even perscribed medical marijuana to stimulae my apetite and ease the chronic pain from my anemia. Lucky motherfuckers.

  • One doctor who says there is no "scientific evidence" so it must be true. What a load of poop! Where is his evidence hmm?

  • Please....what about all the people walking around right now that are extremely vitamin D deficient and the medical community could give a fat rat about it. I requested the blood test and I found out what I suspected...the doctors didn't give a care that I was deficient.... They are just butt hurt because it might just alleviate some diseases and then no need for doctors or medicine...if you want the REAL truth!!!!

  • @TexasMom17 mhmm you speak the truth!!! I'm allergic to milk, and have eaten milk very rarely in my life and my doctor told me that I was probably deficient and it was all due to my lack of milk and SHE thought that was why im overweight (actually caused by meds that honestly did save my life as a teenager) I called BS and got tested. Perfect in everything except cholesterol which was on the high side of normal. I told the doctor to kiss my fat ass.

  • I like gluten free

  • This is ridiculous, especially because most people who are gluten free take gluten free vitamins. This video is very bothersome to me, a gluten free diet is not dangerous as long as your doing it properly.

  • Amg, gluten free deserts have little nutritional value! I, like -- totally thought they were health for me!!! D:

  • wow. yet again in am shocked that this actually passes for information -- to think that anyone could make a decision based on this is ridiculous. i have my questions about GF (the paleo explanation doesn't hold water with me for a number of reasons, beyond just being dumb), but b-vitamin and calcium deficiency due to GF diet is just about the dumbest piece of logic i've ever heard of.

  • After seeing what the doctor had to say, I was freaking out! But I know that most doctors are full of crap (mine is!) and I need to do my own research. I just started my gluten free diet and so far I feel great and I get fuller faster on less food. I have been eating more fruits and veggies, I guess I just need to make sure I keep my calcium and B vitamin intake up! I used to take multivitamins, but I had to be really careful when I took them, otherwise I would feel sick. :( thanks everyone!

  • Well, brown rice, lots of vegetables, nuts, and a yeast extract, complimented by some decent fruit, should give us everything we need?

Plus we can use supplements if needs be.

  • This is out dated. That docter is stupid. You can take a multi-vitamin or drink more milk, B vitamins and calcium and fiber can be found in many other foods, plus bread isnt even very good for you, if you read the magazine "living without" there is a study on how we are all actually a little bit gluten intolerant, because even way back thousands of years ago, we were eating wheat with much less amounts of gluten because the wheat was in its purest form. But now companys refine it,

  • The human species thrived for millions of years on a gluten-free diet. Grains are a very recent addition to our diet in terms of species development.

How can this doctor say it can be a "dangerous" diet? Please doctors, don't embarrass yourselves! Get an education on Gluten Sensitivity! Celiac Disease is just "the tip of the iceberg"!

  • hope famous star can lobby to get the price down on the GF Bisquick, nice product but costs more.

  • it is not a diet, but if you are like me and had decades of gut pain it is a medical condition, it changed my life. did not lose any weight that rice flour is wonderful yummy but not calorie free....the GF bisquick makes a great waffle. it is healthy as we not eat more fruit and veg but we still have steak sometimes.

  • That Doctor is full of crap!

  • I have to go gluten free. -_-

  • Progresso soups are fine, also google it for recipes, the GF Bisquick makes a great waffle, you can always have steak, salad and a baked potato with sour cream or corn tortilla and taco or chinese food. making the pizza is the biggest thing to learn, and add sour cream to the new Betty C mix. @lifeisamazee

  • OMG! Hollywood Diet trend. This is the most Ridiculous fad or phase ever. Hollywood grabbed onto this because of the word "Diet".

Why would Liz condone this diet for anyone that is Not Celiac or ASD? She is telling Terry Moran & the rest of the public their energy levels will soar, why?

Because HER energy soared going gluten free, SHE was sick previously! Dr Peter Green is the Man along w/Dr Alessio Fasano. They know their stuff. What GF IS, is a requirement for someone who is Celiac.

  • @hipretty i do agree that it was a little dumb to say that everyone's energy levels would sore, but doctors are finding out that more and more people a developing gluten sensitivities whether or not you're a Celiac you may be better off without it. It's definitely a good thing to either just test it out or get a blood test to see if you have an allergy, just in case. but if you test it out an don't see any benefits after a few weeks, then you should probably quit the diet.

  • @queerp let me expand on this and say What GF IS, is a requirement for someone who is Celiac or gluten intolerant / sensitive. I think the word "diet" is throwing people off. Many are jumping on the GF "Diet" bandwagon thinking this is a weight loss diet...when in essence people who were not thriving due to a TRUE intolerance and auto-immune reaction and weight loss are finally able to GAIN weight and thrive on a GF Diet!

  • @hipretty yeah i do agree with you there. weight loss can only really be achieved if you truly are celiac or gluten intolerant/sensitive, and it isn't necessarily just fat that you lose. you might not even lose weight and your stomach will go in just due to bloating, but yeah, i do agree that it's should only be for people who really shouldn't have gluten in the first place. i don't believe in it as a diet, that's just some Hollywood weight loss fad.
