  • If that's a B.C. Rich, this demo is invalid... This wasn't all that "In depth" either. YOu didn't show it to use with the guitar volume rolled back on each channel... Anyways, the X2N is NOT for clean sounds. It's fantastic for balls out distortion, but otherwise it's a pretty limited pickup. I wouldn't have very many applications for this pup. Personally the hottest pickup I would use is a D Activator. The Super Distortion is perfect, IMO.

  • @CyValkarion It's not a B.C. Rich. Your argument is invalid.

  • @CyValkarion dude no...x2n are perfectly fine with clean sounds as long as you are able to split the coil. I have mine on my RG with a 5 way switch and whenever I split the coil the clean sound is amazing.

  • @metallica5252 Yeah, dude, got it. It's been nearly a year since I posted those stupid comments. I know it can get good cleans.

  • Nice rc planes you've got back there !

  • LEEPU :D

  • your little lab reminds me of half life lol

  • Anyone want to hear an X2N pickup in "REAL" action type in "buckethead cactus club"....epic

  • What kind of amp you are running through?

  • Hi, i was wondering if it would sound good with 2 f-spaced x2n in my les paul? i would be grateful if someone help me.

  • Hi i have a question, would 2 f-spaced x2n sound good in my les paul? i would be very greatful if someone help me.

  • TFKofBD@ wow man can u give me tabs on 2:00 - 2:14 it sounded AWASOME!!

  • i'm looking to put this pickup in a custom guitar i'm builiding. how do you think this pup compares with a Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker?

  • the vid freezes a lot

  • is that a bc rich or another brand becuase the head is different? Or is it an older bc rich?

  • would this work for blues or classic rock like zeppelin

  • Nice vid, slumdog guitarist =)

  • Says another filipino dumbass that is probably using a PC ina cyber cafe with his monthly allowance.

  • @ianpo22 shut up, this video is cool,

to OP excellent choice of both body and pick up \m/

  • @ianpo22 Stupid Asian. Why don't you GTFO and stop randomly commenting on videos you don't even no about.

  • Excellent vid! I really wanna use this pup in the bridge position of a custom guitar with humbucker-single-humbucker. In the middle, I wanna put the FS-1 in the middle position, and a clean, warm pup (like the Humbucker from hell) in the neck. Any recommendations? And what type of tone pot would best complement these pups?

Thanks for the advice, and keep up the awesome work ^_^

  • @MegashadX Thanks a lot for the appreciation bro. Moving on to your question, I really like your pickup choices but i would target for a slightly brighter pickup in the middle and a slightly darker one in the neck. The FS-1 is a good pickup but as I have not personally used it, i cannot say much. I did however, use the dimarzio Area 58's in conjunction with an X2N. They sound magical when they are mixed. Just dont buy the hype of ppl saying that you shouldnt match hot pickups with cool ones.

  • @TFKofBD man nice videos and playing etc thanks. Let me ask you i got the Ibanez 170DX . You said that tapping " gets easier " with this Pickup X2n right? I should buy one?

  • Nice vid! however i was wondering which of the following would be best for high gain riffing and soloing :

    Dimarzio X2N and PAF pro

    EMG 81/60

    Seymour duncan JB and Jazz

    Any opinions?

  • I dont know much about Actives so there is no opinion about the EMG's. But I would steer clear from the JB if you dont bend too much and dont pinch a lot :P

Just my opinion. I know this can vary

  • @ExplodeEd 85/60 emg...for real...85 is great in the bridge. 60 is great for the neck.If you want Duncans, I would go with a Custom Custom (B) and a 59 in the neck. If you want really good active, Blackouts are much better than EMGS, but thats only my opinion.

  • what pedal is that?

  • I dunno what everyone's bitching about...

You're actually a pretty good player...

  • is that a moser???

and which tuning are you in?

  • @flyingvboy12585

this is a bc rich beast

  • @flyingvboy12585 The guy played some SOAD song, so I d say it is in Drop C

  • @ Flying boy. This is the shittiest BC rich beast copy in the entire world :P and I am in drop C i beleive.

  • Ive got a choice, Crunch Lab or Xn2 for my Ibanez GRX20. Which one has best sound for distortion solos and clean sound to play normaly acoustic guitar songs.

  • Well, on its own. X2N is a bitch. But if you can combine the pickups. They get better

  • way to play EVERY SINGLE part of are you dead yet wrong. you give children of bodom a bad name

  • Says the guy who is a total jerk and failed to read the fucking description. -.-

  • Children of bodom have a bad name all on their own. cus they suck!

  • @TFKofBD hey I commented on another youtube video, I was thinking of getting a change in pickups and I could only think of getting either the blackout or theEMGX and someone told me to get a dimarzio x2n judging by your review it seems like you understand about these kind of things more than I do so I was wondering should I get an active or passive pickup? my guitar's a bc rich wmd warbeast and awesome tapping lick at 2.00 btw haha

  • Well, Since you have a Warbeast and have the same wood as mine, I would strongly recommend that you get the X2N. I have tried EMG's but I dont like the preamp tone and you really cant get a personal sound. In my ears, most EMGs sound too similar to each other. I would recommend that you take a look at the final vid of the X2N thats entitled, Distortion and clean on X2N. Over there, I got a much better tone there and you can really hear the pickup shine

    Good luck bro

  • thanks for the advice man :D how about the blackouts? I really like the sound of the X2N how much does it cost?

  • Blackouts are great for metal and all that but I find the X2N has more versatility, especially with different wiring combos. I have tried series/parallel/split on blackouts. They sound good on their own but when mixed with the neck pickup, it just doesnt sound good enuf. But the X2N sounds REALLY beautiful with medium output neck pikups. People say that to balance an X2N, you need a hot neck pickup. Well, they are wrong cos I am really loving the sound of my guitar when I mix my two pickups

  • okay man I think I'll go with your advice I wouldn't stand putting another hole through my guitar for the batteries anyway thanks! appreciate your time

  • Good luck bro, pickup choosing aint an easy job. I hope you find YOUR sound

  • @TFKofBD Got the Warbeast WMD too and thinking about swapping the pups for my DeActivator from Xiphos. I d say the have easier made pinchies. Not wholly decided. Not sure what I need to get out of guitars, if only pups or other parts (?pots?), too.

  • Well if you are not sure WHAT to improve. Dont change anything just yet. Know the flaws of your instrument a bit better.

X2N's do have very good pinch response due to upper mid emphasis in the pickup construction and pots simply add more load to your signal chain. Best to use as less as possible to obtain the pure tone

  • Well thanks. I try to get my pinchies better with a technique, even if its harder to do. Thanks for an answer.:-)

  • you're right about the X2N being one of the highest output pickups, however the Schaller Hot Stuff takes the cake at 375 mV - 385 mV, I'm planning on making a custom strat like guitar with a 24 fret neck, floyd rose original and three humbuckers. From bridge to neck it's Schaller Hot Stuff, Dimarizo X2N and D-activator X bridge.

  • Good luck bro. I am glad that you are experimenting with pickups suited o widely different genres. The advantage of this is it will allow you to get beautiful clean tones when they are mixed. Especially if you are using the split wiring of the high output pickups with the parallel wiring of the medium output piuckups

Have fun and dont forget to use the switching combinations. Its of outmost importance if you want a unique sound

  • are you a guitar tech? cool video

  • don't need to bee "tinkering type" to bluid a active EQ... you just have to know what you are doing (i'm not, never build a piece of circuit EVER)

but i don't want a active system on my guitar, i like all passive, because my guitar it's incredible well build, nice wood, excelent hardware and tuning, so ... i will NEVER put an active circuit on it...

  • what pedal do you have?

  • Metalzone

  • what neck pickup should i get with an x2n?

  • damn dude.. you have gotten good

  • You changed the neck on that B.C Rich Beast huh? Looks like a fender neck.....is it?

  • Well that BC rich is Homemade :P

  • Shit...homemade huh? Pretty damn good. As usual, the beast guitar fucking beautiful....well done TFKofBD

  • okay i know you think scooping the mids out of your tone is great but its not... itll kill your tone live and make recording a pain... a guitar is a midrange instrument. Cymbals get the highs and the bass and kick drum get the lows. Common sense not to scoop mids.

  • aiyaiyai.........shit you are soo correct bro.......thanx fr the input

  • yea no problem... and i wasnt trying to sound like a douche. Just trying to help.

  • lol cmon dude......we all have to learn

  • Scooping the mids is the metal guitar sound.

  • Damn dude, that's sick tone. It's the Metal Zone right? What're the settings on that pedal?

  • Bass at 3'o clock, mids TOTALLY scooped, treble at 1'o clock. hope this helps

  • Keep playing dude! You're awesome!

  • thnx a lot bro

  • hey nice review, but i could exactly hear what u said when u compared this to an emg, did u say that it has a better output? because i was thinking of buying this or emgs, mind giving me your opinion?

  • Well dude...you are pulling me into a territory where I have never ventured in my life...the area of active pickups..........but heres what I can say scientifically but NOT tonally. EMG's use weak magnets to gain a very weak signal and amplifies it with a preamplifier built into the pickup....Dimarzios and any other passive pickups require very strong magnets to gain a measurable amount of signal....the prob due to this is tht passives pull on the string harder which may reduce sustain

  • i cant hear so good you talk :S

  • Ohh amazing guitar !

  • Man I got a jackson kvx10 (check my channel one sec plz to see it, if u dont know that guitar)

I want to change the bridge pickup for a dimarzio, wich one would u recomend me for that guitar model? thx 4 ur time.

  • hhmmmmmmm i wud say the dimarzio d activators, or the d activator x sets. hope this help you dude.

  • youre right.... D Activator X's FTW

  • I have a rg350dx ibanez - do you think the x2n would be good for the bridge on this?

  • oh yeh! that would sound well good actually! infact i wud recommend an x2n in the bridge and neck! and a dimarzio super distortion for the single coil.

  • Thanks, do you think I should get the in white or black :) I quite like the white

  • i'd go with white! and change the hardware like the trem, locking nut and machine heads to gold!

  • I'd recommend you try the D'activator X es now.

  • Are D Activators much betet rthan X2N for Metal and Death metal stuff?

  • D activators have a slightly lower output and that makes it more manageable and a little less truble than the X2N. I had BAD microphonic issues with my X2N and had to personally wax pot the coils to get rid of the buzz. But tone wise, X2N is still the heaviest but technically not the best.

  • holly shit =( too late i read your coment

i order a x2n to be installated on my jackson kelly, i saw in dimarzio homepage that D Activator X have a lot of bass and less treble, and that's i won't... i like to sound like pantera, sepultura, death, etc

  • Well here is one thing you COULD do if you are the tinkering type. You could build your own active EQ like I did and control Bass, Mid and Treble. I did it on mine and it sounds SO much more versatile.

  • Me too! im wondering the same thing!

  • yeah cob!

  • at 2:40 that riff was so frikkin sweet, from what song? =P

  • some random shit that popped into my mind jus then

  • So go with the D X instead of the X2n's?

  • i'd recommend That one now

  • are these the best pickups for metal from dimarzio? they have the highest output right?

  • well yes its got that passive warmth...but heres a tip...if you want pure active tone from a PASSIVE desgin...try out the dimarzio D Activator X...thats almost as powerful as this pickup AND has that active tone for hi gain music

  • i hear what you say, but why would you want hi gain on the bridge? isn't that what the neck pick ups are for? i'm not tlaking shit i'm genuinely curious because i'm thinking of getting either one to put on my ibanez rg ex1...

ps. if you were to cut off the ball on the head (neck) of that beast it would then trully be a monstrosity (in a good way

:-) .... that fender look on it kills it.. it's like a lycan in a too too

  • Bridge is primarily for High Gain Rhythm Tones. Neck is primarily for smoother clearer solo tones.

  • john sed the ryt thing...if you want disto...like the ones in iron maiden with tight notes...you'll need a bridge pickup to avoid mud....but for smooth cleans and long sustaining ethereal notes...the neck pickup in up to the task

  • nice video dude, i've just bought my x2n and i'm waiting for the seller send it =)

is it a bc rich warbeast?

  • nop its a crappy homemade beast :P

  • TFK, dude, it's not a bad looking beast. I know what they look like. I went from BC Rich to Epiphone, because, I'm in a pop punk band.. And Sorry to say, but there is something about BC Rich that doesn't give them a good rep with pop punk.

Haha, but dude, I like your guitar. Like definately.

  • no its just a beast :P

  • Sweet tapping at the start! And that pickup is godlike. Especially on a BC Rich.

  • thank ya so much man...its not that really tuff tho and i am impressed with how well it does with a REAL bc rich beast (mine in handmande :P)

  • Dude, you'll be a great Indian Metal guitarist.

  • lol thanks a lot for the encouragement but i aint indian :P :P...am bangladeshi....but anyway...thanks a LOT bro

  • Sorry dude, I'm not meaning to be stereotypical or anything.

  • lol its ok bro...i get that a lot :P :P...mayb cos i am a darkie and have a strange accent :P

  • x2n s are awesome nice sound u have check out my vid

  • Play More Talk Less . . .

  • yep...i figure that i myself got bored by seein this :P

  • Hey I think your playing is good :d thanx for this review, I own a x2n and always wondered how it sounds like in parallel but just a quick question; did you installed a special switch, like a 4 pole switch, to get the parallel setup?

  • thnx a lot bro....well to tell u the truth i din use anythin special at all....all i used was a two position DPDT switch...the schematics for wiring it up is with me...i'll mail it to you if you want

  • are you tuned in drop c?

  • uh huh yeah i am

  • why do you have a fender headstock. it looks weird.

  • A Ibanez or just flat out coustom headstock would look a lot better, wouldn't it?

  • thats the old B.C. Rich headstock

  • right on dude, I'm really diggin the beast thing!

  • Nice video, keep up the good work! Can you tell me what is the name of the song at 2:00 thnx

  • its my own tappin improvs :P

  • hey wts the song at 2:01?

  • my stupid tapping improvs

  • hi really happy to see you again on you tube, how did you make that guitar?

  • well i'll b honest....i only made the body by myself....this was done by taking a hi res foto of a beast and then blowing it up to scale :P it was a huge learnin experience for me but thank god i did it :P :P

  • ya i am using a metalzone now and the guitar is a handmade guitar tht i made by maself :P

  • nice new gear man...and sick playin.

did you say you usin a metal zone pedal now?
