  • Watching this makes my legs hurt.

    Irish dancing causes shin splints.

  • And you big cheese person....SHUT THE F UP until you try and learn irish dance you will never know how hard it is! Why watch the videos if you don't appreciate, understand, like, or practice it?! I think you are a pathetic idiot who has nothing Better to do with their time than to criticize people who are actually batter than you! How DARE you comment on the dance like that! That is offensive I all irish and all Irish dancers, in which I am both! (or will soon be both as I don't take Irish dan

  • Oh. My. God. How amazing!!! I'm learning Irish dance soon...my mam who lived in Ireland till she was ten knows bits of it, and she tried to teach me one little jig...and I've never done anything that hard before...you really have to appreciate how difficult and amazing it is. I can't wait to start class and I feel honored to learn my countries traditional dance....

  • goodbye @bigcheese462 You've been blocked.

  • @BigCheese462 you're boring not Irish dance

  • @BigCheese462 ehhh...do you know how many years of training and how much skill is required to do those steps...or how much practice it takes to get the formation of all the dancers just perfect...don't watch irish dance videos if u have no interest r can't appreciate the talents of the dancers!

  • @BigCheese462 then don't watch it.

  • Cashel Dennehy beat us at nationals they got 1st and we got 2nd!

  • watching this makes me miss being an irish dancer... :(

  • @666flyingxrose666 me too, i danced for 6 years but stopped a few years ago.

  • why does this have so many views?

  • can someone tell me what is the name of the first slip jig? thanks :)

  • @marsape: I'm an American with no Irish blood at all in me and I enjoy this,so to so to say only Irish people would enjoy the video is a stupid as saying only Mexicans would enjoy mariachi music or only black would enjoy hip-hop nationality does not matter to enjoy good music and good dancing

  • as an irish dancer that dance lookes cool my school is doing a dance to just dance my lady gaga and its hard show and soft

  • Why did you remove your childish comment to me? Thats very brave of you.

  • wow! thats amazing :)

  • They look like little porcelain dolls that cant bend their legs. I wish I had one in my jewellery box.

  • Absolutely beautiful!!

    Thank You!!

  • I have this music, too

Or at least my dance school does

    Beautiful dancing :)

  • it looks scottish 2 me

  • the gaelic traditions of scotland are as a results of gaelic tribes emigrating to scotland centuries ago from Ireland.

  • It only looks Scottish to you because you fail life. If you won life like the rest of us, you'd know it was Irish.

  • your youtube profile seems like a saxon backwater bulldog one to me. Scots Celtic culture comes from Ireland, so does their dancing and language.

  • i woud break me my feets if I did so

  • Is this the same dancing school which Michael Flately attending in his youth?

  • No of corse i may be wrong...but i think Flately went to Trinity accadamy

  • he went to Dennehy

  • Simply beautiful...

  • GO CASHEL!!!

  • go on cashel town

  • holy moly that is my set dance music!!! WOOO!!!

  • These little lassies are great!

  • HAHAHA This is the old version of "Jumpstyle" XD

  • i love how many boys there are!! its great!

  • WHat's is the song @ 0:34?

  • i dont kno....but i really love it

  • i faved this one

  • i dont get with irish dancing with there hands down i do dancing but i do jazz and ballet so but i dont irish though ??

  • My great aunt told me that when the Irish would throw their parties in the pubs that the catholics would accuse them of hitting them with their arms while they were dancing. And so to avoid problems the arms are kept rigidly straight. It's just a legend she told me, but I know its awfully hard to keep ones arms like that at first.

  • The rigidity of the hands is symbolic of "fire and ice," that is, ice above the waist and fire below.

  • i loved irish dancing :)

*sobs*.. thn my teacher left :(

  • when was this filmed? the style of the dresses don't really strike me as recent.

  • In Irish dance competitions, girls are judged by a strict set of rules. I don't know when this is filmed, but up until two years ago I wore the same kind of dresses.

  • very good girls.... :)

  • why do they dance lyk that?i like it ive been practising myself

  • I miss my Irish dancing days! :(

  • I know, it brings back all the memories of competing at World's and the big comps! Its so sad. I lived and breathed it for almost 10yrs and then just like that it's all gone!

  • initt,, i kno.. smee.. =/

  • I LOVE IT

  • i need to learn this because im irsh =D

  • I so wanne learn this but I can't cuz there's nothing like that in my town :(

  • aalexander928 lol!!!i danced der!!!im da gurl that came out at 0:19 until 0:34 im da 1 in the white .oh ye my name is Emma

  • Um out of curiosity, why is it that the upper body doesn't really move in alot of Irish dancing.

  • I think it had to do with the church. Before, they danced using their arms and hands and everything, then the church stepped in and said they could only dance with their feet, and that moving the rest of the body was inappropriate... that's how I heard it anyway! =)

  • im a irish dancer, the arms are used, in things like formation dancing but its mostly about posture, helps keeps balance

  • I agree the old dressers were better true belive me they are compealy diffent too the old ones before

  • Just.... - GREAT !!!!

    Thank You!

  • How Old Is this Video everyone is wearing a 3 panel dress

  • Well it was added 2 years ago, at the height of the 3 panel craze, so... ya

  • YAY THREE PANEL DRESSES.

  • real men wear skirt

     ;D

  • haha

  • This is fine, fun dancing. The costumes and hair styles are great. They all defy gravity. I love it. Thanks for posting this splendid video.

  • Is Cashel Dennehy the name of the school of dance?

  • Yes the school is the Cashel Dennehy school of Irish dance I believe

  • yeah feis girl is right its cashel dennehy school of irish dance.....its a great school!

  • Can anyone tell me, please, which song that beautiful piece starting at 0.33 is?

  • yeah that really is gorgeous that music, does anyone know???

  • from 0:01 to 0:57 is all the same song but im not reli sure wat its called

  • Ehh what are you on about seriously, none of you know what tradional Irish dancing is! It's not about curling your hair or having a heavy dress! I dc trad dance & my dress is seriously light compared to a fesh dress & curling your hair makes it look like your trying too hard to be fesh & no one I know who dances wears a wig!

  • ok, first off it's spelled Feis not fesh, maybe those are your personal experiences but you have no right to impose them upon others, maybe we like how heavy our dresses are, and maybe we like curling our hair and how it looks, and feis isn't a style it's a competition

  • (00:19) the smallest one.

  • omg! the first three that came on the one in the pinky dress... that looks like my mate... Ashleigh Diggin-Ogle...

  • Keep your racist comments to yourself-this comment is disgusting and should be removed

  • the first one is really beautiful, too bad you can't hear the music so well

  • i danced for years as did my sisters and mother before me.just stop with the wigs.its not a pageant! my granny never had sequins, false hair and makeup as a little girl and its from her i learnt my steps.its the best dance but i can hardly bear to look now.

  • We do not try to portray the look of a pageant, but wigs allow us a better sleep, and better ringlets, as for the sequins, they attract the judges eye better, and as for the make-up i know that when i wake up early in the morning, i'm tired, and make-up helps me to look more awake. Times (and things) have changed since your granny was dancing, we need to change with the times, if you want to sleep in those horrid curlers, and get an old heavy dress, be my geust, but dont expect others to.

  • I agree. Even though I am a guy dancer I see how hard it is for the girls to have nice hair without a wig.

  • Yes, but the wigs also make you look like you've tipped a bowl of macaroni on your head. Or like there's a sheep sitting on it!!

Why do you have to have curls?! Some Irish people have curls - most don't. Just like anywhere else in the world. Curls aren't Irish. Jean Butker, for example, isn't famous for curly hair!!

And if you see nothing wrong with little girls getting bright orange spray tans, then there's something wrong with you. But you're still very young yourself.

  • And I obviously meant Jean Butler!!

  • there is a video on here of Jean Butler in Dress and Curls, dancing with the chiftens

  • Not nesscarily, it depends on your wig, most wigs look very natural now a days, they look very much like normal hair, you can even get wigs made out of REAL hair.

I never said i saw nothing wrong with little girls getting bright orange spray tans, because personally i hate those, they look stupid and disgusting, but it is not my place to tell others what to do, and it isn't yours either

  • thanks you again feis girl you said it!

  • the wigs are traditional, dancers curled their hair a long time ago so whenthe curls bounced it would appear that they were leaping higher.

  • super!!!

  • it was very very very good. the boys were awesome i likedd the music. dancing with no music was cool. ( some of the girls dresses were a little long)

  • Their most cremantic since 'prodigirl'- best bit of irish on the web

  • very talanted!

  • where did this take place??

  • good rocks in the beginning!!! god i really suck at rocks... but i have them in my steps so ill have to get used to them...

ps. anyone going to north american nationals c u there!! im in u14

  • Beautiful dance!

People in Serbia like it so much that irish dance become something like an idea for the advertisement of our Mobile company which moto is "connecting people". It is starting something like irish dance but then it is transforming into serbian national dance "kolo" ("round").

The message is simple - give me your hand (connceting people)!

just search the video with this two words: MTS KOLO

  • i just love it..

  • the girls look like little music box dolls... so sweet

  • awesome guys! congrats :) I remember when I danced like that for the first time ;) it's hard!

  • bravo ¡¡¡¡

    I love it¡¡¡

It's really amazing how you can dance like that

  • we wear the wigs because its tradition

  • hey blueeyedbabe, what's the name of the song that's playing around 0:40? I'd like to get hold of it if I can...

  • The dancing was great but why do Irish dancers wear those horrible ringlet wigs??

Thet make the kids look 20yrs older it's wierd!

  • ...That comment wasn't posted with the intention to personally offend any of the kids dancing in this vid.. Like I said they are great dancers.

  • wow, I thought it actually made people look younger. I've seen 20 year olds that look more like 15 when they wore the wigs. On the other hand, those new wigs that don't curl save for a little wave at the bottom seem to make some people look older. Such as a 16 year old looking 30 in those wigs. The same slips my mind at the moment though...

  • I guess it's so everyone looks the same. And so everyone looks very irish. Aha although I doubt every irish person has curly hair. And the wigs are a lot easier to wear than curling your hair before every competition. That takes forever.

  • wow...AMAZING!

  • okay at 00:40 thats my fav song i dance to all the time!-i just think its pretty-

  • your sick!

  • i irish dance in st dominics dance academy in ireland and we dont have recitals like this.

  • there crip walking

  • i greek dance, and i must say this looks impressive!

  • i dance with ohare and ohare is really really really good we had 8 WORLD qulifers

  • irishdancer41,

    well i'm in Trinity's sister school,and I love Trinity!

  • Sorry, Not Trinity. 100% Cashel Dennehy! This looks like Rhapsody in Blue, their annual all-school recital. It's a combo of Madison and Milwaukee Dancers.

P.S. Great job at Irish Fest !!

  • I dance for O'Hare. I think this is Trinity also..but I'm not sure. I don't really recognize other schools steps anymore.

  • This was a breakthrough moment for me. Duh. I didn't realize the Tap component to Irish dancing. The music drowns out the sound of the feet. The choreography makes me appreciate this on a new level. It is shuffling about or bluegrass type stomping it's more akin to tap. Thx for the edu. Brilliant.
