I really like the music behind this commercial .. who is the composer of this song ?

@truesubstance This music was stolen from Maurice Ravel's String Quartet in F, Second Movement. Rather than use the original masterpiece, Ancestry.com paid some hack to do a simplified re-write of the main theme. My disgust for this piece of musical plagiarism knows no bounds. But please do yourself a favor and listen to Ravel's actual quartet. It's one of the best ever written, in my opinion.

@drogbafan212 over and over I see people saying this is Ravel's string quartet. WRONG. The music is a rip-off of Ravel's String Quartet in F major. The "composer" of this ad music stole Ravel's main theme from the second movement, then added a few cheesy variations and presumably cashed in on it with ancestry.com. The first five seconds is from Ravel's masterpiece; the rest is garbage. But by all means listen to the Ravel quartet if you want to hear some beautiful music.

wow! that song sounds very similar to Andrew Bird's "Minor Beatrice" from the album Music of Hair (1996). I know it isn't, but if you listen 36 seconds into his song, the riff is almost identical to the song played on this commercial.
